This is one of the best how-to videos I have ever watched. I wish everyone who was going to make an instructional video would watch this to see how it should be done. Thank you! I am excited to get the new Boss unit installed in my daughter's Jeep GC.
This video is definitely getting saved to my favorites! Just got financed & im picking up my 2011 Jeep GC tomorrow morning! One of the first things im doing is buying a new head unit. Thanks this is going to make it a lot easier.
Thanks for the great video. I ordered this unit and installed in my 2012 Grand Cherokee along with a Brandmotion back-up camera. Everything works well.
wtcdeals hey there, I also installed this system in my Jeep but am looking for a good backup camera. Do you have the model for the brand motion backup camera you use? It would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
you have a true talent of reviewing products and giving directions everything is perfectly explained in all your videos at first i was like what this guy doing with a car radio video but you still crushed it man
By the way, if you have problem inserting the CD in the radio, what you have to do is before you slide the radio into the dash there are couple screws on top of the radio that needs to be taken out and there is a little red label asking for removal of those screws, both the DVD for movie and CD for music work.
Awesome tutorial! I have a jeep Cherokee 2011 will this work the same for that year? As we’ll do this unit come with everything you showed in the box? I’d like to order this for my lady Jeep! Also I’d like to know the model of this unit because the link you have down for eBay doesn’t work anymore!
***EDIT/ UPDATE: 3 years later, Feb 2020 it shit the bed...tits up... About 9 months before it crapped out, it couldn't keep time. It kept going back to @ every time I started the Cherokee. I thought maybe I could reset the radio, but I couldn't find any where in the manual about a reset button. It mentions a reset, but nowhere in the manual does it show you where the damn button is... Then, out of the blue in Feb, the audio quite... No more sound. So, I removed the unit and and was starting to open her up to look for anything obvious. As I was looking for all the screws I noticed this little ittty bitty circular looking dot this next to the MicroSD card slots...and low and behold... THE RESET BUTTON!!!!! After finding that, I plugged her back in, pushed the reset button and WA LA.........NOTHING!!! It did absolutely SQUAT!!!!! Now I'm in the the market for a nicer one...however, it's not as easy as you'd think, especially for a "Plug N Play" unit...
Great video....what is the name make and model number of the radio cause I also have a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo and would like to install one in my truck......
Can you do a new updated video on how it's worked for you so far and how to operate it. I would really like to order this for my jeep but want to know if it's worth it
Good looking stereo, but how is it now? Are the steering wheel controls, Bluetooth and all the other items still working good? Thank you for your response.
Great video! Will your phone bluetooth connect to the unit you featured in the video? Sounds like I heard supports usb 2.0 correct? or do you have to use the usb cable and will it pull up the iPhone home screen? How hard was it to fit all the wires inside behind the unit? Question as I have a 2011 Jeep GC, could you suggest a model of the radio that has navigation too and has the correct screw holes on the upper and bottom sides? Perhaps model with a backup camera too?
Jay, I enjoyed and appreciated your video. It is a big help; I was curious ho you maneuvered the cord to the Nav antenna. and also does it have an adhesive side to stick it to something to keep it from moving. ThanX

I just bought a very well taken care of 2011 last Saturday. I watched your vid on RU-vid the following Wednesday, I just bought this head unit today, Friday... Can't wait to get it installed... Got it for $322 free shipping from Cali...on ebay... Diggin' it!!! If you see this post, could you possibly give a small update on how it's been since your install? Any issues? Thank you for the tutorial. With your guidance, I should have this installed within an hour...
Installed ours last night and the search buttons on the steering wheel are backwards, volume works fine. Does yours turn off the display when putting the car into reverse? I haven't found a way to disable this.
I got a similar one to this for my dodge neon but it was longer than wider and has android jellybean on it. Only problem was that my antenna cable was proprietary and i can't use the radio but everything else is fine.
I just purchased this stereo because of your video. I agree that the sound is great, but blue tooth phone calls are not. Also, I am in central time zone and no way of changing that. One last this is that my GPS is not working. Glad it all went well for you, but I am out over $300. Pretty disappointed.
There's got to be a way to set up your time zone... there has to be so GPS can sync, unless it's done automatically via the GPS signal... If your GPS is not working, maybe pull the head unit back out and make sure the antenna connection didn't fall out of the unit, or check to see if you pinched the GPS Ant cable... If the ant coax cable got pinched, the GPS signal could be grounding out to the coax shield. If that's the case, you will need a new ant unless you are skilled enough to make a splice repair of a coax... I can't answer about the Bluetooth phone calls...
Currently, there are no aftermarket head units that work with Uconnect system. If you have a Uconnect system you will lose that feature with this stereo.
Hello, great video. I clicked on the link you displayed and it doesn't find the page on Ebay. Do you know the name of the store or ebayer you bought it from? Thanks again
My 2012 JGC radio is acting up. It scans unexpectedly. Freezes up, looses its preset stations. I have a bumper to bumper warranty on the entire vehicle. Should I pay to get a aftermarket
Were you able to use the steering wheel controls with that radio? And is there a review video of it? My 2011 is getting the sound cut out issue every day now
+mayiandjay thanks for this vid...you have one fo the most well done reviews for this head unit! bit of an off question though - did the voice command buttons on the steering wheel (the ones on the front of the wheel, not the ones in the back) work as well? I've been considering one of these head units. :)
But who's GPS system do they use? My reason for wanting to get rid of my 2011 stock GPS is cause it sucks!!!!! I don't want to do a dvd based one anymore... any please help ready to buy!! I am in southern NH
Hello everyone: this is a great stereo, got everything to work, except the GPS. The unit came with a little chip that I inserted where it says on the radio "Map SD", however I do not know how to update the firmware under the MHL, any advice?
Question I just bought a 2011 jeep grand Cherokee laredo I was wondering if you have expierenced any problem mechanically with the jeep I should keep an eye out for?
I bought mine brand new in 2011 and we had to replace the tranny cooler/ac condenser, is defective and it will leak, the duratec engine is also very prone to have valve train problems for lack of lubrication, i been using top notch oil and had no issues, the car already has 120k miles, the rest is been wear and tear and as long as you keep with the maintenance is a great car. By the way, the plugs don't last for 100k miles, I had to replace mine at 75k miles, change the tranny fluid every 40k miles and dif oil also
I forgot about the evap system, Chrysler replaced a valve design for a new one on the evap system, if you have issues with a leak on the evap system is probably that valve vehind the rear driver side, if you are a handy guy it will cost you 30 bucks, if you take it to the dealership it will be around 400 bucks
Don't bother... Besides, they don't make them anymore and are kinda hard to come by and the ones you do happen to find are pricey... Mine quite after 3 years, audio out quite working... Read my comment the I just updated...
