I run these on my JKURX. They are great shocks. Ryan is correct, they are not for everyone and spending the extra money probably isn't worth it for most people (including myself). I wanted to give a warning to those who are considering a purchase of these shocks: if you purchase them in a set (with the two rears), the bar pins are made of ALUMINUM, whereas the stock shocks come with a steel bar pin. Bar pins are used to mount the shock at the rear of the Jeep. My aluminum bar pins BROKE in half while going over a speed bump. "A speed bump... really?" Yes, a speed bump. I would NOT off-road these shocks without swapping the aluminum bar pins with a stainless steel solution. I chose to purchase the JKS Bar Pin eliminator kit. They are EXTREMELY heavy-duty. You can buy cheaper ones than that, but I don't like to go cheap on suspension parts, personally. I'm not at all trying to push this product in particular, but I am providing a link so you guys have a reference to what I am talking about. My honest opinion: The FOX 2.0 Performance IPF (monotube shocks) are MORE than enough and still look pretty sexy. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005TTZIXQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Fox Shocks are awesome for sure! To be honest I've never ridden in any vehicle with them installed, but I hear nothing but great reviews from people who have them. -Jake
These are great shocks, but they are definitely not for everyone. They will look cool so that part is for everyone, but most people don't do anything extreme enough to justify these. Even some pretty hard core wheeling doesn't require something like this. This shock would be great for people that have purpose built rigs, We had a set on our '15 JK with the TeraFlex Sport S/T3 lift and ended up replacing them with Bilseins. We do wheel our rig, mostly in the mud. When it came down to it, we really couldn't tell the difference between the Fox and Bilsein. That's just because we didn't need that much of a performance shock, so long story short, If you are not doing some extreme and really fast wheeling, you don't need these. If you do, you can't beat them. Great shocks if you use them for the right purpose.
I agree Rocky. I think the Fox shocks are very purpose built for a specific application. They're a great shock, but most people don't do the type of driving in order to really use them to their full potential. -Jake
Thanks for your opinion I also wouldn't mind Extreme Terrains input since i watch a lot of their stuff. I am currently looking into this for my '15 Rubicon. I do 75% pavement driving (In the winter there are some nasty pot holes however). The rest is light to medium trails camping and hunting (Some with bad washouts and small to medium boulders). I am stuck between the Teraflex tuned JK Fox 2.0's and the Bilstiens 5160's. I hear the for the price, Bilstien's are great and are not as "stiff" as the Fox's on road. I love the look and quality of Fox shocks but would like to hear some people who have more experience with both.
They ride stiff on the road, but work good off-road. But of you have any issues or need them rebuilt in the future, prepare to wait 1-2 months for service... Even if it's a warranty repair like mine are, had a shock completely blowout and seize up, Fox won't send replacements and take forever to fix stuff.
Installed a set of Bilsteins that I review on my channel. Very happy with them, but sounds like these Fox are high quality as well. Lifetime warranty like my Bilsteins?
Bilsteins are awesome shocks! These Fox shocks take things to a whole other level though. Fox offers a limited one year warranty on all of their suspension parts. Check out their warranty info for some more details! www.ridefox.com/help.php?m=truck&t=warranty -Jake
Had these on my JKU. Felt like i was riding in a 1980's dump truck with 500,000 miles on it. Ridiculously stiff. Couldn't pay me to pit these on another vehicle. Fox does not use zinc primer before they paint these, therefor they rust after one year.
Yep, I Have a set on a 84 Chevy short box with 1ton axles and a 454 big block. The gas tank, radiator, and batteries are mounted in the bed for better weight distribution/transfer. It rides SUPER stiff at slow speeds, it's almost unbearable! They do good at full throttle attack mode. I heard they can be re-valved though...Definitely going to look into it.
ExtremeTerrain.com thanks for your reply .. actually i am in on road more than off road but i want to go off road with better speed .. i want 2 or 2.5 for lift kit
Sounds like for what you're looking to do that the JKS J-Spec 2.5" Lift Kit is exactly what you need! It comes with Fox Shocks and I've heard nothing but great reviews about the kit! Check it out and let me know what you think! -Jake www.extremeterrain.com/jks-jspec-25-lift-jk-103K.html
