Install and overview on my LOD offroad expedition series rear bumper and tire carrier with Jerry can mounts and storage basket for my 2001 jeep wrangler TJ. Hope you guys enjoy! lodoffroad.com/products/jeep/... #LOD #JeepTJ #TireCarrier
Kyle, love your TJ man. I've been eyeballing this bumper for awhile now, mainly because the latching mechanism looks like it won't ever rattle and also because I like the flush mount round backup (tailgater) light option. I just ripped my Smittybilt tire carrier off my bumper because I was sick of the noise it makes. Thanks for the vids, this is my favorite TJ on YT. Don't listen to the people hassling you about how clean it is, they're only mad because they're envious. I wish I could keep my Jeep half as clean as yours! Also, I don't know where you live but you gotta move down south, out of the snow/salt belt. Best thing I ever did!
This is the style bumper I'm after, my current one I can lock the Jerry cans behind the spare tire, so you have to swing out the spare to get to the cans, which is nice at keeping it secure and from walking away, but I'm limited to using older cans with a lip on the bottom. But cool video definitely gave me some ideas
That setup looks great. You may want to reconsider adding the frame tie-ins. I add a smaller tire carrier to my old CJ without the tie-ins and several months later the carrier pulled/ripped through the top bolts of my cross member while driving down the interstate. My tire was only a 31" and I didn't have any jerry cans.
Hell Yeah! This is the video I've been waiting for. I bought the Red Rock 4x4 rear bumper and tire carrier. The thing is absolute garbage. It rattles and shakes all the time and doesn't even have d-ring mounts. Big mistake. Be sure to let us know how this one holds up and what you think of it. (I may have to upgrade)
Looks good. I was looking at LOD and JCR. It doesn't look like this one locks open. I want it to pin open because I have a feeling my kids will let it swing out and hit the body it taillight.
Awesome video! Any idea the max weight this can hold? I was going to do a tailgate hinge reinforcement, but I do not know if that'll be strong enough. For reference, I have a 90 lb spare and would also like to add a spare tire mounted bike rack.
SWEET what make is it??? looks GREAT good choice on the tire carrier with all the weight its a good way to go first metalcloak fenders then rear bumper/tire carrier
Nice Jeep. Would like a LITTLE bit beefier bumper though...everything else is great. Oh, I would’ve preferred the ZERT fitting to be pointed toward the Jeep at an angle for protection
I bought it off of LOD's website lodoffroad.com/products/jeep/1996-2006-jeep-tj/rear-bumper-with-tire-carrier/1996-2006-jeep-tj-lj-xpedition-series-bumper-tire-carrier-456.html
What’s up! I am looking into getting a quality bumper and carrier like this, it seems like this one (via the link) isnt available anymore. Which others do y’all recommend, I am interested in installing it myself if possible.
The holes that you had to drill was it hard to tighten them once you get the bolt and screw in. Looking to put this same bumper on here soon just want to know the best way for them.
You should put the poison spider hood louvre on ur Jeep its nite and day with the engine temp and would look great on your Jeep it pretty much all u need now
I too was comparing this bumper and tire carrier against the Metalcloak bumper. I am a Metalcloak guy but I think their rear bumper if too big for the TJ. What is you opinion and why did you decide on LOD?
I love my metalcloak fenders but the rear tire carier from them was way to expenaive and I liked how the LOD looked as well. The jerry can mounts and basket had that safari jeep look I wanted and was a very simple smaller design.
@@KyleSVTI finally got my LOD bumper put on. Here is my install video. I'm still a beginner at making videos so I take pointers and ideas where I can. Keep up the good work on your videos! ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3qY7MzOzmdI.html
KyleSVT I don’t know much about a Jeep but there’s always these air things you put in your springs in the rear that’ll hold it up for ya. I’m just a guy who drives a Yota what do I know.
Beautiful TJ! Any idea if the jerry can mounts will fit a Scepter can? The dimensions are nearly identical, but maybe .3" larger all around (height/width/lenght). Any idea?
I wouldn't recommend towing anything with that hitch. I believe that's just an accessory attachment for like a bike carrier or cargo basket. If the manufacturer of the bumper doesn't have it rated for towing then please don't use it for that purpose.
