Free quilting class and sewing lessons! And as in a 'classroom' setting, my tutorials are approximately 1/2 hour+ long....So Join me in my home sewing room making all sorts of quilted goodies! Be aware ~ I like to chat and probably repeat myself over and over, (and stutter sometimes), and if this annoys you, then view elsewhere - but, if patient, you hopefully will learn a new method or technique! Jean's Block Party 2018 ~ Today is Block #12!! More than halfway done our sampler blocks! This is an easy one - block 11 was much more challenging!! :) Send your finished blocks to: truelovequiltsforyou@gmail.com and I will upload them on the Community Blocks page at:

I love the block a week. It keeps me from feeling guilty for leaving my sewing machine out on the kitchen table all week. Thank you for taking the time to make these videos and thank you for not editing out all the places where your thinking out loud. That helps me not be discouraged when I'm sewing. I've only been sewing for a couple of months. All of this is new to me. Thanks for making it fun and easy.
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
I'm the original 'one take and in the can' type of gal!!! :) Can't be bothered making it all picture~perfect! Sewing/quilting/life isn't like that!! :) Thanks for watching!

I look forward to the weekly blocks. I thank you for your time to teach us the techniques for quilting. I'm glad you are feeling better and pray for continued healing. Thank you again for all your time and knowledge and willingness to pass along the skills and encouragement to learn quilting in a very relaxed and fun format.

... talent as well, Jean. That is part of the package! My mom used to say ... ' no one can take away your talent.' She didn't do much with hers and sometimes that used to piss her off when she was doing the dishes. ..but she had a way with her room that you could happily sit in forever!
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
Dear old mom had a real 'talent' then...to make her home and room a safe haven!! :)

So lovely to hear you again, love your mess ups! You asked what we all want, Jean, in your words, “ if you want to or not”. In other words, we all have choices to see you, to follow you whenever, that’s the best of you tube, we can go back, pause or shut down! So dear Jean, just do what you do, when you can, and you enjoy too, as I do, anytime. Love Kris in Lymington, England.

Glad you're feeling better. Your hair is beautiful today! Love, love, love this new block. Personally I love getting a new block each week even if I don't get it sent to you right away. Schedules get busy as they sometimes do and I just fit in my sewing where I can. I love sewing way more than I thought I would (even when I have to redo a block). Being a crafter though, I am entranced by all the fabric colors and textures. I very much look forward to your new post each week. This week I am working on this block and last weeks block. I need to focus but it will get done. Thank you for all you do for us and again, I am glad you are feeling better.
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory

hi jean, so glad you are better and up and about. thanks for all the time you are putting into finding blocks for us to learn. I love this block and also I loved block "11 last week. It really looked hard but once I broke it down and started to sew it all came together very nicely. Now, I really like the block a week. Plus we are almost finished and it is not dragging out. But, what every you decide is just fine with me. Thanks again for all your help.
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory

It’s great for a quick table runner and people will think you worked so hard. :). As for sending pics of my blocks, I didn’t want to overburden your email. Thanks for telling us about Project Linus. I'm retired so have lots of time to play in my sewing room making lots of UFOs. Enjoy donating and have made several Cross Body purses for the Sew Powerful project. The Rare Bear organization never sent the tag that has to be sewn to bear. Guess I'll give cute bear to a great niece. Really like the small quilt you show at end of tutorial. I have several packs of gorgeous Batik layer cakes and charm packs that would make pretty disappearing 9 patch quilts to donate.

So happy you're feeling better! Personally, I love your timing. It doesn't take that long to make a block even with a busy schedule. Waiting for one per month would be torturous! Haha! As for why the pictures have been tapering off, there are probably a few reasons. One, I think it's the nature of anything that people tend to start things and not finish them. It's the same reason why the gyms are crowded in January but empty in March. Secondly, I think it's been a while since you've mentioned your website or the fact that you'd enjoy seeing block pictures; people might need a reminder of what to do. I try to take pictures of mine but sometimes Sunday comes and goes and I forget. :)
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory

I havnt been submitting photos of my blocks as i was going to wait till the quilt was completed before posting a photo.
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
Aw, bless your hubby!! You get them on Monday....soo you can tell me what they look like before I post them!!! LOL! LOL!! And I am keeping it at once a week. That way I won't get bored either! :)

Jean, glad you back in the groove. I don't have any problem keeping up with your vids. I mean, it's like popping in for a coffee. I have some good news. I am moving out of the dirty city to the coast and am packing. Should be away in a couple of weeks. All my lovely patchwork coming with me and Rowan designs. You look OK, anyway and Spring has finally arrived, Jean
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
Yay for the coast! Hope the move goes well and smooth and you can get back to what is important ~ quilting! :)

well hello, so glad to see back with the living, and feeling better. Now this block has the thumbs up from me :) but, just want to say, you cant please all of the people all of the time. Some of your followers like to make difficult and some do not. Take me !!!! I like it simple and quick :/ At the moment I have 8 blocks, woooops, don't tell. I will make it up, like you mentioned the log cabin...I can make a log cabin that takes no measuring!!!! simple, that's me :/ as for e.mailing photos, I have not got round to doing this like many others but we are still here following along. I'm babling now, must get it from you LOL. The weather !!!! there is a mention of snow over easter, it has happened in the past, wait and see,
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
I'm going to try and show an EASY log cabin method, using a large center square and more of a scrappy method. Thanks so much for your concern...I have survived! :) The weather is still chilly but Spring is coming soon! :) Not here yet! :)

Missed you so much, glad you are doing better. Love your top Keep doing them, I haven't started any, I am making your table runner right now I saw on some of the quilting groups said you have to watch the jelly rolls that they are not 2 1/2. I measured one I have and is not 2 1/2. They said by Jordan fabrics they are cut correctly.
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
You have to be careful with some jelly rolls ~ as you found out! You are making the 'twisted pole' runner, aren't you?? That is a pretty one also! :)

Hurray! you're feeling better! I look forward to new blocks eagerly, so whatever works best for you is just fine. They're not too frequent, I'm just choosing not to do some of them right now. I do enjoy looking at everyone's blocks; some of the work is positively inspiring! P.S. Did I hear you say "First day of Spring we got 13 inches of SEW"??!! You are the best.
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
I actually like the idea of once a week - I too would be bored to death waiting waiting waiting for a silly quilt block ~ once a month! So yes I will continue with that. I am just SO SO impressed with every bodies blocks! So you go my little plug of 'Sew'?!?!?! LOL!

Jean I like your videos you're very sweet and you do the best that you know how it's very hard for an advanced quilter to go down back to the level of a beginner and so it was difficult for you to see that block as a beginner so I hope that in the future you will do one of these for intermediate because that's kind of the level I am but I am an intermediate level so yeah super super easy thanks for all you do and don't take it to heart because it was difficult for some they don't realize just how difficult it is to go backwards but having said that I am Joy doing a simple block or to make a quick quilts just for the ease of enjoying your sewing not being so worried about getting everything just right. I think having to struggle and learn all the time kind of takes the fun out of using what you've already learned so it's always nice to go back and do that sweet simple block get it all quilted and everything so you can sit back and enjoy what you have made
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
I think you are correct ~ I'll throw in a bit of a challenging one now and then.........beginners have to sometimes just jump in and DO IT!!! :)

Yes the twisted table runner.I had a problem took a pressure foot off my sewing machine and the adaptor came off. I tried for days to put it on and my fingers and hands can't hold anything I was so upset. I watched videos and looked in my book. The screw that held it on was on the right. All videos showed it was on the right. I asked my husband and he got it on, screw was on the left. hE GOT IT ON SO HAPPY. wIll work on it today.

beautiful Jean! I didn’t know Walmart sold charmpacks! Mine doesn’t, they sell single fat quarters I know.

Our little WarMart only sells single fat quarters, but a super WalMart down the road carries a SUPER line of pre cuts, and yardage! There solids are truly wonderful! :)

Thinking this sampler would be perfect for a quilt as you go quilt to practice my ruler work. 🤔🤔🤔 The problem is I'm trying to finish my UFOs! My current UFO has black thread and my next in line is tan thread, and the fabric I want to use for this will use white. Hmmm, I really want to do this! Should I break out my Kenmore and have two projects going at once!!?? Oh the dilemma!!!
@booomanchu

P. S. I love this entire video, especially the end. Made me smile 😊❤
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
Thank you! I don't particularly like the 'quilt as you go' method, because of the finishing up part/sashing/etc. But if you like that, then GO For it!!! :) I know....so many quilts...so little time! :) THank you for watching! :)

Jean, your scissors are attached to something?? Am I right? Teach me if you do. I have made pockets to go under my sewing machine and made it to fit my scissors.Do look at the 7/8" Ruler at Shabby Fabrics. Its really nice.
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
I tie my scissors to the power cord to the right of my machine with a long cord ~ even if they drop on the ground, easy to pull up the cord ~ they never go walkabout! :) I checked out that ruler ~ a super buy for under $20!!

I'm loving this block! Cant wait to make it for my block for our "bock party". I want to make my sister a smaller quilt with this block..by any chance do you know the size square to start with to make a 9" block?
@jeantruelovetruelovequiltsfory
Oh dear...Have you been following me?!?!? If you do, you would know I am TOTALLY useless at math! I wouldn't have a clue how to 'size this block' down! So Sorry!! :/ But thank you anyway! :) Good luck finding someone who can REALLY help you!!! :)
