The original is still impressive, even after the "behind the scenes"... Can't imagine the pressure to get the JCVD version "final take" done with the sun at just the right position. Kudos all 'round, especially to Enya for the heavenly soundtrack.
Well, harness or not, JCVD's split is real. His balance is superb, and he did not rely on the harness. It was there for protection. Not to aid the stunt. But that heavens it was there. We wouldn't want to lose such a fantastic athlete by playing stupid. Happy valentines day Jean-Claude
I’m not even sure the harness was used with JCVD, appears it might only be for this remake. Difficult to hear though, since they speak in German over the English conversation between the team from Volvo and the team from RTL. Might be that they say it was used in both instances
I'm pretty sure in the original JCVD did bend forward for a little while and relied on the harness. But it's quite understandable - the trucks are still moving and shaking.
Hammer!
@@showingYOUtheworld That doesnt change the fact that the videos title was in English. Lets try another example, what if the video's title was in lets say Arabic, but the whole video was in Chinese?
That was a very brave initiative. JCVD is a well trained athlete. But the young man in this video is obviously not. Brave and a great idea. If you watch the video of making the original you can see that JCVD had some serious worries at first as they didn't tell him about the safety procedures. Great idea from Volvo, and perfectly performed by everybody involved. Just great.
Its implied there was cheating, but the reality is whatever you make it up to be. The video, altered or edited, is proof the guy is a legend. So much so, the video has still garnered nearly 100 million views, and continues to be a motivational piece. It is.
This is genius. I think this commercial touches, relates or just amazes anyone watching it. I don't care for either trucks or Van Damme, but this is my favorite commercial all-times. It's more than about the product, the message from Van Damme is very inspiring and beautiful which works for both himself and the trucks. Love that track to that beautifully trick during the sunrise. Everything is simply awesome.
This report does not imply cheating, they just said they used some clever tricks (like the trucks having a speed limiter) and that it‘s obvious there had to be safety measures. Cheating would’ve been to use CGI to place JCVD into an empty shot.
Im American and I had no problem understanding every word he said. This was epic! absolutely awesome! I have much respect for him, Congratulations Jon, you still got it! 👍👏💪you
Van Damme is a beast here.....but CHUCK NORRIS steered the trucks with one hand, held the sun up in place with his other hand, while doing the splits, sang in the background & filmed this with just a Go-Pro on his head to make this commercial so so good. Chuck Norris is the perfection of mankind
hello JCVDonline every one of your fans believe in you in every way well done sweetheart love fro fan Karen, #JCVD! Always Love Our Legend forever The best babes xxx
From Wall Street Journal: "Van Damme, 53, was hooked to safety lines that aren't visible in the film, and each foot is on a small platform that was built on the trucks' side mirrors. Van Damme's feet aren't secured to the mirrors, video director Andreas Nilsson said, "but we had him rigged so that if he would fall off he wouldn't die obviously. We didn't want to be responsible for killing the Muscles from Brussels.
There's a big difference among the two videos, the truck on the right (for who watches) in Van Damme video it's a semi articulated one, the one in the remake no. The coefficient of difficult in driving the first one in reverse it's not even comparable.
the main trick is that the truck that is steering is not a semi (in this video even both trucks are not semi), obviously they tried with two semis, but their magic steering did not perform the task.
Whoever created this shouldn't have wasted there time. It's well known that JCVD was supported by a harness that was edited out, his value to society is worth more than this chaps so no point risking; at least JCVD can do the splits and I believe the original was done in one shot. What a beautiful sunset too!
