The mistakes by the Falcons were minimal. It was the classic tortoise and the hare. The Falcons wore themselves out and then the Patriots cut them down.
I disagree. Opportunity provided Brady to show his greatness and he prevailed. Yes the Falcons played awesome but couldn't finish when the pressure of Brady closing the gap step by step. Good luck next year or in the future. #PatsNation
Julio Jones says he's already forgotten the loss.... great, but he'll be reminded of it constantly and unless he wins a couple of rings, it will haunt him.
Atlanta wasn't prepared to play the whole game. Part way through the fourth ,the Falcons ran out of gas physically and stopped fighting back. I bet that never happens again

Can't people be happy for the long suffering Boston sports fans
I agree. Where is the sportsmanship? The Patriots are treated so poorly, it's shameful. It's hard to lose and the Patriots have been there often - research their history. Adversity makes them work harder and positively. I feel badly for the Falcons, back to the drawing board, give it their all and hope for a different ending. Never give up.
One thing that really hit me watching the SB was just how hard it is get there. Then how EASY it was this year for the Falcons to get there with ALL their flaws. We know the ATL defense has been playing strong for 45 minutes, but slack the last 15. We know that Offensive line was going to have to play a Center with a BROKEN LEG rather than have his backup come in. We've seen games where the #1 rated offense COULD NOT perform (hi there Eagle Fans) and that the Defense wouldn't carry the lack of scoring. ATL knew that the Patriots were going score eventually and very likely would put up at least 28 points. To win this game would require more than 30 points from Atlanta. We know that special teams is weak: look what Hester was able to achieve against them. The ATL offense has been making up for bad special teams all season long. Should have ATL won last night? No, they only score 28 points: 7 from the Defense directly. That means the Falcons scored 18 points below their average play off score of 39 per game.
Paul Richardson SB requieres talent and luck and every season is a rollercoaster its like tryin to win the lottery, yet MF Tom Brady and Bill make it look easy.. lol GOAT gotta GOAT ps. holla from an Eagle fan
James Sandi Yup same here. What a year though. It wouldn't be ATL if we didn't blow it... How many times did the Braves break our hearts in the 90s... lol
A tip for Falcons fans in the future, and not all of you but the ones mention will know who they are: Learn humility. Some of you were like "Oh the Pats will never know what hit them" talkin shit about how you were gonna blow us out. When we went up against the Rams in Super Bowl XXXVI I was humble as fuck, be proud of your team but don't be idiots. I don't feel bad for those types of fans at all. For the rest of you we Patriots fans know what it's like to lose a heart-ripping-out-of-your-chest Super Bowl, it still hurts to this day. Best thing I can tell you is that now that you've had the worst loss you could ever possibly have you know you've been through the worst sports can throw at you and come out the other side.
TheGr8stManEvr A tip for smug,self-righteous Patriots fans like yourself who evidently believe that trash talk isn't a part of sports but is rather exclusive to certain fan bases other than his own:don't lecture people you don't know beyond the internet on humility. Instead how about gaining some fuckin' perspective along with tougher skin befitting fans of a championship franchise.
Atlanta has a young team, most coming back, just gained some serious battle experience. They have the biggest position nailed down, QB. Ryan played a great game, made some SICK throws. The crazy JJones catch was made possible by an equally crazy throw by Ryan. I know it's tough to come back after a SB loss (and even a win), it's a tough league. I think Atlanta/NE SB next year would not surprise me at all. For the record, I'm a 50 year-old Pats fan.
@@TheAireaidLord, they were a Julio Jones catch away from making it back to the Superbowl. Had he made that catch, the Falcons would've beaten the Eagles and then beaten the Vikings in the NFC Championship to make Superbowl 52. New England most likely would've beaten the Falcons in Superbowl 52 quite convincingly to win back to back Superbowls. The Patriots would've been the first team to ever three peat as they won Superbowl 53. Crazy how a dropped ball could change so much NFL History.
I know what happened. The Falcons let up and were waiting for the clock to run out... Starting in the 3rd quarter. They stopped rushing Brady. They couldn't get to him. They wouldn't run the ball when the situation called for 3 more points to give them a lead of 11 late. Not only did New England outcoach them, but they outcoached themselves in the 2nd half.
One wrong point. It's not that they stopped rushing Brady. They were a defense built on speed and they were on the field for 41:23. As young and athletic as they are, they were just completely exhausted. The best example: the last NE drive in regulation. 3rd and 10 at the 9 yard line. After Brady threw that beautiful pass to Edelman on the sideline, look at the cornerback. Look at the way he just walked up to Edelman and haphazardly kick/touch Edelman. That cornerback was just completely exhausted. You knew that defense had nothing in the tank left. And if I could see that reaction on the TV, you bet Brady knew it being in the game. There was no way he would ever miss a pass by that point (and he didn't until the 2nd to last play of the entire game)
How were they running the clock out when they weren't even running the ball?????? THey became TOO AGGRESSIVE and it played into the Pats hands. They didn't give the defense a rest and they kept throwing and never got freeman going again.
I never said they were running the clock out. I was saying that they basically sat back and waited for the time to tick off, thinking that it was like New Years and that it was an inevitable ending in their favor. They let up off their game and got burned.
Look tough team / individual bounces back from a tough loss. George Foreman admitted to Oprah I think that the KO loss to Ali was devastating but in his comeback he did very well.
Why is it that credit is given to Tom and blame given to the falcons but the Pats defense gets no love ? THEY SHUT THEM DOWN allowing Tom to be Tom and the falcons to be the falcons.
2 or 3 more guys on defense, a healthy Trufante and the Falcons should get at least 1 ring. I know it's easier said than done but they are headed in the right direction.
Still think GSW's choke was worse. In that case, you're talking about 3 games (120 minutes) worth of chances to close out your lead... and you don't. Tough loss for ATL, but even worse job by GSW the year before.
Reereez4795: I think the Yankees choke against the Red Sox in the 2004 Alcs Was worse than Gsw's choke. I think rthat was the worst choke in the history Of sports until SB51.
NE fan hear. The blame should be on the head coach, not the offensive coordinator. The same for the Seattle super bowl. AT THE END OF ANY GAME, ESPECIALLY THE SUPER BOWL, THE HEAD COACH NEEDS TO TAKE OVER AND SAY TO THE COORDINATOR, "WE ARE GOING TO RUN THE BALL ONCE TOWARD THE MIDDLE TO SET UP FOR THE FIELD GOAL." That would have won the game for Atlanta. Same with Seattle. SAY TO THE COORDINATOR, "GIVE IT TO BEAST MODE UP THE MIDDLE 3 MORE TIMES!" Blame the head coach in each case. They make the big bucks and need to have the balls to take over and make the right decisions.
i feel for Falcons fans though. i really do. the legend of the patriots didn't start with winning. there was a lot of pain and suffering. the irony is i thought it would have been Bledsoe. If t's any consolation you played a good 60 minutes. i'd just watch the game minus overtime.
I didn't watch the game thank God cause I was asleep! I can just imagine Falcon Fans sweating ever TD because I was an Oiler fan when they lost a 35-3 lead
Can you imagine if the Falcons "took two knees" and missed the field goal? Holy Shit the screams of WHY DIDN'T YOU PASS THE BALL? DO WHAT GOT YOU HERE ..PLAY AGGRESSIVE!!! MOVE THE STICKS.. STFU Know it alls...Yeah they should have run the ball..Pats were going to win no matter WTF you did.
Yeah. Could easily have had holding calls or tackles for loss on runs as well. Also, just because their kicker was good from that range in regular season play doesn't mean he'll ace it in the clutch (Gostkowski is great in the regular season but missed two huge PATs two straight postseasons)
Atlanta isn't quite like Cleveland and the Cubs. The Braves won the World Series when Red Sox fans would have given up their first born male child for one. Next year is going to be the "Blitz For Six".
Who was screaming at the stadium workers, Jeff Schultz? All over a late elevator? If it was Kyle Michael Shanahan, I hope he dies on the vine in San Fran!
The overtime rule is just right. Regulation was over three hours long so both teams had plenty of opportunities. Atlanta had to stop the Pats and failed, so get over it.
