US diesel fuel ingredients have changed due to emissions regulations. Not "oily" like the real fuel. Now it destroys engine internals. I add two stroke engine oil every other fuel fill. My WK2 is still waiting for the HPFP recall service, but I haven't had any issues from it yet...
Had mine replaced by Jeep Central Coast on the 19th....They could not tell me what had changed within the pump, but the new pump is a 4050... They have upgraded the fuel filter section called it Z46 Improvement kit on the parts list with my research I believe an extra fine mesh adapter to capture any fine metal.. I also believe it is a poor fuel quality issue in the US ... NEVER LET THESE PUMPS RUN DRY.30000PSI !!! I will add flash lube every fill just like I did with my old 1HDT 80..just to be sure. You guys did a 3 hose package on my Overlander a few months back.Thanks
I was getting a quote for some front end damage on my WK2 GC and the panel beater advised that there was an outstanding recall on the vehicle. I already knew about the fuel pump issue but called Jeep anyway. They told me that there were no parts available for my year model and would advise sometime in the future if they became available. Still haven't heard from them.
