This is so powerful it makes me cry, because it reminds me of being, homeless, strung out on drugs, suicidal, sleeping in my broken down car and listening to Summerteeth and watching it snow. 12 years ago. Been clean and sober for almost ten years now and not suicidal anymore. Thank you Jeff.
Saw him perform on his birthday this year in Washington. The crowd sang him happy birthday. He said "Thank you.. This next one's about my dead dad." Thanks Jeff :p
totally... its a midweastern thing that's lost on most chicagoans, but I guess hes not totally chicago... but yeah, I love his humility as well. Dude is a fucking legend but seems like he didnt get the memo.
Totally crushing on Jeff. Love a man who can bare his feelings... and help others process theirs through his honesty and artistry. Thank you, Jeff. I know you're working really hard. You deserve all the accolades.
There's something so human about seeing AND hearing a musician preform live. I have listened to 'White wooden cross' plenty of times on my phone and in the car. It wasn't until I saw this performance that I really understood it. We all die and he's glad his love one's haven't yet. Thanks man, I feel the same.
First off, your a darling interviewer.Dear lord Mr.Jeff Tweedy is simply an ANGEL! I am from the Pa. area and am having problems finding his other music on albums. I have LOVE IS THE KING, I listen to it everyday.THANK YOU FOR SHARING!Jeff is a brilliant musician ❤
I am currently reading his book. I am only about 60 pages in and it is one of my favorites so far! There is a real sincerity in his storytelling and honesty, which is really is heartwarming in a sense that you realize your heroes and icons of humanity aren't so far from us. He is a cool human with an inspiring journey. I don't know if his intent in life is to particularly be inspiring, I think he just does what he loves, and in return it happens to be inspiring which is a great byproduct of his goals with music.
Happy Birthday, Mr. Tweedy -- thanks for all of the great music you've written and recorded for 3 decades now in all the bands and solo projects you've been in!!!
I thought the engineering/mixing on this was excellent too! Although for a second your comment made me think maybe AKG had released a 414 with a capsule meant to capture "bass" better haha
Cool guitar. Looks like a really old Martin 0-18 (too thick and small to be an 00-18) with some really dead strings! I get it. I never change my strings either. New strings sound awful. Maybe there's a happy medium though ;)
there something to be said about less big solos and more control....like Jeff is my favorite song writer and Nels became my favorite guitar player when I heard him play with wilco the first time. but as I watch Jeff play songs and control the tone and fret board of his guitar with elegance I sometimes wonder why I was obsessed with metal solos and fast punk rocks songs and just being obnoxious on my instrument for so very long as a kid, don't get me wrong I love all that Dinosaur jr stuffs but man I think I tried to hard in junior high 25 years ago to play things that were cool but not skilled, eh? I don't know I did learn Diary of a Madman when I was like 12 and man that was fun and cool and I still listen to that Ozzie song in the dark laying down and just transcending but maybe my opinions and goofiness are too much I just love Jeff's playing and lyrics and songs so much that I just wish I could play and write in some quantity an iota of his skill and talent.
First off...My carnal mind can't help but say how absolutely beautiful the host is, the neck vein is omgrrrr...sooooo attractive. What's a musician gotta do to get in with this girl?? I got songs ....I love Tweedy... authentic AF, but ....ahhh I hate that I'm bout to say this but, he's missing some things. I think you know what I'm saying....
I am guessing it might be the original vintage Martin upon which he based the Martin Jeff Tweedy signature Martin 00-DB? This is just a guess though...
S Bingham that appears to be a different body style than the OO-DB (tweedy) Rest assured; it’s old and probably worth a couple bucks- AND it’s in great hands
@@saffel Yes it is in great hands! And thanks for the info - do you think it is a Martin though? Head stock was not showing anything legible that I could see...
He writes about it in his book. For sure a Martin from the 30’s. Bought it because he wanted something that Woody Guthrie theoretically could have played. Internet says it’s a Martin 00-21NY. I’ve never heard him refer to it as such, though.
