Great idea using the foam board to make the templates. One thing I found when making a new skid for my jeep was that the stock welded nuts in the frame that the skid is bolted to can after time either strip out or break loose from the frame (I had three break out of the frame). I made new ones by using 2" x 2" flat washers and welding 1/2-13 NC nuts to them. After removing the factory welded nuts and a little bit of grinding of the holes left in the frame to fit the new nuts that are welded to the flat washers, I was able to replace them with my fabricated ones which I welded to the frame. The new mounting nuts are much stronger and are also very easy to replace later if needed.

Right on, great idea! I don't like how the factory nuts stick out from the frame either. My whole crossmember is really only supported by those 6 little bosses sticking out. I'm sure I will have to cross that road at some point rebuilding the nuts and maybe making that completely flat down there so my whole crossmember goes up and rests on a flat surface rather than a few bosses. That foam board, I stumbled across, I actually went to the dollar store to buy poster board and that foam board was on the same shelf and was about the same thickness as 1/4" plate, so I grabbed some of it. Works great! Thanks for the ideas bro.

Nice you got the full float axle. I just got the semi float.

I only have 10% of my lift kit done and it already cost me an arm and a leg. If I continue to buy the rest it will cost nearly as much as a brand new car and I dont have that kind of money. I'm now looking into fabricating everything else. So, making your own design specific to your need or requirement is way better and will always trump any purchased kit. Not many can say they fabricated their own kit from scratch. Just like comparing a store bought ready to cook meal vs a home made from scratch meal, everyone will say the home made is better.
