𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐒 𝟒𝟎𝟎 Live OUT NOW: jeanmicheljarre.lnk.to/VERSAI...
𝐕𝐄𝐑𝐒𝐀𝐈𝐋𝐋𝐄𝐒 𝟒𝟎𝟎, a mixed-reality concert live from the Hall of Mirrors on December 25th, 2023 to celebrate the 400th anniversary of the Château de Versailles.
Lynx Mixed Reality is redefining the boundaries of mixed reality (AR+VR) with the LYNX-R1 headset. Engineered in France, the LYNX-R1 headset will play a central role during Jean-Michel Jarre's performance. Thanks to mixed reality, Jean-Michel Jarre will be able to access his futuristic vision & his re-création of the Hall of Mirrors in the metaverse. The Lynx-R1 will allow the artist to share a simultaneous experience with the audience present in the Hall of Mirrors and the audience in the metaverse through his virtual avatar. JMJ’s concert-event not only represents a significant milestone for cultural applications of our technology but also serves as a powerful testament to the potential of Lynx Mixed Reality headsets.

@@LifeIsJustARide I discovered him in the late 70's, and was hooked, and his era not only never died, but he's been putting out records and doing shows without any major breaks at all, and probably will continue until he just can't do it anymore, and knowing him, if his hands no longer work, he will have someone make him a system he can trigger the synths and sequencers with whatever body parts he can still move, like his lips, tongue, knees...! The man is 20% flesh, and 80% music! I've seen him live 3 times, and bought just about every record he put out, but he also made some there are only very few ever made, and idea of limited edition isn't in the thousands or even hundreds, but either one for each audience member for a single show, under 100 copies and similar to be auctioned for charity, and things like that. There is even one of just a single one of a kind, album on vinyl from a one time live radio broadcast, for which there was high security so no one at the studio could be recording it secretly... than when they pressed the single album, they destroyed any that didn't turn out right (Warp, or off center, as well as the mold! It has an even wilder story: A man who never even heard of him, was driving cross country, lost reception, tuned it to whatever station he could receive, and liked what he was hearing, but somehow got into a terrible car accident😯, when he came to the radio was still playing it and it calmed the man while passerby's rendered first aid until the ambulance arrived, the next day, probably still in critical care he asked everyone he could what the station was... and someone at the hospital knew exactly what he was talking about and told him what it was, and that there's a fat chance he would get his hands on it for being a one of a kind to be auctioned off soon (a weak or two). The man thought it contributed to his survival because he nearly bled to death, and it prevented him from panicking to where he probably would have, and had to have it. He plundered his bank accounts... and either went to the auction, sent a family member, or hired an auction buyer to get it... but I don't remember if he won the auction, or begged the person who did to sell it to him, but he did end up with it!🤯 I believe it was over 150,000 French Franks, in the 1980's if I'm correct. And the story is still out there I'm sure! I do have the show, because of course people taped it of the radio, and it's out there, but sans the one off cover art... which few have ever seen. I may not have this one entirely correct either, but I remember a video here on RU-vid not too long ago where he was showing off some very limited release (maybe just 5 or 10) on the day it arrived at his house! I think it was a CD, and interactive DVD software combo with a large Book of high quality artwork and print where the DVD software uses a mild form of AI (random generator) to reconfigure the sequences so that it's different every time you listen to it! So there are some that I have not got my hands on, and maybe never will, because I cannot afford what some of them would probably go for which I'm sure increases over time and even jumps up in price every time on gets lost, or busted... and after he is no longer with us😢who knows how high. As to "his era", Tangerine dream never stopped either and even after Edgar Froese died in 2015, his mates carried on, and are still active, with the last album being from 2022. They changed way too much for my taste and I only like a few albums after the late 80's where they became more of a New age band. The Bauman, Froese, Franke years (70's) were the best: Freaking incredible, and believe it or not, but there are a few bands out there now that emulate that style and era very well that are fantastic, so you may want to look into it. Great timeless music like that may never go out of style! Happy holidays!

Jean-Michel Jarre will always be one of the greatest composers to ever exist. His way of continuing to surprise the audience with both new songs and timeless classics is incredible. How he uses everyday sounds, like the turning of a candle flame or the flap of a pigeon's wings, as a means of introduction or for setting the correct mood or ambience is outstanding. His dexterity to go from dramatic, rhythmical and intense music to harmonic, expansive and symphonic melodies is beyond recognition. He is the embodiment of the musical imagination combined with the experimentalism of 21st century technology. With virtual reality he has opened a new way of spectacle and appreciation of his magnificent works and for all kinds of musical genres. Now people can witness live the splendour of his ouvres while being at distance. I have been listening to Jean-Michel Jarre's compositions ever since I was small and always has it never ceased to amaze me. From Oxygene and Equinoxe to Rendez-vous, Les Chantes Magnetiques and beyond, it is a journey I will always appreciate to experience over and over again through my headphones and hope to truly live it in a concert. With this I wish to give my congratulations to Jean-Michel Jarre for astonishing us and to give my gratitude to him for once again sharing his marvelous talent. Salutations from Costa Rica. 🇨🇷

Thank you Jean-Michel Jarre for always staying fresh, innovative and forward thinking. Unlike 99,99% of older, successful artists, you are still taking risks and are embracing the recent technological and musical developments. You are doing to electronic music what David Bowie did for rock or what Miles Davis did in jazz: reinventing your musical style in every decade, on almost every album. This concert was visually beautiful and more advanced compared to the animantion quality of Alone Together or Welcome to the other side. The music was a great mix of old classics, popular Electronica hits, but I liked the little surprises the most: the opening song, the AERO versions and especially Falling Down, which you played at a concert for the first time. The technical issues with the RU-vid stream and the VR Room however, were really disappointing, the technical team failed. Please do what's neccessary and make sure that this will never happen again. Anyways, thanks for this concert and I'm looking forward to your next project.

To me, one thing stands out here, in terms of visual art: the transformation of the ancient aristocrats into futuristic robots in Revolution Industrielle. The idea is amazing, with a message: the past lives on, there is continuity in everything about the State of France, be it 400 years or more. The spirits of those who once lived there have transformed and are now playing virtual music at the palace. Very moving. Thank you, Jean-Michel.

That track was bangin', I would love to see him do a dance festival in the summer. To be honest, there were many danceable tracks in the set. But I've been a fan since the 80s and I know that it really isn't really a dance crowd that attends the concerts. Brilliant concert, loved it!

I haven't actually listened to Jean Michel Jarre's music since the early 80ies, when I had some on vinyl, only rediscovered his music when I thought I recognized a snippet of an old JMJ track in a movie. I did an internet search for it and found he has been performing this show just 3 weeks ago, not even far away and still very impressive, mixing old an new material and with all the AR show. Respect! He still got it. Great!

What an amazing Christmas Miracle this treat was! I have watched this 4 times now. How can any musician aged 75 have this amount of energy, stage presence, visual and musical intention? If any EDM "dj" half his age did something like this then THAT would be ground-breaking. A very nice selection of tracks old and newer for an 1 hour show. Most tracks carefully reworked and freshened up, staying relevant for fans who enjoyed the original catchy tunes 20, 30,40, nearly 50 years ago. It is obvious that this is a compact setup with backup sequences synced to the light and graphics. OF COURSE it has to be so. But unlike "dj"s in latex catsuits pretending to turn knobs constantly without reason then Jarre is rather transparently showing he is interacting with the gear and prepared material. Piano here, soloing there, triggering sound effects there, maybe turning 2 knobs which we don't know what was doing(?) Sure, it would be nice to have a live percussionist, a bass player or a rock solid synth demonstrator who can play any sequence as tight as the original recording. There would still be a massive amount of backing needed for these more complex orchestrations. Let's get real, this is a tight space and a tight performance. Very well done and executed by the whole team! Cons: I don't see the MR glasses being relevant for performing artists or improving the performance, camera angles and constant fast movement made me dizzy (feeling older now), the streaming was too choppy (but this version is good). Jarre should have 4 arms so he can clap and interact with the audience while playing. Scaling this to 10.000, 100.000 or 1.000.000 of old days seems like a challenge. But hey, seeing this performed for 400 at an intimate beautiful location and nay-sayers would have denied it could be done. Once again Jarre DID it.

Only JMJ could come up with a concert in such a venue in such a unique manner, with such innovation and inspiration. The best versions of old favorites and newer tracks....Please keep on innovating and redefining what is possible. I've been a fan since 1977, and been to concerts in Paris and LA.... and each one was an amazing experience that has impacted my life, and JMJ's music forms the soundtrack of my life!

I had the fortune to have met Jean Michelle.Jarre and Isabelle Adjani back in the early 2000's when I worked as a Physiotherapist at a well known health resort in Thailand and they were both very nice friendly and open people . He was Incredibly intuitively intelligent and always looking for inspiration regarding his work and interactions with others . A Genius .

Grab a notebook and pencil and Take notes as a brilliant composer grows up who changed the lives of all of us with his revolutionary music and I believe that today's teenagers who discover him ... are surprised that such sensational music can exist, it makes you you feel like ... in the future, and now, after 40 years, it's timeless music, or infinite, as I like to say ... always music of the future, no matter how much time passes

I have to admit that I found JMJ only through the work of Hipnosis and later Ed Starink. I kept hearing the Hipnosis version of O4 occasionally on the radio and TV - then in 1990 I finally managed to catch the name of the song which had haunted me for long. The search begun, but nobody would know WTF I was talking about - then after getting some money as a present (after taking my Evangelic-Lutheran confirmation), I went to the local antiquarist/record dealer. Not a true record shop, but they had a random selection of old and new records, and would occasionally order to the client's wishes. Their manager actually knew enough to say that it is s JMJ song originally, but the only specimen he had was one of the Ed Starink cover collections that had been out for a year or two. I grabbed that, went home, and listened. YES! YES! I then went to seek and acquire more music by a few of the artists Ed covered as well. But as everyone probably knows, Ed Starink, while being a capable musician, even having authored some music himself, seemed to be in a hurry to produce these compilations - I have understood he had been picked to do them, apparently after Power Records failed to get the permissions of the original artists to publish compilations of original performances. Now... if I had found Ed Starink first, and heard any other JMJ cover form him, especially EQ5... maybe that would not have sparked my interest in JMJ's work - it was a really haphazardly built mess IMO, and does no justice to the original. Anyway, now that this route chose me (I didn't choose the route) I am glad to have become a fan!!!
