Another great track from the brilliant 1978, Soft Space album, the Fusion man never failed to deliver, mainly in his earlier album, Chick Corea plays mini moog
My dad has this on vinyl, he used to play the whole album on repeat, I remember that as a kid. Turns out, Jeff Lorber used to live in Vancouver, WA; which is where I moved to from London, England 4 years ago. Crazy, right!? Anyway, this is one of the BEST jazz fusion / bossanova albums, period.
Your dad and I probably use to club in central London to this music. Ask if he knew Paul Anderson, now Known as Paul Trouble Anderson, R.I.P to one of the greats. I am age 62 and still have this track and album.
Now this particular song The Samba swings, takes you through the ups & downs of what make a great composition of Jazz Fusion music. The instruments are in reality talking to whomever is listening to & understanding this musical masterpiece. With special thanks to and remembering the late great Chick Corea.
Little did I know that two days after seeing this band at Orchestra Hall in Minneapolis, I’d be seeing them again and getting to know them at a college bar in Winona, MN. Looove this album and wish I could get it on CD, but no way will I pay the asking price.
This is probably a dum question but what is that instrument that sounds like an owl/laughing in the beginning throughout the song? I hear it in a lot of other music with similar style.
