it is not really read everywhere. There is a limit on the number of kindle devices you can put the books on.

@310Sole me too. I've been looking on youtube for it since a couple nights ago from seeing it on pbs. I REALLY want to see the rest of the interview. All I caught was the second half of the pbs show, because of work =(, maybe charlie rose youtube will be kind and upload it???

@oneeyedgeek except the kindle touch uses an infrared touch screen which doesn't need the extra plate of glass, which gets around the one and only thing he had against a touch screen kindle

14 months later, Amazon launches Kindles with touch screens and a Kindle tablet. Guess he changed his mind about those. Great interview though.

No doubt, kindles (or other e-readers) are vastly better for reading than a backlit tablet, both because of the e-ink and because they don't contain distractions. But, I'm sure when Bezos realized he could get even more money by making Amazon's own version of iPad, I imagine it was hard to say no.

@bfoaliali Don't feel badly for me, I like my kindle, though I have to agree books are better. It's just that they're so big. Jeff says when you try to change 500 year old technology some people will rebel, like you. It's just like when automobiles came to be, the comparison is powerful. You said it's weak and I'm ignorant, but you have no back up other than "sad" and "I feel bad(sic) for you".

@SpaceWalkTraveller Do you grow your own food, or do you buy it? I actually do kill innocent wood-chucks, they're a nuisance and they damage crops and buildings. All the farmers around here do the same thing. If they didn't, they'd all be too busy repairing their buildings that they wouldn't have time to grow food for you.

@SpaceWalkTraveller HA HA HA. Sarge killed that squirrel, I didn't. I went out in the woods with a gun, but I'm not much of a hunter. So, do you eat meat? I guess it's ok if someone else does your killing for you. That squirrel was delicious, and he lived free, and had a lot better chance than a cow or pig raised in a feedlot.

@bfoaliali Yes, it's sad. But it's not as sad as the fact that you can't ride a horse to work or school like people did 100 years ago. Back then, you could give your son a female horse, and he'd have a horse for the rest of his life. He could start riding and caring for his horse when he's 8, in a few years ger her pregnant, have a new horse for free. Today a kid 8 can't drive to school, or ride a horse. WHAT"s sad is that you have no argument to back anything up, only "weak" and "sad".

I read a 1000 page book on a tablet with a dark theme setting & switch between facebook at times. The experience it's just Wonderful (switching from reading to facebook browsing). I will NOT with 1000% certainty buy that stupid kindle for just reading a book without any other applications on it. That's Absurd! He says kindle device is as a companion, I say it's a cumbersome having 2 devices at a time !

The comparison is totally correct, which is why you're unable to come up with any real argument against it. Your argument boils down to "it's a new idea, it must be bad". Thank god our ancestors felt differently. Otherwise, we'd be still running around the forest looking for dead animals to eat.
