Jeepneys in Philippines : Beginner's Guide / How To Use Them - You know that you're in the Philippines already once you start seeing these colorful and noisy jeepneys on the streets. They're a Filipino invention and you can't see them elsewhere.
It can really be tricky for first-timers and tourists to use them as they're really geared towards locals. Here we share some insider tips and knowledge and how to use Jeeps.

I was in Manila two years ago. I loved them! But I was completely confused about which one to get on and when to get off. Luckily my Filipina girl friend was with me the whole time.

I have social anxiety, so i don't talk to people a lot.. i wanna get in a jeepney so bad but I'm scared to talk to people, my stupid self keeps asking these stupid questions, "how do i know how much it is? do they tell it to me?" "how do i tell them that it's time for me to get off?" (I know that you have to make noises (?) with the coins on the metal thing on top, but where is the metal thing?😭)

Great video! I barely remember how to ride them. I was really good at it when I was young (before going to the US). I want to ride them again, but I'll be needing a guide. The drivers are amazing on how they calculate the bayad and sukli. Can't wait to visit the PH again. Thanks very much for this .

Love the video, my wife is Filipino, we go there sometimes to visit family in Caloocan City n Manila, I love Jeepneys, I’m trying to buy a old Jeep to convert it into a Jeepney and drive it around the U.S., The Philippines is an amazing place with the most friendliest nicest people in the world, I always get a bit depressed whenever I leave there to go home and can’t wait to go back, I subbed, looking forward to see your other videos, keep up the good work✌️🇵🇭

Can ask the driver first before getting on the jeep :) Ask them from the driver front passenger side so you don't have to be shouting before you get in, from the back. They can tell you right away if they'll pass by.

I would love to use these as my transport but not knowing where the stop on or off is a little problematic as a tourist. There are route maps out there at all?

If the driver is at the front, when you get on how to tell driver your destination? Do you yell, or tell other passenger (the onewho takes your money)?

I'm still confused on how to use them. So what is the average fair for the jeepney? And how do I know that the Jeepney I am using is going to the location I am going to? Is there a route map?

There is no route map-that's the scary part-the only thing you can use to know where your going is to know the names of the district you're going to

@@karlopasaoa7409 there is one route but the areas that route will pass by will be indicated in the side of the vehicle. You can tell the Driver "para po" to stop where you want to land (but some drivers will only let you get off the jeep in areas that are safe to unload by) your seating arrangement doesn't matter if and when you want to be the first to get off or the last.

@@karlopasaoa7409 basically no and yes. You need to actually know the place where you want to stop so I suggest using google maps just to know your general location. You can't tell the driver where to go, consider them like a train with no tracks, they follow one route that's it. And when you want to stop somewhere, just say "para", and they will drop you off on a "relatively" safe point immediately.
