Did you ever figure out the passenger side bolt situation? I am installing one tonight and have the exact same problem. I will just make a trip to the hardware store for some grade 8 bolts and some flat washers and nuts. I don't understand why they ship the hardware this way. I will try and find out an answer as well.
Damn sry to hear its still an issue. Just grabbed some hardware myself and let it go. Annoying I still have 3 brand new steering box bolts haha. Good luck with the project and glad to hear someone is following along doing the same things.
Thanks for the Video. I'm about to install my Dirt Bound bumper so I'm watching all the videos. Looks like I'm in for a fight with the bolts. Thankfully my. XJ is not a daily drive so delays don't bother me at all. Where did you end up relocating your horns and Vacuum sphere? BTW: Not trolling, but in Video #1 you implied that these bumpers came from China. DirtBound is a small shop in MN. Made in the USA!
Hey Ed Glad you're finding the vids helpful I hope yours goes smoothly! I must have been referring to other companies like smittybilt with that china comment. Not a huge fan of dB but I won't deny them their nationality :)
Sorry didn't realize I didn't answer your questions... I bent my horn brackets back so the horns are horizontal and my c Vacuum ball is floating somewhere between my oil filter and coolant resevoir... nit a great solution but it hasn't been an issue
In pt 1 I broke a bolt to the box and discovered the spacer was broken. Having a cracked spacer is pretty common as they are aluminum from factory and the frame is quite flexible, the steering box being a major stress point. Thats why I recommend just getting a spacer to swap as you'll be in there anyway
