Whoever came up with the t-shirt idea is a genius. Getting a $10 t-shirt after paying hundreds for a tow out of a bad/scary situation makes people inordinately happy. It helps to turn a bad experience into an adventure complete with souvenir. For a tiny cost that's easily recoverable from the fee, Matt gets happier customers and great advertising.
It really is a good idea. He’s also very considerate and never judges them for how they got stuck. Turns a shitty situation it something a little nicer.
It is brilliant, if for no other reasons, than bringing everyone's stress level down after a bad day. It really seems to force everyone to smile. I have been in a lot of crazy, stressful, and outright life-threatening situations all over the World, and have come to appreciate the value of a few jokes, a smile, and generally making light of what could otherwise potentially turn in to a very big therapists bill for treating PTSD. None if tgese situations seem to strike me as that dangerous, but for people that are not use to it, definitely helps to settle everyone down. I always remember my trips where things went wring, I often forget about the ones where nothing special happened.
Offering to let them ride in the Banana, or even better the snowcat, really helps make the experience better too. I got stuck on the beach in Arcata, CA once and got to ride in small cat track that came out to get me. An expensive $300 ride in the sand, but you're right, it really made it a more of a fun memory!
Matt, I’ve been watching your videos for the last year and I want you know that I really appreciate all that I have learned from your channel. I’m a fleet manager for a small town in northern Colorado. I bought a cheap 3/4 rope last year for just in case after watching your videos. 2 weeks ago we had a crazy storm come in and dumped 2 feet of snow on us in 2 days. This was an abnormal event for us. I was able to save thousands of tax dollars and many hours from hiring and waiting for recovery trucks by pulling out our own equipment. I probably never would have attempted these recoveries myself if it wasn’t for you. I am a true believer now and have since purchased a 1” rope and a 1 1/2” rope from yankum for future recoveries. Again because of you. You are an inspiration as father, husband, brother, and leader. Thank you again and I wish you continued success and health. Keep the great content coming.
Randy does a good job of greeting people and asking them what happened. It adds a good element to the episodes. The fact that he's a big friendly goofball also helps!
In a few years this is going to be a tourist attraction, people heading cross country, “honey find a nice place to get stuck so we can call Windor, it says it right here in the pamphlet”
I am 100 % sure that's already a thing. Some of these guys really don't look stuck..The Subie (I think.) stuck in the mud on Cry Baby I think is the worst example I can think of.
Im not going to lie, when i seen the jeep i was thinking, it was going to give him some trouble, It worked out Nice and smooth, Good Job... EDIT: Lizzy did a good job too it was team work
Yeah, a lot of people don't understand snow and ice. The vast majority of vehicles I see in the ditch after snowfalls are 4 wheel drive. They think they are safe with 4 wheel drive. It helps somewhat but if you don't slow down you are asking for trouble. And ice is way worse than snow.
@@rickmossop3733 When I was a kid my family was coming home from the mountains (CO) on a snowpacked highway, we were passed by a full size Bronco going too fast around a curve, by the time we got around the curve it was off the side on its roof. 4 wheel drive is helpful, but not invincible.
This recovery reminded Lizzy that the customer may have dealt with more difficult conditions than she did. She didn't see any ice, but the customer certainly did.
With Lizzie's dancing practice, if the car will be upside down, with the nose in the deeper bit, she will still have no issue getting behind the steering wheel and fastening seatbelt, ready for the tow 🤣
Good video. Rudy did a great job of surveying the job and hooking up that jeep on the steep incline. Randy did well with the greetings and getting the story, great job. Matt did well fixing the fan motor. Lizzy did an awesome driving job. Ed did a super report. Awesome !
If I ever meet Ed in person I expect him to say "Yeah, nice to meet you, it's clear and cold, not too windy today...if you get stuck, we'll get em out!"
I love the recoveries but I have to say the reason I keep watching is randy. It's like having shaggy from scooby doo narrate an off road recovery. Now that's quality RU-vid
Love watching these older recoveries. But as a more recent subscriber - really hard to beat any recoveries with the Morrvair. Really good to see how much you all have grown and continued to succeed! 😊
I must say that I just love watching 👀 all off your posts and the adventures I am going on with you and the crew. I realized a few months ago that Randy talks and has the same attitude as my brother. My brother used to work with me at my towing and recovery company. Unfortunately, he passed away in 2014. Brad had the same giggle as well. Thanks for the wonderful memories.
I have no idea why these are so entertaining and fun to watch and I genuinely get excited to see them pull someone out. I think I've gone through 80% of all the videos, liked them all. Thanks for this content.
I love that weatherman Ed you're amazing God bless you as well as the crew cameraman everybody involved watching all the way from Spain I really enjoy these videos thank you so much💯👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻💯🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏💯❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
My cousin came over to borrow some stuff. I came home he was really stuck, far, far from where the part was. “I backed up, tried to go forward, backed up.......”. I still use that “landmark”. I tell him. “Go West from where your Orange truck got stuck”. His kid asks “what”. ;)
The Jeep recovery was very smooth, great job. I would have been lightening the load, roof and interior before attempting it. Great job, Matt will be smiling at that one
Given that the newer 'WJ' weighs at least 1000 pounds more than the XJ, and is at a 40 degree side slope, that was one impressive recovery. Nice job on Lizzie's part too.
That was a very capable jeep that had just gone in a little bit beyond its capabilities. A little help from Rudy and it drove out. I suspect if they were in an isolated area they would have got themselves out with some time and muscle. Easier to call Matt!
If it's a paved road you're alot less likely to get a ticket by calling a tow company or if its gonna be insurance related. I'm all for clearing brush, tearing up the bank and rigging winch lines across the road but the highway patrol might not like it 😄
Hi Matt my name is George and I wanted to say thank you for putting g out great videos ....me and my 11 year old son watch every chance we get....my son will sit and watch u guys non stop and because of u he wants to be a recovery guy now lol...so I told him you can learn a lot from Matt and become aa good recovery man...you lizzy Rudy and tucker are his favorite keep up the great content man we love your videos
In my experience, 4L, or 4 H period not advised on ICE. makes things worse for my 3/4 ton. Save the 4x4 for when you slide off the slick blacktop hopefully with just 2 wheels. Great video! Informational
@@seanmcpherson7962 fortunately I have no death wobble. As far as lifts go, for WJ's Iron Rock, Clayton Off road, Rustys, and Rough Country all make nice long arms lifts. To me the most important thing is to have the jeep aligned at a good off road shop, not a tire store like firestone. The other thing is how high you want to lift and what size tires you want to run.
HI MATT AND THE CREW A JOB WELL DONE JUST KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK AND MAY THE LORD BE WITH YOU AND YOUR FAMILY AND FRIENDS AS YOU TRAVEL AMEN AND PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND STAY SAFE AMEN AND THANK YOU FOR SHARING YOUR VIDEO AND THANK YOU
When I saw how Rudy was rigging the jeep with 2 ropes I said to myself that isn't going to work. But I've been an engineer long enough to learn that sometimes, experience is more useful than a degree.
I've been watching the 'Highway thru hell' series for a while now, where heavy tow operators pull big rigs and other equally huge and heavy machinery out of some pretty dire situations. Many times I have looked at what they're doing and thought "well that ain't gonna work!" and boom - out it comes. These tow guys have a knack of pulling these recoveries off despite the odds.
Note to the editor: Right at 6:00 when Lizzie is talking, I and the about 30% of other people with Auditory Processing Disorder (APD) couldn't tell what she was saying because the music was about at the same level as her. Wikipedia has a good article on APD, but the gist of it is that if the background noise is too high we have no idea what people are saying and just say, "Huh? What?" a lot. (We also have no idea of lyrics in most songs.) Thanks:) Love y'all, but who wants to miss what Lizzie is saying? Thanks for your consideration. TV, movies, and radio always get it right, but how would you know on RU-vid unless someone points it out?
I have that problem too and I always called it “going deaf from old age” but saying I have “Audio Processing Disorder” sounds so much more interesting! P.S. I’m kidding, I know that these are two different things. But there definitely is an overlap in symptoms.
@@Sashazur when I was a kid I kept getting referred to having my hearing checked. Always came out perfect. I guess they didn't know about APD in the middle ages;)
Gary is a great guy, a neighbor of at least a dozen years, and was a fellow Land Rover owner.... Until he got tired of repair bills! He just recently bought this Jeep and every time I see it, it's better than the last time! And I didn't know it was him that made the call, so it was fun to see him.
ED is my all time favorite person on this channel.. He talks shit has a good time always smiling, hell light up a cig with no fvcks giving and get to work.. haha ED is the man
I like the auxiliary cooling fan mounted to the hood. I originally thought it was too draw heat out from engine compartment during summer.. but then I saw the heater hoses...
Smith Mesa has been on my 'bucket list' roads since you guys featured it a while back. I've checked it out on Google street view so many times planning a trip. Hopefully I'll pick a time when it won't be icy or muddy so I don't have to 'make a call'. I really with the old experimental air strip up there were accessible for visitors, but alas, not possible from what I understand. The scenery there looks unparalled.
