I know this video was made 5 years ago, but I own a 2010 JKU and mine was sluggish and slow as well. That is mainly due to the 3.8L V6 that’s in it. The 3.6L V6 is a lot better in my opinion. But I recently purchased the Pedal Commander which plugs up directly to your Gas Pedal and allows you to Tune your Pedal or better Throttle Response. I highly recommend it!
I have a 2010 jeep wrangler Sahara and I have noticed some of the sluggish feel that you described, usually when I am driving around town I just turn the overdrive off because I get annoyed when it drops below 1500 rpm and I have very little power. Of course this is the first vehicle I have ever owned with an automatic transmission so I am not used to it, I always owned a manual transmission truck before this jeep.
Lita and Magnus Riggs well I got rid of my Jeep it’s not an auto trans things it’s just a Jeep thing ... I purchased a 2002 4 cylinder Tacoma and it’s feels much more powerful
I’ve got an 07 rubicon and it cruises fine on all roads with 35 tires and an auto. I can cruise on the highway no problem and keep up with my buddies 3.6. The 3.8 is a fantastic motor on the trails and it’s fine for me as a daily too. I’ve done a 9.2 0-60 with my tires and stock rubicon no upgrades to the gears or motor. If you think it’s slow get a grand Cherokee with a hemi or swap a v8 if you need the extra power.
I just fixed a 05 jeep wrangler, dealership was saying the cats are stopped up, but no cat trouble codes, so i cut the down pipe with muffler off and the jeep has power i never knew a wrangler could have, so the resonator was the problem, not the cats
I had a 2010 jeep wrangler jk and it did everything you described. I had to get in the slow lane because the motor was so weak. Traded it for a 2013 much more power best move I've made yet
Same thing happened to my buddy after he went to 33s on his unlimited without re-gearing. He did make it a little better with a programer but the rolling weight of a bigger tire is hard to overcome. You really need to re-gear it for anything bigger than stock it's not built for top end speed the low end torque is where it wants you to stay. With the stock P255-75-R17 on my 08 it does what yours is doing only when I get over 90mph (80mph if the top and doors are off) so its not an hi-way machine but I knew that going in and even a little size difference will make a change you will notice plus. You're pushing a heavier vehicle than my 2 door. I will soon be going up a slight amount and hope it won't be to bad as I'm going slightly over stock size.
Yes just bought a 2018 4door for the backseat and cargo room after front 95 2 door I already miss it (glad I didn’t sell) it! This 4 door makes me sleepy, but I may check out this pedal commander hopefully it will help I’m so unexcited to drive it!
Try driving it without the Overdrive on. Press the round button is near the transmission shifter after startup. I don't use the cruise control, but I have driven it with the O/D off for years now and it's peppy around town and the freeways.
Yes, I have 2012 Sarah 3.6L knowing is very slow, so last week I took took it to tow another vehicle, I regret it, it took me about a 1 to 1 1/2 to go up 65 to 75
I just got my 2015 some months ago and u are so current. Getting on the freeway is awful or trying to get out of someone's way. I hate it. My son drove it yesterday and was like, "what the hell is wrong with your car mom" Is yours a 2015 as well? I'm glad I watched this cause I thought something has been wrong with it. I don't know how to use the gear shifter but would that help?
Russell Brown yep ... I bought. A junky little Toyota truck before I sold the Jeep and love it way more. Next expensive vehicle will be a new Powerstroke
If you want something fast buy a sports car......these are not made for great gas mileage either. If that’s what you are looking for....wrong vehicle. These are made to be fun off highway, backroads....slow down and enjoy it.
is yours a 3.8? I have a 2010 Sahara 3.8 and comparing to my old vehicle (ford escape) yes it is slower & 'sluggish' but my escape couldn't hold up in snow or mud and this rips through, I guess that's a perk and being heavy is just a con.
+BrandonAction Jackson 3.8 is a boat anchor. Ive got a 15 wrangler on 35s stick shift with 321 gears and its fine. I only shift to 6th to put on cruise when im at speed and down shift to pass but other wise power a plenty.
I have a 2016 JK Rubicon, slow and sluggish unless headed down a hill. "Dragonfly" Drag on up hills, fly down them. Now, I have replaced my CPV valve thinking I had an mixture issue, maybe a manifold pressure was off. No sensor warning other than my CPV valve and IAT sensor have both been replaced. Still have the issue. I also, start to hear an irregular mechanical whine when in 2nd and 3rd gear at 2k-3k rpms. Is my fuel pump going out? Fuel Filter clogged, transmission need service? I am confused. I ended up taking to the dealership, same thing the mechanic told me to do, I had already done, replace the CPV valve. Any advice?
Need to regear. 33s you need 4.88s. I had 3.73s and with 33s it was okay but anything more than a flat surface it was a turd. With 4:88s I feel like I have a small V8. The four speed Auto has a very tall overdrive and it shifts very early because it's slips if you don't lock it in third.
Hey who cares if your jeeps slow you got 33s use that damn thing for trails and mudding, I mean that is what jeeps are known for, I got a grand Cherokee 4.7 lol things snappy
No it was a lack of all power. No low end etc. it’s basically a complaint video or the 3.8 the biggest mistake they ever made was getting rid of the inline 4.0 but it’s all good I sold this Jeep and bought a 2002 Tacoma instead way older with a 4 cylinder engine and it feels like twice the power
My 09 Wrangler . Replaced. Shift cable -Starter- brake lines- calipers- Catalytic converter- TRANSMISSION and more. It leaks, its slow and sluggish. Looks great but its the worst vehicle Ive ever bought. wanted one since I was a kid. Can't wait to be able to get rid of it.
My 08 Rubicon is slower than molasses on winter day and my throttle wont stay at steady rpm when parked and holding pedal steady, I've put it on a scantool and cant find anything wrong. 513 gears and 37's is what I'm running so it's not a tire size gear ratio issue. Hope someone can comment some advice before I just ls swap it.
Dude mine does the same thing, or when you are pressing steady throttle it will surge but you can actually feel the power come on and off randomly while driving it's substantially different. One minute I barely have to press the throttle and randomly a second later I have to hold it like halfway down to achieve the same speed, then same thing you can feel the power come back randomly.
