@@matthewjohnson5334 you don’t have to. But if you want the manual shift option (tap shift), then you can send the stock valve body to Jeep speed shop and they will reprogram it
I hope everyone appreciates the effort he puts into these descriptions of what you need to do depending on models, etc. Many RU-vidrs just tell you what they did with their application. Nothing wrong with that at all. Just acknowledging the extra effort here.
Okay Ben, it’s videos like this that get me in trouble. You convinced me I could do a 1 ton swap in my garage by myself, so I did. And here you are convincing me I can Hemi swap in my garage by myself... so I have to.
I’ve been building cars for a long time. Bought a 2015 charger motor with the recommended 2010 Jeep steering pump. The intake tube runs right into the steering pump. I’ve installed twin turbos on a 2013 coyote that no shop wanted ti tackle. What steering pump is correct?????
Am I the only one that noticed that you had past videos of yourself playing on you TV as you were swapping out that yoke? 🤣🤣 All jokes aside, thanks for all the hard work you put in to these Ben & Cassie!
I remember watching this before, during, and after my Hemi swap! I put a 2022 5.7L Hemi and 8 speed in my 2008 Jeep Rubicon and loved the whole process. I also did in a shed, on the floor, with all hand tools. If I can do it, you can too! All it takes time, money, and determination! 😁👍
I hope you didn't lose power for very long. I'm in Houston and we went almost 72 hours, no lights, no heat. Luckily we had water and none of our pipes burst! I got so desperate I was burning scrap wood in my fireplace!
You definitely make it look pretty easy putting a hemi in a JK. I feel like it’s way harder than you make it look, but to be fair you make everything look easy haha
your vids have inspired me to spend the kids inheritance, lol. I got a rust free 93 YJ to modify at Christmas. Then the wife saw our son's Gladiator Rubicon when we went to Texas for a visit. Needless to say back home to dealership we go. Now the owner of a 21 Mojave, just looking for some desert in the hills of Tenn. Best wishes for you and family.
Just ordered everything from Todd except my exhaust. Thanks for the videos...and inspiration to tackle this swap Ben. Will be prepping my motor and trans over the next several weeks. Plan to tackle swap once weather breaks.
I feel like you were speaking directly to me in the beginning of the video 😂😂 thanks for writing that “boring” but not so boring info on your white board and being extremely specific your awesome! 😎
Love you and Cassie's channels! Please consider doing some live shows where we can ask questions and give tips and advice. commenting on 2 year old videos will not be seen and there could be more info to be gleaned! Keep those OG AK plates alive! I think I know why you keep residence up here wink wink lol
We have been planing doing live videos! Hopefully we will start it up soon. As for comments on old videos, I have a RU-vid studio app which lets me look more in depth to my channel and I can view all comments as they are posted, no matter how old the video.
Another great video! Loving this build and can’t wait to see it driving!! Keep up the amazing work!! 👍 I live up in New Hampshire and I can’t wait for spring so I can start tackling my vehicle projects!!!
Like the videos but the temps in Texas were 0degrees in much of the state. The loss of power and cold were kind of a big deal given our power grid. Nevertheless, keep up the work and the swap looks good.
@@TheWyldeTide 😂😂 definitely an asset for sure not to mention a legend in the jeep world on youtube. I remember doing this exact thing with some of my Marines when i was in great to see it still occurring 🤘🏻
Sure makes it nice to have that bumper, grill, radiator, condenser out of the way. BTW, 23 people died during the freeze last week while out of power. Several were elderly seniors without power in single digit temps for days.
I'm a little late to the party but just wanted to say thank you for all the good information you put in the videos. Always been a DIYer so they give me some new ideas. Question for you, I have been debating how to go about this swap and I have a friend that has a dealers license that can get me into auctions for salvaged vehicles. If you had to do this again do you think buying a rolled ram with a Hemi and 8 speed would be more cost beneficial in the long run? and possibly cut down on the number of parts needed?
Hey Ben my family was in the Texas Revolution and we love new people from different places. Now that I've said that you have to aware that speaking harshly about Texas doesn't go over very well when you live in Texas. Up where we live it was 2 degrees at night for a couple days. That wasn't a big issue for us because our old raggedy house was built 70 or more years ago. We have fireplaces, propane and electric heat. My friend from the Air Force wasn't so lucky they live in a new high efficiency all electric house in a neighborhood with 100 just like it. Once their power went out the load was too large to turn it back on so they had no power for 6 days. Texas once had big power plants everywhere, there was a 660 megawatt station 2 miles from here but the government wanted it gone because it was older and ran off of natural gas. Texas has been spending money on wind turbines and up where I live not a day goes by where you don't see them hauling a center section or blades down the road. Due to this and the population boom there just wasn't enough electricity to go around. I understand that it was a hassle but it was something we all deal with. We were lucky here because the power company is in the process of upgrading our overhead lines and our transfer station is brand new so our stuff cycled on and off once an hour for several days. Now that I've said all that your swap is looking good.
Thanks for the great Videos now you got me Pumped doing a swap im doing the 6.4 392 just order my kid from Tod Jeep speed shop,I'm keeping the nag 1 what bell housing and torque converter do i need
Great stuff Ben! Spent a good amount of time thinking about LS vs Hemi swaps for my 2012 Rubicon, while keeping it manual. Is the Getrag238 the best option for the 6.4L Hemi?
It’s pretty much your only option. Lots of manual lovers go that route and from what I’ve seen a lot of them regret the decision and wish they went auto.
How did you route you transmission oil cooler lines? Mine go right over the passenger upper control arm mount and I only have an inch of clearance at ride height.
Ben I was curious how you were going to modify the stock battery tray, looks like you decided to go Barnes 4wd. Is this because it was a pain to modify the OEM, or does the OEM flat out not work, Thanks.
All covered in the next video! The OEM will have to be modified to fit with the hemi. Since we are cutting some of the OEM tray, we need to add something better to make sure our battery is secure. Of course another option is buying a full steel that is bolt in for the hemi swaps
Great video Ben. Thanks for the update. I'm still prepping my motor. Looking forward to getting to where you are with it. Question, I have a manual trans also. I was under impression that you need the JK auto trans mount. Did the manual work fine? Thanks
Ben, I am thinking about doing the conversion on my 07 X. I understand the upgraded trans and drive shafts, but would you suggest upgrading my stock axles as well? Thanks any other tips would be great!
@@JKGearandGadgets thank you. I'm wanting to do a commander but swap to a newer hemi and put the 8 speed in and swap the axles and get rid of the awd. It's a long term goal so now it's just research and note taking lol.
If you plan on doing a hemi swap with the 8 speed. Or if you plan to do a more budget friendly v8 swap check out Cassie’s Ls swap videos on her channel jeep gear and gadgets
