@@gorillahd9247 I would have gone with d44 with locking hubs and built that instead of d30hp. At the time I built it for 35s not planning on ever running 37s. I really need to make update video. I am looking forward to seeing the changes you make. As for mine I have a pair of brand new G2 D44's sitting in my garage. 30 spline chromoly shafts, 4.88's and truetracs front and rear. Loved the video I, no complaints but please don’t take this the wrong way man but your running a stock d30 on 37s, not trussed or nothing.
@fotomotoxxiii
@fotomotoxxiii 6 лет назад
Austin Greene absolutely aware of that, been planning on going full width Dana 60 high pinion from an older Ford truck and selling the d30 if it lasts. Surprisingly I haven't broken anything on it, it does have chromoly shafts and upgraded ujoints. Ticking time bomb and always on the back of my mind when I'm wheeling. This jeep was setup for 35s, then I got smoking deal on these maxxis 37s. That's why I'm 4.56 and not 4.88 like I should be.
@fotomotoxxiii
@fotomotoxxiii 6 лет назад
Also my goal is to go with 40s or 42s for trails out here. Didn't want to put any more money into d30. Once d60 goes under I'll swap to 8 lug wheels and sell these 37s
@ninja63639
@ninja63639 6 лет назад
With the front wheel base stretch did you run into any steering linkage issues or did everything lined up exactly the same and for the rear wheel base stretch did you have any diff to tank clearance issues? I just picked up an 89 YJ and I'm thinking of doing the same thing
@fotomotoxxiii
@fotomotoxxiii 6 лет назад
Christopher Spencer front was fine, it's such a small stretch it's barely noticeable. The rear 8.8 diff cover does hit the tank skid plate, but only if both sides are at full tuck. Usually that doesn't happen, one at a time when you wheel, so it's never been a problem. It only left some marks. Let me know what you come up with!

How did you learn to do the rear swap! I have a 94 yj. I just had the passenger rear shackle mount go, welded in a new section and it's been on blocks for a month because I keep finding more stuff to fix or bump into something rusty, like brake lines. My first three years saw zero issues. Now, it's like owning a boat. I have to cut a hole in the frame tomorrow to fix a snapped body mount on the driver's side, at the bumper.😒

Would you consider putting two Dana 44’s under there?
@fotomotoxxiii

Well since I have 8.8 in the rear that is stronger than 44 I'd consider front and it would have to be late 70s f250 d44 with high pinion and thick axle tubes. They're really hard to find and cost more than dana 60 so I'm just waiting to do tons at some point

@fotomotoxxiii
@fotomotoxxiii 4 года назад
It depends if you're carburetor or fuel injection. I'm running a mechanical motorcraft carb that doesnt require computer. So I took all of my wiring out and wired it all from scratch. Since no computer you no longer need o2 sensor. Also I'm running hei distributor that eliminates the need for coil and ignition control module. Basically its identical to hot rod style wiring. Where literally one wire runs the jeep lol

Thanks for the reply. Yeah, I don't know how to drive a manual (never had a father to teach me) so I'm leaning toward an auto, that said, a manual may be a good idea to learn on so who knows lol.
@fotomotoxxiii
@fotomotoxxiii 6 лет назад
@@FunWithAJ you gotta try it and although it may seem very fun at first, the more you drive it and depending on your driving style you maybe over it quick. I would see if you can rent a manual car or use friends to learn on. Maybe someone that's planning on doing a clutch job soon anyway. If you got a good teacher it takes like 15 min to an hour to get a hang of it then you can run with it on your own and with practice get good.
@fotomotoxxiii

I am curious about the transfercase drop and motor mount lift. These are early band-aids for a first lift with no other mods. You have a SYE and a 8.8 in the rear that you could have tilted at any angle when you installed it. The t-case drop and MML should not be needed, and smells a little of someone who wasn't really sure what they are doing. My rear setup is similar (8.8, sye & np231), I have a longer driveline thus shorter DS (LS and 4L65e) and have no vibration or binding issues. Just an observation, that its weird seeing those two items in an otherwise great looking setup.
