My mate had one of those and loved it. Now I am in the process of purchasing a 2003 Legacy S401 STi, the ultimate twin turbo leggy. Words cannot describe my excitement!
@@Ballsack44THe s401 is amazing and 286 were mad, 6 speed and 300hp from the factory. I have a 98 manual B4 RSK and love it, fun, cheap and pretty fast.
@@fwang3023 So? It doesnt matter shorter wheel base means better turning radius and it has plenty enough of space. It only shows how cars swollen over the years. Levorg is the size of real Legacy from 90s and 2000s and they dont give us manual in it.....
@@wedantasatrya9458 Damn, I’m waiting on my 4th gen legacy 2.0gt to ship from Japan. I hope it’s not crazy expensive when it comes to maintenance since I am also a uni student
Couldn't agree with you more, it's a very under-appreciated car. I own a 1999 Subaru Legacy B4 RSK Twin Turbo, very first car I've ever owned and I plan on keeping it for years to come :) I've kept it nearly completely stock, previous owner only put an aftermarket exhaust on it, and it's still pushing 280hp. Any of you guys got some suggestions for mods, throw them my way!
One of the finest JDM moments but forgotten due, perhaps, to the hype about the rally winning WRX STi... this much smooth power from a four pot is witch craft!
I think one of the main reasons the legacy is under appreciated is USDM gets the crappy N/A legacys. They dont even look appealing because USDM makes the car looks like something the elderly would drive ! I have this same car with wrx coilovers i adapted, b4 tail lights , blacked out the headlights removed amber , megan racing rear lateral links, and many more stuff im forgetting . I love the 3rd gen legacies and if i could afford a turbo swap , i would do it. Really nice video!
I had a 2001 rsk in nz and I know the feeling mate. One of the best cars I had though. I mean, all around good car, not just for the track or for the grocery runs.
syndromer yeah mate not about engine size. They're like gold amongst thieves here and they're a top choice for crims and boy racers. Most cheap 90s Subarus that is.
Man, I found this channel about week ago and I have to admit that your content the way you record and put together those reviews is awesome :D I really enjoy watching your stuff also IMO your reviews in some points are better than Thatdudeinblue ones.
killagoatee Oh that would be awesome. You can try to convince him though lol, we're not even on the same planet when it comes to subscriber numbers. You guys should all message/comment mentioning our channel though! Maybe he'll take notice!
I'm from Langley, just bought a 2000 b4 rsk a couple months ago and loving it. Everything you said was bang on lol, I'm glad you liked it as much as you did. I'm from Langley too btw, so I might see you around at a meet or something. Cheers
+Kyron Frain Got mine a month or so ago. Black on black too. it's a dream. contact me we should meet I'm in Vancouver. is there any B$ RSK local group or meeting by any chance? plz contact me, I'd like to exchange knowledge and advices too.
I've been interested in importing a Legacy for a while, and was glad to see and hear that the car is as good as everyone says. Also, I was supremely impressed with the quality and content of these reviews and your channel in general. I've subscribed and I look forward to more of these. Keep up the great work. Hope to see you around Vancouver!
I own one and I can say it's a great car, I was 18 when I got mine and I was not ready lol. These cars are not exactly Reliable and the parts are not the easiest to find. Aslong as you can have periods where the car don't work then its the perfect car. I love mine just know it's a pain in the as to find stuff fkr it in Canada
I had one of these when I lived in Japan and I got to say that I really miss this car! While I was able to ship my R32 GT-R, I could not import my Legacy B4 since it was 10 years too young.
Primary Turbo is a VF22 engages at 1800RPM Secondary Turbo is a VF27 engages at 3000rpm I know cause I put this motor in my 1993 Impreza Wagon and now im putting it in my 03 Outback after a head gasket change, BTW 278HP was in line with the Gentleman's rule where no car in Japan could be advertised as having more than 278HP but when I put the twin Turbo in my Impreza and did a Dyno run it did 320HP all stock.
you make really good videos dude. I think getting a video of yours onto car throttle or another medium that has a strong presence on facebook would do you wonders. I look up car videos all day, and i especially appreciate ones in this format, and I just now found your channel after a really long time. I'm not sure why that is (maybe tags?) but in my opinion your cinematography is great, your well spoken and you know what you're talking about, Enough so that there's no reason your channel should be this small in comparison to (comparisons suck, sorry) let's say, That Dude in Blue. Just keep making videos man you're doing a great job, it's just a matter of time before you get some more views and exposure
I have one of these and you basically nailed it. My only issue is that it's very hard to find parts for it and is still subjected to the typical Subaru issues.
funny how Legacy B4 RSK does not cost much unlike STI's, Skylines, Type R, Evolution but will beat cars. Maybe a B4 RSK will be a smarter choice if I end up buying a RHD as a daily. Good thing about this is that parts are easy to find unlike parts for an RB or 2JZ
+Mark lol well the B4 RSK tends to have alot of of problems compared to most of the cars you listed(TRANSMISSION ESPECIALLY so nobody in japan wants them... this in turn drives the price down)..But its a great car when it works forsure. And where did u hear it was hard to find parts for a 2J?? cause thats not true
how well would you say it handles?? I just moved to japan and bought a 2002 legacy blitzen, i haven't picked it up yet and would like to know if itll handle pretty well in the smaller japan streets
Yeah these are also available in Australia too (Liberty, exactly the same as the Legacy, just rebadged), pretty common and cheap. Great video though man, really well done and a beautiful car. I have a N/A Liberty 2.5 RX and I love it. Not as powerful, but you just can't beat that handling! Do you remember what tyres are on this car?
+PIK same mate ! mines a 2.5 NA but still a great drive, even at stock height. i need to install some strut/H braces as well as sway bars to reduce that high speed body roll, exciting cars to corner thats for sure
put my 2000 legacy b4 rsk up against my buddy's 1998 sti and damn was it close, all that low end boost makes the car take off like a rocket compared to an sti so for city driving etc. its a blast!
the later models came out with single turbo which sorts the problem with lag the twin turbos had, most people ive known with the twin have converted to single
They don't have lag, if you keep it on the single turbo stage driving around town they spool up really early, it's the changeover that is annoying if you are trying to track race every time you have to back off then accelerate again........ awesome cruisingdaily driver car is what they are made for
Awesome vid man, really made me wanna buy one hahaha, still deciding between the newer gt-b wagon or something like this :o I want a fast 4 door beast for under 15k hahaha
the steering has to be on the right side because of the twin turbo setup will not fit on left, these are very common here and new zealand and can be picked up cheap but have a bad reputaion for breaking in almost every way
Honestly, this is like older style of an Audi S3. Shape, size, AWD, only thing is this is twin turbo and Audi S3 is single. But with new tech from 2016+, is always gona be bit faster than 2001 B4
Great video man! I've been looking up legacys for awhile and I've been really wanting to import one from Japan or Canada but I'm not sure if it's legal and I don't want to pay a shit load of money to bring it over. Do these pass American safety standards and all the other things?
I like the factthat in new zealand WRX's are more popular for being stolen *2nd most popular stolen car here) while the B4 nobody really wants to steal them unless they really pimped out and I dont see many like that around, thats why I'd rather have a B4. :D
im about to buy one but the blitzen version. just curious about quickness, in an evo i was pretty much getting pulled back into my seat. is this car anything like that? Is there enough torque to put a smile on face? haha
+Daniel Moros ive had the car for about 3 weeks now, and this mazda 3 just tried racing me...he fucking matched me all the way, from 4th to 5th. a fucking mazda 3...such bs. (mazda probably running 265hp.)
Saw this car last week in Poco, you said it's quiet inside is that true? I find that pretty impressive cuz I could hear it idling over my z32 TT in traffic with my windows up lol.
Some Body Loud as hell from the outside haha. Very well insulated though. Unless you're at full-tilt it's very reasonable in terms of road noise, drone, etc.
Coming out of a gtr 33 skyline and a r34 gtt i keep forgettin with my aus jdm b4 tt liberty is only a little 2L boxer engine! once you reflash the ecu its quite impressive as my daily and the odd zips! The ej20TT also sound the toughest out of the ej engines imo 😀👍👌
Nice! I'm buying sedan version next week, can't wait! :D The motor has been rebuilt by a professional with forged internals and it has sti single turbo in it :)
hey man can you help me. i live in surrey(BC),got the same car.ever since i got it,the check engine light came up.most scanner can read the car.but i found out its the vehicle speed sensor.but its not a "P" code, like its not specific bout the problem.this problem puts the car in "limp" mode.meaning i can never get beyond 4500rpm,which is where the most fun part is.can anyone help me with this.else im selling it.
Yes, it is my first car. Funnest car to drive and makes all other cars feel really sloppy because it is such a precision machine. When the second turbo comes on it is like you enter a time-warp tunnel haha. Get one now!
+WesTay If you want something more practical and comfortable go with the legacy, its obviously heavier and feels like it but the sequential turbos are alot more fun compared to the single on your wrx, imo atleast.
@@shadow36057 it’s been amazing 5 speed, and an og 99 first model it’s never let me down and I’ve never had to plug it in in the winter definitely a quick reliable little sleeper
