Jeep TJ Won't start Part 1 

Why didn't you just change the $17.00 ignition switch. Remove the column covers, unscrew the turn signal / wiper switches with a #20 torqx bit. There is 1 #10 security rorqx bit that holds the switch to the colum. After the #10 is removed just pull on the switch. Replace with a BWD brand part # CS812.... problem solved with out hacking up your harness.

I’m having the same problem but when I remove my starter relay and plug it back in it starts up

Rubbish !!! - i had this problem exactly --- its the "actuator pin" which is a problem on a TJ, - when you turn the key the "actuator pin" turns the starter switch it breaks after a few years 23 in my case - it runs between the key cylinder and the starter switch - only costs $30 and is easy to change over - hope this helps

My issue is my jeep will charge fine then stop but will start again back and forth. I've tried everything except whatever the issue is

have a 2004 jeep liberty sport won't en start but both tail light and turning were blinking open tail gate and doors close them and it started

Thank you!!! This series of videos just saved my ass in a big way. I was driving down a bumpy secondary highway and my keys FELL OUT of the ignition while I was driving. I drove another hour to the beer store, bought beer and then I experienced the same issue. Had to tow the jeep and then used this exact fix to get the beast running again! I had the issue many have. Turn the key to start the vehicle and nothing not even a clicking at the starter. Battery, starter good. It is the steering column issue that costs some 400 dollars to repair. Here is the repair for 20 bucks.

I have same problem, gonna try your fix . But I'm gonna check grounds first. My speedometer doesn't work either any suggestions?

So just replace the switch parts. Done? TJ is known for having bad clock springs too, no no horn and airbag. Love my TJ though.

This video helped me a bunch. I have an 02 TJ with the same problem. On mine the ignition wire is yellow. I took a 3 inch piece of solid wire and stripped the ends. I pushed one end into the red wire harness slot, then pushed the other end into the yellow wire slot in the harness. The starter started turning immediately. FYI : make sure your Jeep is in neutral with the brake on.

I had the same problem. But discovered it was the key sentry system. Used a different key and the car started again.

can anyone help me out my jeep will crank but won't start I will crank ig at first it will start up but then dies and won't start up yet it still cranks after about 25-4057 minutes of constantly cranking it it finally starts up and runs fine till the next time I go to start it up please help thanks!
