Imagine, 16 years old, 1978, top floor of the highest building in the city, in a former laundry room we had our fm radio. Night, the smell of cigarettes, the warm breath of the transmitter that filled the room and embraced us, this song was the theme song of the night program, intimate, relaxed, listeners' calls, pause, another cigarette, a trip to the terrace , the lights of the city formed a carpet 80 meters below us ... we felt capable of anything ... and now I'm just an old man digging youtube to be buried with memories ...
With an estimated 3.5 million people in attendance, Jean-Michel Jarre's performance of Oxygene in Moscow in 1997 holds the world record for the largest audience in concert history.
@@MarquesJo71 questionable numbers for that concert. Brazil tends to embellish their concert numbers. We were on Copacobana beach for New Years 2013. Media in Brazil claimed millions were in attendance but there was barely half a million people, lol
I ln the 80s i would pop a cassette in my 73 Buick Centurion convertible player with the top down and drive into the night with this track blasting imagining traveling into the eternal cosmos forever.
For me, what makes JMJ shine above so many other electronic musicians of the time, are his melodies, they never sound forced, they are like naturally existing phenomena.

I have been searching for this song for over 30 years. I finally found it and I am so happy. My dear father (RIP) used to play this record during his painting sessions, I was just a toddler but this music had a huge impact in my life. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for publishing this song on youtube.
Brought the Album Oxygen on Vinyl back in 1976 and loved it. Mates thought I was weird. They listened to Disco Duck back in the day. Jean Michel Jarre was well ahead of his time. Got me hooked on electronic Music to this very day :-)
You picked the worst exemple back in the day. I consider disco duck as a joke. Of course the disco era as a whole as great and mostly had great songs. The supremacy of disco doesn't devalue other genres of music with good songs.
1982/3/4 ? Lake of Annecy summer with two friends lying on one a jetty fully pissed then these guys gave a live concert. I had one of the first CD players. Bought this album immediately. Legends!!
Choice between Sorcerer (Tangerien D. ) and Body Love (KS) was for me difficulty that only number of parts has decide of... Poor childless opportunities,,, until Spiral and "To the Unknow Man"... A few days without MIDI-eating during my studies for each album...
@@PUTLER_KAPUTT_ ничего подобного.
I love the sound, I loved it when I was a kid and my Dad had the Vinyl, I listen to it all the time, and now almost 50, I still found it awsome, the sounds he created are stunning......
I have loved electronic music ever since the 1960s, such as from Walter (Wendy) Carlos Tangerine Dream, and similar artists. I was totally blown away by this Oxygene when it was first released. It is a timeless work of art.' I've never tired of it. JMJ is my favorite composer, hands down.
I was able to see him live at a concert in Dresden (Germany) 11 years ago. I was lucky to have a front row seat right in front of him. It was an absolute dream and I still get goose bumps when I think about the brilliant laser show and the sound. His music is simply timelessly beautiful. He is also a very likeable artist.
Rest in peace my Paul richard loye!! I will always think of our happy times together!! I will forever miss you and love you!!! Rest in peace my darling paul, this tune reminds me of you so so much!! XXXX XXXX❤❤❤❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏💔🥲💔🥲
A friend introduced me me to him around 1979 and my soul has loved his music since then. It's magic and beautiful. I saw him once in Sweden, Gothenburg around 1995 I think. I fall asleep listening to his magic music a couple of times a week and will do as long as live❤️ Thanks for your magic melodies Jarre🙂
I loved seeing those old electronic instruments! Was tempted to say 'machines', but... wow. I do bet that most 2023 machines won't live on for several decades.
Jean Michel Jarre, Still the best! His music transports you to another side of the heart! Still after 20+yrs. it stirs my emotions to endless possibilities of being...Oxygen II
Oh wow. I remember listening to his music in Italy as a kid. My parents had all his tapes, and they used to get played constantly during his heyday! Timeless...
Oxygene is one of the most original composition of Jean Michel Jarre and it has withstood the test of time and the evolution of digital electronica. The innocence and freshness of his music provide most of its charm and his techniques and ability provide the rest. Excellent show and fantstic music, my dear Sylvie. Thank you so much for sharing with me. Warm hugs, kisses and a great weekend, Anca
Late 70's our choirmaster called us out because we didn't respect the rest signs, in a Verdi's score. "Silences are also music", he told us. Master Jean-Michel Jarre uses white noise (all audible frequencies played together) as music. When musical geniuses like Verdi or Jarre use them, it's music to the ears.
Ive had the pleasure of seeing jean michel jarre live 3 times london docklands 1988 Wembley stadium 1993 and Wembley arena 1998 all amazing shows and still love his music to this day
This is the most iconic song and album of JMJ. For me he is a sort of inspiration of all the music he created. I've disovered his music at age of 8-9 and I'm 22 years old. I produce music for myself since 2013.
My dad got me into JMJ with "Images" which is just one of the soundtracks of my childhood. My GCSE Music composition was based on the very simple but effective beginning dual chords. As well being a lover of Trance music, he's regarded as one of the forefathers of Trance and Electronic music. Fantastic watching him making the music and the level of detail he brings in his performance
Seeing all that technology required for that sounds... fascinating. Today any keyboard can create it, but in 1976 it was not only finding the melody, but also engineering all that sounds
My first electronic music I listen was Tangerine Dream. After that I got hooked on electronic music. They dont play it on the radio to much. Thanks You Tube for posting. I like JMJ music especially. I close my eyes and float away its so relaxing.
used to trip out to this when i was a wee lad on my uncles epic hifi in the early 1980s.i was like 6 or 7? this was in a WW1 m,ovie about my countrymen -Gallipoli. THIS is why i now am a musician and producer! thank u
