I think longer if not as long as portraits have been a thing. I wouldn't say he predicted it but it is a concept you have has evolved. Like how people think the idea of a selfie is weird, while admiring portraits of famous people. The only difference has been the level of accessibility of being that "portrait" has become my accessible. There are 'comedians' whom I really like to hear talk, Carlin is one of them. He did comedy in it's purest form. I just hoped people would not be so fucking blind to the information available nowadays. So much stuff available and yet most of us learn from the shittiest stuff. Instead of watching news I'd rather watch this, old school music, other type of information channels, mostly related to philosophy, life and nature/animals, and the feeling is hard to explain: you kinda feel more at peace with yourself and feel better, while most look at you crazy for being different. If you feel you got the 'intelligence' and determination for it, search for knowledge. Being open minded and searching for your own path and knowledge is against most of today's societies.

Smartphones at least serve a purpose beyond just recording. I could definitely see him complaining about the pervasiveness of modern technology but I doubt he'd put smartphones on the same level as fucking camcorders. I don't know how he'd feel about Snapchat. On the one hand the pic disappears after you view it so it's very in-the-moment, and it's primarily used for sexting so I doubt he'd have a problem with that. On the other hand, it sort of adds to the shortening attention span of modern times. I think he'd be more likely to make fun of Instagram, which has essentially become the new way of taking pictures of anything and everything.
