I came back to watch this after hearing of the passing of Richard Tandy. So incredibly sad to lose this man. What a musical genius that helped create some of the greatest songs. This is a priceless and treasured video of these two!
Jeff Lynne is probably one of the few people that I can listen to with absolutely no instruments at all. His voice is INCREDIBLY unique. I'm so glad he rose to the level that he has so the rest of us could hear what he offered up to the world. The world is a much a better place with Jeff Lynne in it. He is super talented in every way! Long-live you Jeff!
These songs never get old, I could listen to them again and again and again and never grow tired of them. Goddess bless, Jeff Lynne (and Mr. Tandy, too)...
Jeff should sell copies of this on dvd or cd. I would definitely buy 2 or 3 copies. I love his voice, his style, and everything else about him, and this has his most valuable asset, Richard Tandy, who no one else will ever compare with. RIP Richard. Long life Jeff. ❤❤
Something miraculous about the talent of Jeff Lynne and Richard Tandy respectively. The fact that they met and formed a band is like a solar eclipse. How lucky we all are to hear this.
Evil Woman is so beautiful here but after a couple listens I just HAD to hear the drums come in on top of the piano at the onset. If you did as well here you go. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-nxz1DuVaRr8.html
Even after all these years, I still love these songs. And Jeff Lynne's voice is still SUPERB. His song writing brought so much music to me that still affects me in such a unique way and makes me sing along.
Jeff Lynne , he has such a pure voice. Been a fan since 1975. Still hope to see him live. Unfortunately never been able to. Everything he does is perfect. Thank you for all you do, and all the memories we have shared.
I don't think any of my Beatles sang this well in their living room. Jeff Lynne is an amazing talent without the huge ego...All he cares about is making and producing fantastic music. Long live Jeff!!!
Never, ever tire of Jeff Lynne. His music is timeless. I ALWAYS come back to his songs over and over again. Great songwriter, producer, musician and singer. And, just a wonderful human. Love the friendship and chemistry he has with Richard Tandy. They compliment each other beautifully.
It's ironic that the man behind the Electric Light Orchestra, the very epitome of synth-rock, is even more impressive with just an acoustic guitar and piano accompanying him. A true genius, and astute enough to surround himself with great musicians like Richard Tandy. Long may he continue to make great music!
Music won't get more pure than this.. A brilliant composer - a superb voice - a guitar and a piano... Pure and therefor beautiful. Thank you Jeff Lynne and Richard Tandy.
Jeff lynne is like Peter Pan ,in that he never ages ,and his voice sounds the same as it did back in the 70,s 8o,s ,Jeff lynne is a diamond 💎,he is our uk treasure, thanks for all your great music and great memories it takes me back to.
This man is one of the greatest producers of all time and he is virtually unknown in modern day recordings... an absolute genius. Jeff I love you and thank you...
Saw Jeff Lynn's ELO on tour right before COVID kicked off, guy's greatly underrated as a producer, songwriter and performer. Tandy was the Richard's to Jeff's Jagger. Sad to see all this talent leaving us. R.I.P.
Something happened after WW2...there seemed to be an explosion of extraordinary musical creativity......i believe the universe gave us these marvelous people to counteract all that death and suffering.....jeff's one of them....a magically gifted musical poet put here to lift us up.
I've been a fan of Electric Light Orchestra in its assorted forms and lineups since the summer of 1975, age 8, and I am still and continually blown away by their music, their fantastic songs, and Jeff Lynne's beautiful voice. _WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!_ 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖
The kids these days don't know what they are missing out on..........this is musical class, not an autotune in sight. I've enjoyed ELO for years, but find myself coming back to this stripped back acoustic version more and more. Thanks guys.
I am 15 and I can't get enough of this spectacular band! Shangri-la, Jungle, Steppin' Out, Livin' Thing, Tightrope, Wild West Hero, Above The Clouds, Evil Women, Strange Magic ah I just can't get enough. Jeff is such an extraordinary singer too. The Lovin' Spoonful, Badfinger, and Emitt Rhodes are my other all time favorites too.
I'm 19, been listening to ELO since 14, found them myself because no one in my family listens to this kind of music. I actually got into real music thanks to Jeff. All 60s 70s stuff and much more. I know it's love for life. Hi from Russia :D
lookin at the replies, i'm glad i'm not the only teen that likes these old songs. I grew up listening to my parent's music and my dad would play ELO and Genesis a lot. Mum is more into some 80s stuff, like OMD and A Flock Of Seagulls. Personally, my fav artist would be Supertramp but Jeff Lynne is such an underrated legend.
Jeff Lynne is a fantastic musician, songwriter and producer. Jeff Lynne's ELO will be on Tour this Summer and Fall of 2024 for 32 concerts in North American cities.
Perfection! I have seen close to 300 concerts approximately in my lifetime...And Jeff Lynne's ELO is the best live Band i have ever seen...1976, 2016, 2018 and 2019. Jeff Lynne's ELO is one of the very, very few bands sounding better live than on their records. They are this good.
Telephone Line - Brilliant, just Brilliant. One of the things I love about the acoustic performance of telephone line is that although these two guys have been together for decades and know each other so well, the brilliant Richard Tandy smiles as he plays during the song as though in awe of what he is actually a part of. It's almost as if he is feeling "Am I really a part of this?!" I can sort of play telephone line on the piano in the style of Richard, but I have given up trying to sing like Jeff. Huge range - Lucky boy. God bless Jeff and Richard.
Who cares? It doesn't matter when people don't like what you like! That's the awesome thing about being an individual: you get to be who you are and others get to be who they are.
It is a privilege to live with musician that I like. Even if there were many many musicians I like (mostly 70’s and 80’s), ELO and APP are the top list of my favorite band in the world for over 40 years. I never forget the first impact when I bought theTIME album. I was 18 at 1988 Spring We all owe you for the beatiful music such a long long years!!!
MARAVILLOSO!! Jeff Lynne quizás no tenga todo el reconocimiento que se merece.....un artista impresionante que también formó la música de los 70. Verlo y oirlo aquí con Tandy me emociona profundamente...
So underated by those in power. How Jeff isn't Sir Jeff by now is beyond me. So much more worthy than half a dozen others I could name here, but won't.... Mr Jagger, are you reading this? Has been at the heart of British music & songwriting for 50yrs now, but still ignored by all but those of us who see his utter briliance for what it is. You need a man to front a Beatles tribute, who do you call? So humble with it too. Jeff, you are a livng legend, my Brummie brother.
This acoustic version of Telephone Line send shivers down my spine every time I hear it. I know that's a cliché, but no other song has ever done that to me before, not even any ELO songs - this version is something else. I've been to Bungalow Palace in LA, well, outside it anyway and was very fortunate to have met Jeff in person in our hometown of Birmingham last year. Such a nice guy, completely humble, despite his amazing talent.
You are so right about the acoustic version of Telephone - who knew it could be so powerful? Strange Music is my favorite songs along with the Overturn *forget the number"
Two incredibly talented musicians, one truly mesmerising sound. this is the genius of people who are truly talented musically, Jeff Lynne, amazing writer performer Richard Tandy consumate piano player. thank you for sharing such a beautiful collection of performances.
I just saw your comment in 2020, I agree with you, Telephone Line was a song that I heard frequently when I was very young, it represents most of my youth, but now that I am 60, I remember that this song makes me think about one girlfriend that I had when I was 58, she was really a bad person, she was dating another man at the same time than me, I was very sad and upset and I kept calling her on the telephone, she did not answer, and that was the best thing that ever happened to me, I recover from this situation very quickly and was very happy that I got rid of this woman, so you can imagine everything that it represents for me, so, every time that I hear it I almost cry of happiness, best regards.
Jeff Lynne's ELO is one of the very, very few bands sounding better live than on their records. They are this good. In the Summer of 2019, Forbes Magazine called Jeff Lynne's ELO "The Best Live Classic Rock Band In The World Still Touring". After seeing their shows in 2016, 2018 and 2019, I totally agree.
It's funny, his parents discouraged him, told him he'd never make it. He dropped outta school at 15... Then you see ALL those records on his wall over his right shoulder!!
How do you try and explain how good this is? This is pure talent. That voice has been a backing track to some of the most memorable parts of my life. Legend doesn't really get close to explaining this mans ability.
Jeff Lynne, one of the all-time greats in music and a very rare songwriting genius! Nice job by Richard Tandy. Hopefully he will be recovering soon from his illness. Best wishes to Richard Tandy!
I was introduced to ELO by my older brother who used to play their vinyl records on his record player. I'm gobsmacked that Jeff Lynne still sounds the same after all these years. There are very few singers who can sing with a perfect pitch especially when they get older. Such a phenomenal talent. Richard Tandy was fantastic on the piano. This is a masterclass for anyone who wants to call themselves a musician.
I saw ElO and Jeff Lynn at the Boston Gardens in 1976 I was 17 The laser show was the highlight. They used the lasers on the stand up bass and cello, I was amazed. The band did most of Eldorado. That same week Peter Frampton and CSN played the Gardens. ELO was the most memorable. Music today will never be as good. I was fortunate to have had this experience .. Jeff has left his mark.
