Beautiful song. Not Steve Perry - but a great voice that seems to come from his heart. He is Jeff Scott Soto and not trying to be anything but himself.
JSS has a unique ability to hit keys and keep the original feel of songs by other singers...from Steve Perry to Klaus Meine. I remember when we bought that first Yngwie Rising Force album in '84...JSS was the vocalist and was amazing. Side note: that was not my first Yngwie album...
Wonderful I love to listen to this man.. reminds me of one of my good friends.. sometimes life doesn’t let us rub elbows But my heart is always with her
I was just thinking the same thing. He doesn’t sound anything like Steve Perry and that maybe is a good thing. They don’t always have to sound like Steve
Lyrics: "It's been so long Since I've seen her face You say she's doin' fine I still recall a sad cafe How it hurt so bad to see her cry I didn't want to say goodbye Send her my love, Memories remain Send her my love, Roses never fade Send her my love The same hotel The same old room I'm on the road again She needed so much more Than I could give We knew our love could not pretend Broken hearts can always mend Send her my love, Memories remain Send her my love, Roses never fade Send her my love Callin' out her name, I'm dreamin' Reflectiions of a face I'm seein' It's her voice that keeps on haunting me Send her... Send her my love Roses never fade Memories remain Send her... Send her my love"
Wow ,such praises and understanding and i can not see so much hate in steve a and jss .Hard core fans are really accepting and appreaciate how they sang and sing sp's songs .I guess it's becoz they are of the same brand .but alas when the other brand came and quite the opposite ,there is so much hate and no matter how good the quality is ,they always find faults to throw at and always find things to compare without even realizing the reasons that the latter brand was just working and tryng his best to comply to the job discription given to him .what a sad and judgemental world we live in .
After listening to quite a few of his Journey songs I feel pretty sure Journey was afraid Jeff would change the dynamic of the bands sound. He has a much richer tone than any of the Journey singers including SP, who I feel has one of the best voices I have ever heard! I think Journey was at a point to reinvent themselves or become a nostalgia band .... they chose the later and looked for en exact replacement of Perry. I can't say they made made a bad move because Arnel is an amazing singer and a great Perry replacement. JSS would have given Journey a chance to re-invent themselves which I personally would have wished for but, you can deny the success they have with Arnel and the money that comes with that. If anyone wants the real answer as to why and what really happened... talk to Neil S. He he is the leader of the band and he makes the calls. I am not saying it was a bad or a good call to release Jss. I think they ran right up to the edge to go with Jss and at the last minute Neil made the call to go with and exact replacement. I think at the age all the main players in Journey are at it was too scary to hope for a new sound that people would accept. If JSS were around and available just after Perry left it might have swung the other way.
Watch the Journey interview in Sweden? Neal Schon said about "personality", Journey didn't had chemistry with the last two before Arnel Pineda. Steve Perry didn't want to tour Europe. And that now with Pineda, no one is opposing what Neal and Jonathan had in mind when they first form the group. Implying that Steve Perry always opposed on what sounds and songs they should make. Ross the base said that Pineda and Journey are meant to be together.
It's all about the money. Arnel is only paid as a hired musician and gets a paltry cut of the takings each gig compared to the rest of the band. JSS wouldn't have been as malleable as Arnel was coming from what's considered a poor country.
@@nephilim55 It was about personality. Neal Schon was looking for that "special" singer, not a one off for one concert. Journey was tired of changing front singers who were only good for short time concerts. Pineda's voice stood out, huge and raw. I agree with Neal Schon, you need to have chemistry to make things work. Pineda is not argumentative.
My ex wife was a wonderful person but it just ended for me .. I still think about her a lot and hope the best for her ..I dont even know where she is .. .. ..this song is so true ..
Nerada píší v,příspěvcích nesmysli. Ale něco se mi přece na tomhle zpěvákoví líbí. Vżdy rád přichází a odchází s.dobrým pocitem . Je to kvalitní zpěvák. Ano.
Where did this recording come from? I know Soto toured with Journey for about six-months, but I didn't know he ever recorded any songs. Was this from an audition? I still say he's the best singer Journey ever had after Steve Perry simply because he didn't try to do a Steve Perry impersonation but had his own style.
Totally agree. I think that Schon was jealous and that is why he cut him. Younger good looking guy comes in with better pipes than any of them since SP left & the crowd was going NUTS over him. He was the only singer after Perry who didn't try to recreate Perry, you nailed it. I thin this guy is one of the most underrated lead singers ever. Man can he sing anything from metal to Journey to Trans Siberian Orchestra.
He may not sound like Steve Perry, but he his Jeff Scott Soto a super awesome bad ass singer that I always will be a great fan of all his work he does. One of my top favorite singers of all time.Journey fucked up by letting Jeff go.Jeff is one of the greatest greatest singer of all time.Journey you fucked up majorly
I remain confused about how, exactly I got here, I am not complaining, I am just baffled; I usually I try to trust places I end up in inadvertent ways...
JSS’s best work was with Yngwie Malmsteen hands down. Especially on I’ll See the Light Tonight. If you’ve not heard that song go listen to it. Steve Perry as great as he was couldn’t pull that song off anywhere close to JSS if he tried. That type of music requires a strong, powerful vocal, which Perry wasn’t. He had great range, but a softer sounding vocal. That’s why JSS can’t pull off Steve Perry’s songs. His voice is too strong for Perry’s type of musical song writing.
Jeff is really a good one, no doubt about it! He really nails the Journey songs and in a melanche together with Dean Castronovo, it would push this band to new heights. You can hear both of them in their latest new video release here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-DF5sHLiud1o.html ! Nonetheless, this is not a criticism of Arnel who also did and still does an absolute amazing and stunning job within Journey. So Chapeau to all of these absolute amazing vocalist, which is really a god given gift presented to us fans. Thanks a lot fors sharing! Pure entertainment this music! Cheers DimiZ
In the end Jeff Scott Soto was too good for the Neal Schon Jonathan Cain making money machine..that Became Journey..Steve Perry and Jeff Scottt Soto were the Best Singers that Journey would ever have
Because he doesn't sound like Journey at all. If people are having this hard of a time accepting a Journey without Steve Perry, this is everything the fans wouldn't want. That, and at this stage Schon and Cain want to be the bosses. They used to take orders from the singer but now want it the other way around.
Hey Michael, I actually think your second reason is more relevant than your first. But who can say for sure. I feel like Jeff was so appealing and charismatic, the others thought he'd take over the band like Steve Perry did. Personally, I'm liking Jeff's singing even better than Steve's! Sorry Steve. I could listen to him all day.
@@sarahm.5356 They should have kept Jeff. What's this 'Journey sound anyway'? Jeff has soul and a very resilient voice with perfect vibrato. It's their loss dumping Jeff. Arnel has trouble live many, many time. Jeff didn't. Jeff sounded like silk.
JSS was "fired" because his stage presence was to great for Schon's ego to handle. Just too big of a star and the Journey "band" would be just that, a band playing for Soto. Fired ass. Arnel knows his place, a hired hand to sing songs. Just a lucky guy that got a great gig. No threat.
Why??? Listen Jeff's voice. He sucks. We want the Legend Steve Perry's voice - not Jeff. Jeff does have his own voice, BUT not for Journey. If Journey keep Jeff, I'm sure most of us had already left Journey after that tour.
Steve this is Tink the years have flown by we were so young we sat silently in the warm breeze after a show if I could have one feeling before it is over I would just like to be held by you in that same warm breeze silently
Too bad Neal had a hissy fit when Jeff toured that summer! He's the only one I would've followed them for. This karaoke singed they have now is a joke. At least Jeff made the songs his own and added depth to old songs. It was a great sound.
Why did Journey not honor Steve Perry wishes when he left the band . Even Neal agreed with Steve to keep Scott however Johnathan Cane and the other members wanted Arseil don't get me wrong he's good but Scott is phenomenal vocally he's voice is amazing and he truly was a wonderful fit for Journey ❤️❤️❤️. I love Journey however the band just not the same sorry.
Steve Perry and Neal wanted.to keep Jeff Scott Soto, it was there other three who wanted Arnail he's ok but Journey was amazing when Jeff and Steve were the front men . In my opinion Jeff got robbed his voice is amazing Journey is a joke now and I refuse to see then in concert with the new guy .
You are right he wanted someone who sounded just like Steve . It's sad because Jeff's dream came true being the front man for Journey only to have it taken away .
Aside from Perry ! Soto was the better singer than Augeri and Arnel . But he just lacked the type of frontman style , and persona . He would often spit on stage , just wasn't the type of guy to be fronting a Journey audience . Neal realized he made a mistake . But that being said Perry should have been the only guy for Journey . Neal could have started another band with Augeri and Cain . But it wouldn't have brought in the $ . As the iconic name is what sells
What are you talking about? I have seen a lot of videos of Jeff Scott Soto live ..whole concerts with Journey ..with Talisman- his Major Band and solo acts..he never spits on the stage !? You are obviously a looser hater. ..get the hell out of here lol and be the looser fan of the Puppet Arnel, that's the real embarrassment for Journey, a good kraroke singer yes but never ..a whole Class Act a Real Rock Icon like Jett Scott Soto!
Sorry but if he is that good why he didn't last in journey and NO concert bookings..that alone speaks itself so joked around its a fact that people are not interested in him....its crystal clear...
Because the band decided to find another singer who was close to Steve Perry. JSS does not fit the category because he is more of a hard rock singer and wanted to bring hard rock edge to next Journey albums. He sang Journey hits with hard rock edge, unlike other Journey singer. He only got the news from the management, the band treated him badly.
