Jeans Aren't Techwear...Or Are They? Veilance Cambre REVIEW

If they arent water-resistant, ripstop, breathable & fireproof with 15 pockets and straps... are they really techwear?

I had the black cambre from SS20. I've worn these twice to replace my old black jeans then immediately sold them on grailed. As a big thighed dude, this is the only veilance item I can fit into. The waist on the secants has a low rise, The colorway and when the light shines on the jeans are sick. Surprisingly lightweight despite how rigged and metallic they look. The fit on these is massive compared to other veilance pants. The thigh and seat are huge, but the waist was normal. My athletic legs fitted fine but the waist was too tight when I bent down. It also sharply tapers down like a spike fit. You can't see how tight they are on the ankle in photos because of how the jeans stack from the knee down. I recently tried on the cambre pants in-store and they definitely flatter me now. I'll grab a pair soon.

Untucked with the jacket, this is one of your best casual fits ever! The amazing seams and lines really elevate the aesthetic just enough to tie everything together, although I couldn't help laughing at the Prada belt

Been wearing some veilance gear like hats, jackets and pants for a while now. I would say it might not be your favourite piece, but you would never regret buying it.

the cambre is the only pair of techware style pants that have immediately made me go "ooooo" I've always loved the technical and performance style, but I have never really wanted to cut out what I already wear. these seem like a good middle ground

Jeans are breathable, durable, can be recycled (unlike any plastic based "tech" materials) and can even be made of organic certified cotton... What more performance do you need?

Quick recommendation, the mainline Arc offers the Konseal pants which have nearly the same cut, articulation, geometric pockets, etc. Not denim, but cotton/nylon

One of the things I've always wanted to put together was a fit based around character designs from Half-Life 2, which require a lot of big, bulky military styles in grey or blue, and a lot of obvious texturing from the cloth. These look almost perfect for that, I might pick them up!

these definitely strike me as less of a "future mall ninja" pair of pants and more of a "middle management in 2085" pair of pants, but i kind of like that. it's another avenue to the "techwear" umbrella in a way, more sleek and "corporate" as opposed to militaristic.

Finally, the sleeveless denim jacket for those tech/rock gigs? Coming soon?

Personally I am a big fan of mixing denim with techwear. Having some classic cut selvedge jeans paired with a powerful and sturdy jacket with a pair of New Balance is what I'd be going for.

I wear more classic street and menswear but I often find myself lacking functionality when I'm out doing stuff with my dog, things just isn't smudge- and water-proof enough for my needs so I hope I will be able to find something like this but with a less futuristic styling.

If someone really wanted to find more "traditional" techwear inspired jeans, Crisiswear might be worth looking into. Pants I've ordered a few months ago have some technical features, like articulated knees and back pockets that align more towards the back side of the leg rather than on the cheeks. They're also pretty solidly put together. I've found no evidence of bad stitching and I don't believe they'll fall apart any time soon. The brand in general does lean towards the dystopian aesthetic, straps, buckles, hoods, but they don't seem too far out of left field. Plus they have some feminine options as well.

These are the kind of pants you see in a lot of futurist media, they're still jeans but have an extra level of functionality and more striking design elements that make you think "oh, future" before you think "ah they're just levi's"

I've been thinking a lot about getting into the warcore style but I have 3 issues. 1, I'm old (45). 2, I'm chonccy (103kg), 3, I have confidence issues. I'm a bit worried that I just won't suit the style. Is there anywhere in the UK which specialises in warcore / techwear where I can see what might suit me, or will I have to throw money at overseas retailers and hope? I'll probably never go back to denim, stopped wearing it before I even knew about techwear. Nothing about the look or feel is appealing to me. Maybe with a more futuristic cut (even more than the Veilance, which I find a little baggy in the wrong way) it could work for me, but most of it just makes me feel like an old-timey coal miner. I much prefer something like gabardine

Where's the Hollywood waistband talk? That was one of the first things to catch my eye. A Hollywood waistband is when the front facing fabric goes all the way up to form the top of the pant, without a separate, horizontal waistband element being sewn on. This is very hard to find today, even from traditional menswear outlets. Style was popular in the 1930s era. Very few off the rack options and most of those are more of a historic replica prop shop than a fashion brand. Was hoping to see some inside the pants footage to see how it was all assembled and finished out. Arcteryx Veilance Cambre pants are my up my alley. My aesthetic is traditional menswear but I appreciate technical fabrics and I don't want to look futuristic, dystopian or warcore. Guerilla Group has great Canadian Tuxedos with impeccable attention to detail and world building but too dystopian. 5.11's tactical jean has awful whiskering and distressing that's off putting to me. Triple Aught Design's denim is a little boring. These pants have an appealing combination of different looks and an interesting fabric. $400 USD for OTR is harder to swallow. That's well in to the price range of MTM and customized pants (although none with this style.) Thank you for bringing this to my attention.

You can essentially think of techwear as two schools: Shinra corp / the Turks in their veilance gear, and then Avalanche, decked out in everything else

Those are too big for you, and sit a bit too low to look flattering. Very notieable around the crotch, back and waist. If they were the right size you would not have to use a belt... Size up and maybe set them higher on your waist? There is a bit too much fabric all over really... Great quality work and clothes...just commenting on the fit
