It’s not a recall, it’s a TSB. All 2018-20 Wranglers and 2020 Gladiators are included. Just call the dealer and tell them you have a sloppy wandering steering and they are supposed to fix it for you. Remember the dealer doe NOT determine if you should get this TSB, the TSB clearly states “if the customers states this issue exists, replace the steering box”.

Mine was sloppy, did the tsb and now its perfect. Totally worth it if you have some play.

TSB'S have nothing to do with recalls, it's more of a common issue notification for mechanics. Take your vehicle in and get it serviced, once out of warranty, a TSB is not necessarily covered like a recall. You will most likely have to pay out of pocket.

I agree. This TSB is only for those customers experiencing sloppy steering. It is not a recall. Still, Rob makes a point mentioning that even if we don't have this issue, will we later down the road? I can understand many of us wanting to take care of this now. I bet all the 2021 gladiators will have the steel or cast iron housing. As I understand FCA put a hold on this upgrade due to "supply problems".

Outside of changing the steering box, I’d advise people to check their tire pressure. I fought with steering on a recent trip and later realized I was running a low pressure in the frt tires. After airing back up, everything was fine.

I took mine in today for the steering and a couple of other things. They did the reflash, which helped quite a bit, and ordered the parts to install the new gear box. Hopefully it'll be done by next weekend.

I got mine replaced months ago. It drives so much better with the new steering gearbox and the new track arm replacement. There are TSB’s for both

My gladiator wanders all over the road. Worse at higher speeds. I definitely need this. Im guessing anyone with 12" wide tires probably doesn't have this issue.

I had mine done last month and I feel it definitely helped. There was a month wait for the part when I took it in at the first of October.

By the way, it doesn't show up as a recall. Just look at the steering box, if it isn't black in color, you most likely have the aluminum box/gear.

Do it, took a lot of slack out of constantly correcting the steering. the aluminum box works itself loose over time and in warm weather acts up more. I took a copy of the TSB to the dealership and they did it, mine wasn't as bad as others but afterward it's much better. Needs to be a full recall. most likely will be later on.

If you bring it up to them they should order you a steel steering box. Not a recall yet

I had the TSB swap and it made a huge difference. Everything is right now, before it swerved like I was drunk. My friend had his done while they were replacing his engine, same results. Both Rubicons.

When we bought our 2019 Sahara I was almost afraid to drive it on the highway,all over the road,Jeep replaced the box,much much better,our 2011 jk never had that problem.

Dealership is replacing my 2021 80th anniversary steering box wo a recall next week. They tell me it should be fixed. Jeep service dept said they will fix it, all you have to do is call. They said it will get loose eventually.

It is not a recall, when you punch in your VIN it won't show because it is a TSB.

I have new 2021 Gladiator and it comes with the new steel gear box. It will be an issue for all at sometime. I think everyone should get it upgraded before the rest of your steering linkage gets slop in it and you have to replace other parts that will not be covered. Good luck everyone.

It's also going to be a bit loose compared to most other vehicles, because it is specifically made as an off road vehicle. Many people seem to forget this, or just don't know it...because 90% of Jeep buyers just want the security for inclement weather, and don't actually take them off road.

@@robmotiveplus the solid axles come into play with that also. Although, the 4 I've test driven didn't have this issue...one Sport S, and 3 Rubicons. A little more loose than my WK Overland, but I expected that.

I wanted Jeep to just install Ram truck steering in every Jeep hr run sure fix I saw grandpa guy change out. Same looking prt just heavier sure fix but instead they went 1/2 way new prt but less than Ram tough prt. Will b putting Ram prt sure fix in GOD model on down model yr I touch. Been on going problem since 2011 & black eye for Jeep + every1 runs large or larger tires so needed. If u want to run more than 37" gear box won't b enough but is problem basiclly addressed other than 38-40" tires.

Mine was horrible. It was like trying to steer a sailboat. Especially when the temperatures exceeded 80 degrees outside. I had mine done back in September just a couple weeks after the announcement. Did not want to wait. Isn't VIN related. Just year related.
