I've been riding one of these for a couple of years now. The ride is magical, the handling is sublime, and the capability is massive in It's scope. From single-track to world touring. It's an absolutely ripping bike. Nice work, Jeff💥

I bought a Jones Plus last February on blind faith and absolutely everything Jeff says here is true. This bike is amazing on the trail and on the road: quick, comfortable and confidence-inspiring.

I bought an SWB complete last fall. It’s the only bike I’ve paid retail for in 29 years and I 100% don’t regret it at all! It’s such a fun machine! And it climbs like CRAZY! Good work, Jeff! My hat’s off to you, good doctor! 🤘🏻✊🏻✌🏻

Well done, great to hear a builder's history, it's my favourite video of 2016. It follows from my 2015 favourite The Pro's Closet TPC Museum Series with a selection of MTB history including similar style interviews with builders Joe Breeze and Steve Potts.

Two Years ago I got the H-Bar for my Fargo. Was amazed. My hand/finger numbness went almost to zero, even after a 1500kms 12 day ride. Was totally convinced. Almost finished my Diamond Plus LWB with Truss Fork. Supplyer sent me a non Boost Crankset so the chain rubs the rear tyre, otherwise today would be New Bike Test Drive Day! Grea Work Jeff. Thanks!

Interesting and informative video, I'm just getting into this "plus" size bike craze and I really like the benefits it gives in a hardtail mountain bike. Early days for me but this really was food for thought.

I can totally agree with this ethos. Reminds me a lot of Geoff Apps designs and philosophy to bike building. I’m 6ft3 and would love a long frame with an upright position. I run bmx bars on 80’s mountain bikes to achieve this position.

Yep! Bought a stock LWB for trail riding in WNY and the Adirondacks. It’s faster than my previous hardtails a and Giant Trance X. Strava says I’m faster and my back says I’m more comfortable. I quickly upgraded to the Titanium LWB with a truss fork. It’s amazing. Fast as hell and comfortable. I like riding to the trailhead…what a concept!

This bike would make a lot of sense for people who ride in areas where we get snow covered roads most of the Winter months. I haven't really found a bike yet that is a pleasure to ride with a few inches of snow on the ground. I would think this bike can do that and bring some fun into the ride.

Interesting , I have a 90s Schwinn Paramount PDG 40, it's Tange tubes and I think made in Japan. It's billed as a mountain bike, but it's more a hybrid I think . It has a long wheel base and I've found it very stable. I may try the Jones bar and use as a commuter /touring bike as it has rack mounts .. Turned out to be one of my favorite bike. I bought it used from a guy that had worked at the local Schwinn shop for peanuts.

is there a production bike which is similar to this? I am wanting to get into mountain biking and am wondering now whether to get something like a Voodoo Bizango with front suspension and 29" wheels or get something like this? is it better to get a bike without front suspension?
@brendonpotts6122
@brendonpotts6122 7 лет назад
For the record, while we build each bike for the individual needs of the customer, the frames are production frames. This helps us offer an individualized spec and fit without the long wait or extra cost of a full-custom bicycle. We think it's the best of both worlds! In terms of how a Jones relates to most other bikes out there, there are a few points to consider: Our bikes put the rider in a centered position that makes suspension unnecessary in most cases, so with a Jones, you get the benefits of a rigid bicycle (greater climbing efficiency, durability, and a more responsive ride, among others), but with many other rigid bikes this isn't the case because of a more traditional geometry that puts you over the front of the bike more. Put another way: on a Jones, you won't have as much weight on your hands as you would with most bikes, and this allows you to float over bumps by gently holding onto the handlebars in a comfortable, upright position, while letting the wheels move up and down around the bottom bracket, where your weight is. When you combine this with the wide range of positions that the H-Bars give, you have a very versatile bike! I hope this helps with some of your questions, but feel free to get in touch with us if you have any others! -Brendon at Jones Bikes

I found Jones Bikes by researching handlebars. I love hearing about the benefits of the wide/low pressure tires. But are there downsides? I'm not racer but I notice on my Trek, when my tires are on the low side, I get frustrated that I'm riding slow. Is there a reason why Jones Bike low pressure tires don't have the same characteristics? Or is more like, "who cares about speed when the handling and comfort is better?" Also, going down those stairs, I love the way the tires soak up the bumps. But doesn't there come a point at times where you bottom out the rim and bend the rim? Thanks in advance for any input and sorry for the dumb questions, I don't know that much about bikes, but I'm starting to get more interested watching these vids.
@Veloperator
@Veloperator 9 месяцев назад
Q: But are there downsides? A: Bigger tires with wider rims weigh more so they are not as good for sprinting since it takes a little longer to accelerate more mass. Most people I talk with are not trying to out-sprint other riders so this does not matter much to them. Q: I'm not racer but I notice on my Trek, when my tires are on the low side, I get frustrated that I'm riding slow. A: Bigger tires on wide rims do not need as much pressure to make the tire firm enough to ride well. I ride with around 11 psi and that is the correct pressure for me. I would need more pressure if I have a narrower rim or tire. If my tires are on the low side of what I should use, then I will also have a slower feeling ride like when you go lower than what your bike needs for you. More here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i2ooV7GIZKs.htmlfeature=shared&t=91 Q: Is there a reason why Jones Bike low-pressure tires don't have the same characteristics? Or is more like, "who cares about speed when the handling and comfort is better?" A: Wider rims with bigger tires use lower pressures. Example: Monster trucks are much heavier than normal trucks and yet they only need around 10psi because the tires are so big. Bigger tires with lower pressure give a smoother ride with excellent traction and lower rolling resistance, especially on bumpy or soft terrain. More here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-iAakRP_FCMc.htmlfeature=shared&t=797 Q: Also, going down those stairs, I love the way the tires soak up the bumps. But doesn't there come a point at times where you bottom out the rim and bend the rim? A: Yes, just like on any bike, so I set my tire pressure before each ride so my tires are firm enough that I won't bottom out the tire on the rim too much to too hard. The rims can take some hits without bending. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-UO3G-BiaQbk.htmlfeature=shared

@@VeloperatorSo cool. Thanks very much for putting in lots of effort to answer my questions. And also - great answers. Makes sense. Somehow, my mind doesn't wanna believe I can get anywhere with 11psi. But you guys make 'em and ride 'em, and your explanation about physics makes sense, so I just have force my brain to get it. Kind of like infinity, I know it exists but I still have to convince myself. I rode every day for a decade when I was kid. BMX. Then I took a cool 40 years off. About 4 years ago I walked into the bike shop and walked out with a lower end Trek Marlin 7. I had no idea what I bought. Since THEN I've ridden 9 mile/day 5 or 6 times per week and I'm so hooked. On one hand, I love my bike and it's perfect for my lower-level old-guy type of riding. On the other hand, I've always been kind of disappointed I didn't research bikes before I purchased. Maybe I should have got something else. But on the third hand, until I read about your bikes, I didn't really know what else I should've considered. It's just that recently my wrists started hurting with stock flat no-sweep bars and it led me to you. So... long story... but now finally I have an idea of what I should have bought, and also what my next purchase should be. The vids and testimonials (and your explanation above) pretty much address everything I've experienced and thought about wanting to improve to my bike. Great job - THANK YOU!

Hey Jeff I am 6.3ft/192cm tall but with only a 32inch inside leg so long body and short leg what do you think would be the best size for me? all thoughts appreciated
@Veloperator
@Veloperator 3 года назад
Simon, Please email us at jonesbikes@jonesbikes.com and we can help you better there. It depends on many things but basically you need at least one inch of clearance when standing over the top tube. The large or medium size will fit you if the stand over clearance is ok for you. The medium will have the handlebar a little closer to you since it has shorter reach. We have other riders your height and taller are on the medium size because they want to sit very upright and have more stand over clearance. If your stand over is ok on a large, then maybe that could be for you.
