Should I be ( Proud ) Should I be ( Embarrassed ) , Actually I think you should be considered an honorable jeep owner.....! I'm right there with you. Any relationship requires intimate knowledge and hands-on time in the saddle you might say. Stay blessed Jimmy, And stay safe out there. Danny in Texas
You made that look so easy! I have fitted up the trans to the bell housing but when I put a socket on the front pully of the motor, I can’t turn it! I took the trans back off thinking the converter must not be seated properly and it’s jamming up, but it sure seems to be right. It’s a head scratcher 🤷🏻♂️
@@Munoz916 yes. I went and bought 4 long bolts to fit in the bell housing. I cut the heads off and then screwed them into the bell housing by hand. It was really easy to guide the transmission over the bolts and line it up. Then I just removed one treaded rod at a time and replaced it with the actual bell housing bolt. Worked a treat :)
@@JeepinJimmy In the beginning of your video you stated that your jeep does not move when in drive. I have the same issue with my jeep when I put it in drive but mine does move but it only goes up to around 30 mph im guessing it’s the torque converter but I’m not sure if I have a bad transmission all the gears shift good reverse is strong. Just trying to get a little more feed back before I drop the transmission thank you.
Nice video! You dident talk about adding fluid to the torque converter though . My transmission is a rebuild and I’m not sure how to do that. Pretty sure your supposed to put fluid in it
Great video! I have a 96 and a 98 but my 98 is about to bite the dust and my 96 has 296k on the clock. The 96 transmission is making an awful chatter once and a while. I believe its the torque converter but im just not sure! do you have any advice on a 98 to 96 Transmission swap? Im not trying to scrap my 98 for parts just yet but im trying to plan for the future (Hopefully not near!)
Great job Jimmy! Got a favor to ask. Can you give me measurement for the overall length from the front face of the bell housing to the mounting surface of the transfer case? I'm doing the SYE on my Bumble Jeep and I have the AXN15. I purchased a front driveshaft for a manual XJ and it looks like it's going to be too short. I suspect the AW4 is longer which would make the front driveshaft for an automatic longer. All of the SYE videos seem to just swap out a front driveshaft for the rear when doing the SYE. Thanks for your time and help. God bless, stay well. Great to see you making videos again.
Question…. Did you have to pull the torque converter towards the flexplate before you could fit the bolts in it? Kinda wondering if mines fully seated in there or not lol
@@JeepinJimmy okay well it seems like the tc is fully seated but something’s wrong… almost sounds like a cracked flexplate again… might have to pull it back out
@@Deadbuck73 still no idea what’s wrong somethings knocking and i don’t have a place to pull the trans again so i guess it’ll have to wait till i can have a shop look at it
Need help - desperately!! My husband is dropping a new-used motor in our 2000 XJ. He has been attempting to seat the torque converter for 2 weeks...it WILL NOT SEAT. He has the tranny out of the truck and vertical. He's worked in a Speed Shop, has rebuilt a few motors - he's fairly experienced, is what I mean. He's also a problem solver and often makes tools when he needs something specific. Still cannot get this thing in. Any advice - please?!?
Make sure the torque converter is pressed all the way into the transmission, then to help align the transmission mating to the engine, get some bolts that are the same as the 2 16mm side bolts and cut the heads off. They will act as guides and keep it aligned. Hope that helps!!
@@stacymatson5041 No worries! Mine was kind of a pain also, I just had to keep turning the output shaft while trying to keep it straight and line it up
My transmission leaks very badly without dripping onto the ground and long story short might be the input shaft and I’m not gonna lie, it’s the millionth thing I’ve found wrong with it and more cussing is coming for it.
Thanks man. I always like to hear what people use. So many opinions on fluid. I heard straight dex/merc is best. Logic being that every time they change the formula it gets worse. ATF +4 seems to be the least liked fluid.@@JeepinJimmy
