Guitar - Jeff Beck Bass - Tal Wilkenfield Drums - Vinnie Colaiuta Keyboards - Jason Rebello Recorded at Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club in Soho, London November 2007
Is there a guitarist in the world that could copy Jeff Beck's playing style? I think it would be nearly impossible, and how many guitarists ever, can you say that about? His songs aren't my favorites, but there will never be another guitar player like Jeff Beck. One of a kind...R.I.P.
My goodness, he could do it all: harmonics everywhere, tapping, double tapping, hammer-ons, whammy, volume swells, quiet, loud, brash, soft. A complete guitarist!
Don't most electric blues guitarists use a pick? How unusual is this? Clapton uses a pick. How does he get by without one? It looks like he just mainly uses his thumb to pluck the notes. Did he develop this technique or is it an alternative technique that many guitarists use? 🤔
Mr Jeff Beck, one of the greatest guitar legend who ever walked the earth. He was born to play a Stratocaster even before such guitar existed. Thank you for all the pleasure your music gave us. RIP
There are millions who can play the guitar very well. Then, there are those rare few who can make it talk. Jeff Beck was one of those rare few who could not only make it talk, he invented his own language. His rare and beautiful brand of music will be missed.
Agreed. He always seemed fully in control of his guitar and every note and sound it produced in a very impressive and satisfying way. I like how you describe it as invented his own language, because that’s indeed how it feels.
I understand a big fat zilch when it comes to the technicalities of this music, but thank Jeff that doesn't spoil my enjoyment one bit . Take the awe in the eyes of that little base-guitarist girl, multiply it by about a thousand, and that's what i feel when I watch and listen to him play. Rest in peace, mate!
Nobody else can play like Jeff Beck, he was truly a genius. Jeff will be sorely missed mostly by family and close friends, but also by millions of fans. R.I.P. Jeff Beck.
I watched this concert so many times, it is easily one of the best things ever recorded. Once when I was in London, I went to ronnie scotts just to get a beer. it was an off night and empty, but I just wanted to be in the same room where this show had taken place. it was fucking extraordinary.
I went to see Jeff (not for the first time) at the Albert hall in July, not only was he a genius, but he was so incredibly generous to fellow musicians. He was full of complimentary gestures to anybody on the stage with him and always gave them time and space. I have watched him for years and will really miss him, RIP Jeff.
I agree. No one played like him before him. And no one can play like him now. Many have tried. The thing is, he never ceased to innovate . His technique kept evolving along with his unparalleled tone sculpting. I’m feeling serious loss.
I've always said if someone thinks they are great on the electric guitar, they need to play Cause We've Ended As Lovers because no matter how much speed and technique you have, it won't hide the feel needed in the song.
Looking at Tal and Vinnie smiling, knowing they're having the time of their lives playing with Jeff. This shows not only his incredible musicianship but also hinting that he must've been a very down-to-earth person play and spend time with.
JEFF GRACIAS FOR ALL THE AMAZING MUSIC, WHEN I WAS YOUNG GROWING UP IN VENEZUELA IF YOU DID NOT KNOW WHO JEFF BECK WAS , YOU WERE NOT COOL, YOU WERE A MAESTRO' OF THE GUITAR R.I.P. JEFF BECK
Nice to see Robert Plant in the audience. RIP Beck. you have been a back bone in my soul since the first time I heard you.Thank you for the decades of what being a musician means. You were a light and a passion in our world that we all will keep close to our hearts.
Had a few beres w/Jeff @ Barney's Beanery in West Hollywood years ago, nicest guy ever! What a guitar God and a sweet human being! All my love Jeff R.I.P. ....
Wired was my first time hearing Beck, I was hooked. I never heard anything like it. I've never heard anybody ever cover a jeff Beck song, ever. Only one Jeff Beck. Well done sir.
You make a great point. I too have never heard anyone cover anything Jeff Beck has done in the last 50 years. Just one of the all time greatest GTR players.
It’s surreal that such talent gets taken to the grave, like a full stop. After years of development. But it’s wonderful that a legacy is left. Thank you.
I don't care what anyone says, Beck & Page are the two greatest classic rock guitarists. Both had completely different styles. Beck had a way of creating sounds that no one else ever done, and Page had a style that was his own. Hands down, those two own rock!
Everyone who is a fan of the British Blues/rock era, Hard rock, Fusion, Metal, or even just modern music history needs to own a copy of Jeff Beck's Truth album (July 1968). It is groundbreaking and timeless. Crank it all the way up.
Dear Jeff. We made a long long way together. Ok. Man. Now you are in the arms of God. God loves your music. Jeff plays guitar and God plays key board. Dear Jeff. The world loves you!!!!!
There is no doubt in my mind that he was in his own dimension the same way Hendrix was... As great as Page, Clapton, Blackmore, Townshend ( to name a few ) are they still are guitar players... Jeff Beck was... something else...
Been a fan all my life, 60yoa I am now. Literally have Jeff on my daily playlist while at work, almost all albums of his or bands he was in on vinyl and listen to them regularly - his music has been and will always be part of my life. So saddened at his passing but equally blessed to have grown up knowing who he was and enjoying his work. Years ago I happened across Tal Wilkenfeld and was thrilled to see her alongside Jeff. Their styles were quite complimentary and they seemed to have formed that magical bond. If not already seen, I strongly recommend the 2018 film "Jeff Beck still on the run".
Sadd loss can't take it in nobody will sound like jeff again one off so much control one of the best thanks jeff for all the years of listening to you rip jeff be remembered by millions
I respect Jeff Beck for saying true to himself all these years and the obvious virtuosity with the guitar. A true artist who did his own thing. I know he will missed by many. He played so much gibberish and weird sounds that no one can imitate.
Has there ever been a more unpredictable guitar player? RIP to the great Jeff Beck, Guitar Genius/Innovator/Devastator. Enjoy your retirement on Mt Rushmore.👩⚕🎸
May you Rest in the arms Of God!!!! May Jesus welcome you with open arms!!!! Thank you so much for your wonderful music Sir. Truly magnificent my man!!!!
Three sets of blown speakers from one note on Two Rivers, There and Back release. Fortunately was able to see him perform and he lives on in our memories. Thanks John getting this tribute out on U tube for the fans.
One more artist now re-entering the soil and the circle of life. What a life. What music he made. It is fantastically beautiful to me that the human experiment has resulted in this art. Thank you Geoffrey, and long may you be remembered.
