Protip for anyone that is doing the full 3" of spacer lift in the rear: take the extra time to pull the CV shafts. Broke one of mine when trying to push the control arm down far enough to reinstall the spring+spacer. The joint doesnt have very much range and will pull apart very easily if you get too steep of an angle on it.

I will be installing a Protune Suspension 2.5 front and 1.5 rear it came with no instructions but looks similar to yours. So this video helps as far as instructions go. I think on your rear spacer is threaded for a bolt because you could take one of the spacers and put it on the bottom of the control arm and bolt it in place. Because mine is not adjustable and it still has a plates and bolts to go on the bottom and hold the spacer in place.

Yes I was told by Daniel at 6 monkeys that if I were to use all the spacers provided in the kit then I would want to use the bolt. But since I was just adding a couple then I didn’t need it.

Nice. I just got out of a 2021 cherokee trailhawk with a 2 inch lift. Mapped a lot for onx offroad. I just traded the cherokee for a 2021 jeep grand cherokee trailhawk. I plan on upgrading tires to a 265 65 r18. Big enough for what I do. The air lift will help a lot. I did get a 100000 mile warranty. A hidden winch mount and the winch I already have will be after tires. My roof rack will transferr from the cherokee. I like the extra room for gear and extra towing ability the grand has. We tow a rockwood 1910esp popup . The cherokee worked fine but I always had to watch tongue weight. The grand I wont ever reach its limit. Been watching a while . Keep on getting Outdoors for adventures. 👍

Very nice ride! You gonna go with a tire bigger than a 33? I’m running 33x12.50 KM3’s on my WK2 with the RRO 2.5 inch lift, had to trim the finder but very pleased with the outcome.

Thanks man. Already if feels a bit stiffer. I’m also curious to see the flex difference with the Bwoody. I suspect it will have even less flex but we will see. I’m planning to do a separate video dedicated to the links.

The b woody are stiff. And I was afraid to disconnect my links for off road. Fearing that any excess articulation risked breaking a CV. As I broke one on the install. All in all…. rock-mode setting has compensated when forced into 2&3 wheeling. Certainly a bumpy bucking bronco compared to riding in a wrangler off road. But I’m happier the 98% when im on road.

Hey Jon, question about your strut setup. I’ve noticed a lot of people are going the Bilstein route on their WK2’s, what made you decided to go with the Dobinsons instead?

Originally on my search for a lift kit I didn’t know a lot about suspension work and so I wanted to find a complete set that was specifically designed for my Jeep. I didn’t want to search around finding different components to piece together my lift kit. And Dobinson has a one stop shop. Pick your kit/ pick your springs and the ship them. And after that I saw they were highly rated and are more true to lift specs than a lot of other brands claim.

@@GrandExploration Gotcha, what about the ride quality compared to stock on asphalt roads say….going into turns? Also very curious when off road, how well do the dobinsons swallow up the water rippled bumps and/or gravel washboard trail roads comparatively to stock. Do they feel like a much softer ride or are they quite firm and the car stays very flat on turns. Appreciate you taking the time to answer these random questions haha I’m sure you have more important things you could be doing:)

Excuse me..we have lifted up our 2014 grand cherokee laredo... original sway bar links are from center holes around 5 inch...but it seems that we are needing around 8 inch.. We got a 2.5 n3 rough country struts kit.. Are those sway bar links proper to our truck? Can you tell the distance of yours from the center of hole to hole.. Thanks for advance

So the Bwoody extended links are only 1.5” over stock. I’m not sure why you would need an 8” link with only a 2.5” lift. Bwoody explains that if you do not have a verified 3” lift then do not use these. But…… just my opinion, I don’t know why they would sell a product with a 3” lift stipulation when technically your not suppose to lift these vehicles over 2.5”. You might want to see if you can get ahold of Bwoody and ask them for sure.

Help please! I have a 2020 GC and got a 2.5 lift and 33x12.5x22r. Now the place is saying my alignment is maxed out and I need an alignment kit. Did you run into alignment issues with any of your lifts?

No I never had any alignment issues. I run RRO Upper control arms that help with achieving spec alignment. You are running wider tires than me and bigger wheels. That sounds like a lot going on under there. I’m not an expert with this but I know Bwoody makes a whole alignment kit for your jeep.

Hey, Great looking unit. I’ve got a question. I have a 15’ wk2 diesel. I installed the 2.5 RC struts and springs. I guess the kit is only designed for V6 units, despite everyone fitting the same. Being that it’s a diesel, I supposedly do not have enough weight on the front to compress the springs properly leaving the front hub-fender at 560mm (22 inch) & the back at 520mm (20.75 inch). Now, I am left needing a rear spacer kit to correct the squatting. My question is, with each shim how much lift does it create? You mentioned you used two coil spacers, on the 6-monkey’s kit. I’m just trying to get an idea before trial and error in the garage. Thanks.

Hey man so… Daniel at 6 monkeys informed me that when lifting the rear is different than lifting the front. With the rear if you have a 1/2” spacer then you are getting 1/2” of lift where as if you are lifting the front you would essentially double the spacer size and that would be your lift. So. Long explanation short if you put a half inch spacer in the rear you should be getting half inch of lift. But your front measurement of 22” is a little concerning. That measurement is really pushing it with the cv angle. I know the limit is 23” but that doesn’t leave you much room for off camber situations. Might want to add a little weight to the front. Maybe a winch or bull bar ?

Hey I've been looking for a lift for my 2018 diesel. I know the one you installed isn't for the diesel but I was surprised to hear it was only a weight difference issue.. I thought the diesel weighed more than the V6. So far the only lift option I've found is OME and it's $1700 for dead level 2.5".. kinda spendy when everyone else can use spacers or lift shocks.

@@everettmurphree1445 so the dobinsons 2.5” lift that I’m running is the same one that Daniel with 6monkeys off-road is running and he has the diesel. But the dobinsons is more expensive than the OME. But if your not looking to spend on the full suspension you can do what I did and that is use the 6monkeys spacer kit. Since I already have a 2.5” lift I didn’t need all of his kit but you could use the whole kit and get the same lift especially if your stock suspension is still in good shape

It' wierd but as i said the sway bar links that are right now in used from hole to hole are five inches aprox centers..and we are in the need to force the stabilizer bar like two inches to catch up with the hole..I'll see that.. Thank you

If you watch my video “Into the storm” we have a 2012 QT1 with us. He didn’t have any problems keeping up, but you could definitely tell the difference. You just have to understand its limitations and adjust accordingly. You may have to rely on momentum a bit more than a QT1 or a QD2. You can still do a lot it just won’t always be as easy. Also depends on what you need it for you know? My opinion is QT1 is not as capable. It’s a known fact just like QT2 isn’t as capable as QD2. But depending on the driver you can take it a lot further than the haters will say. Facts

You mentioned your dobisons adding a 2.5 inch lift and you added another 3 inch lift using 6 monkeys lift kit so your rides now 5.5 inches lifted in total?

No. The dobinson is a 2.5” lift. The 6monkeys lift is called the 3” lift because it comes with increments of half inch spacer that total 3” so if you have a stock suspension you can purchase this spacer kit and essentially use all of the spacers provided to achieve 3”. I myself already had a 2.5” lift so I did not need all of the spacers provided I only used what was necessary to achieve 3” total along with my dobinson lift.

@@alexanderb4795 you could do the 6 monkeys 3” spacer lift. If you’re only going 2.5” level then no you don’t need anything else. But it’s how you’re using it. If you’re beating it up on trails then you might want stronger components. With a 3” lift I would recommend ext swaybar links by bwoody at the minimum

Hi John, I run two 6 Monkeys 5/8" (=1.2") shims on each side on top my RC loaded struts (and JBA UCA's) and an RT Offroad spacer in the back w/RC longer shocks. I'm not a big RC fan but the shocks and struts are made by Monroe. I measure 22"f and 23"r. and still aligns to factory specs. Great looking Jeep, check out my Jeeps!

Stock ride height hub to fender front is 19-1/8 Rear stock hub to fender is 20-3/4 With 3” lift we are right around 22” for both almost. It’s never exact.

Max height you can really go on WK2s is 3". Some folks have gone up to 4-6" running spacers on top of full suspension kits but the CV shafts break really easy at that much angle. A pavement princess might be able to get away with it for a while but I suspect going off road the second you drop a wheel into a deep rut you'll pull the CV joint apart.

My guess is that most lifts don’t come with a heavier spring option to accommodate the 5.7 hemi springs. You can always just buy heavier springs. Dobinson lifts allow you to choose soft/medium/heavy.

@@buddyywilsonn don’t we all. You def get what you pay for with suspension. So the 6monkeys lift is just a spacer lift for front and rear so it’s pretty simple. It will just make your ride a little stiffer that’s all. I’m using some of the 6 monkeys spacers now along with my dobinsons

My mechanic says with a 3" lift in my 2008 jeep Grand Cherokee i should replace the upper control arms with something designed for a lift. I cannot find anything that fits my vehicle though. Does anyone have any advice or guidance? Never lifted a vehicle. Thanks!

It doesn’t. In the video i specified that I already have the Dobinson lift on my vehicle. The shim set is how I achieved 3” of lift in conjunction with my already installed lift.

I try to explain as much as I can and I’m thinking of as many specifics as I can sometimes it slips my mind to do it earlier in the video. I’ve seen where they put a spacer on the new WL with air suspension. Also, Dobinson makes a version of their 2.5” lift that is an air suspension conversion to coil over!

You should just buy me a trailhawk!!! Haha jk. But the trailhawk is air suspension. I personally prefer coil for what I do. And I believe the trailhawk only goes up about 2.5 inches.

And then drop back down as soon as you 20mph lol. Most guys that do serious offroading on air suspension eventually end up taking it all out for coils.
