Jeff Van Gundy Breaks His Silence After Being Painfully Let Go By ESPN For His Views On The NBA 

The ESPN crew that did the finals this year was garbage, and so were the games.

Everyone knows that ESPN got rid of all the cool people who criticized the players and kept all the sellouts, butkissers, and company folks. They made sure to keep the feminist panel though lol.

Shoutout to the Notorious JVG for not being a puppet/cheerleader for the NBA's foolishness. He is a really good coach and broadcaster and a great part of the NBA. He will be a great addition to Tyronn Lue's staff. I'm happy for him.

Shout out to Jeff Van Gundy...great guy who knows the game....he and Mark Jackson were dynamic with their color commentary. I would love to see Coach Van Gundy coaching again!

Gotta remember Jeff Van Gundy was the first one calling out David Stern and the referee's association for colluding to rig games through officiating. This was waay before Tim Donaghy.

Jeff van gundy goes back to the 90s with the knicks. He was a good coach then, but he was sadly remembered for hanging onto his player's legs during the Alonzo Mourning/Larry Johnson scuffle

Disney is letting everything be affected. It was a travesty that they let Van Gundy, Jackson, Kellerman go in favor of Malika Andrews and anyone that is affiliated with Clutch Sports. I'm glad Van Gundy made it thru and is in a better place and work space.

Reading between the lines, Celtics seemed to have helped him outright rather than consider him as part of full time coaching staff. The culture of Celtics organization is incredible.

Loved JVG and those gritty, passionate, flawed Knicks teams of the ‘90s. Two memories: JVG holding onto Zo’s lower leg like a koala bear in the middle of that bench-clearing Heat-Knicks brawl. Didn’t care how he looked, he just cared about his players. I also remember a televised game where the Knicks took something like a 16 pt lead over the Bulls into halftime and they asked JVG his thoughts. He noted the Knicks were shooting something like 68% from the field, but they were getting badly outrebounded. And he just laid those numbers out and said, “If you think this is a recipe for beating the Chicago Bulls, you’re playing with fools gold.” I was so struck by the honesty and toughness of what he said.

I'm happy that Jeff Van Gundy is back in the NBA. Just like a friend told me when I got let go from ABC TV their is life after ABC TV their is life after ESPN. When Disney took over ABC / ESPN it was never the same since Capital Cities sold it to Disney and even when it was just ABC it was great working for the company ,but sad to say after Capital Cities took over and than sold it to Disney ABC along with ESPN it was not the same anymore. It was not great to work their anymore so it's great that Jeff Van Gundy is back on his feet again.

The only person who could possibly save ESPN was Stu Scott. May he RIP and may ESPN RIPISS

Turn down the sound for any ESPN broadcast group. The great thing about Van Gundy and Jackson was the genuine respect in the banter between them. That’s gone from any of the broadcast teams doing games on ESPN. Don’t say anything negative for fear of upsetting “The Association”.

I have been a big fan of Jeff for many years...his impressive basketball IQ was evident on those game broadcasts; his track record as a successful head coach speaks for its self. I wish he was on the Celtics coaching staff. He would fit in perfectly, and would add so much to driving the Celts to a back to back championship. Good luck in your new role with the Clippers!

I loved Jeff with the NY Knicks. I loved watching him and Mark Jackson jokingly going at each other on ESPN which made the show more fun to watch. Now it's quite boring to be honest.

Censorship is alive and well in the USA. Van Gundy was outspoken. He didn't hesitate to criticize the NBA on air about policies or issues. Apparently, Silver, the NBA Commissioner, had a problem with some of the comments and hinted to ESPN that he needed to go.

JVG made a comment during a game in his last year he said something to the effect that the league became sissified, and when I heard that I laughed because as true as his statement was I knew that would come back and bite him because it wasn't politically correct. So for the commissioner to say or suggest he didn't like how JVG was too critical in his analysis that would be the reason why..

I did not have an issue with this years ESPN broadcast, but both the NBA and Adam Silver really decided to screw over the fans by separating the best broadcast trio to ever exist. The fact that the network now has to find another broadcaster to replace JJ Redick is sad on it's own.

Great acknowledgement. Van Gundy was great for nba telecasts. Whether adam silver had any input or not, ESPN is a business with business decisions.

I watched the finals with the sound muted. Did not watch the halftime show, I can’t hear SAS without getting nauseous, so I avoid him as much as possible. I watch a lot of basketball, there are better play by play voices, and color commentary scattered throughout the association. Maybe they should do something like they do with the official and use personnel from teams that aren’t in the finals or conference finals. I promise you, guys that do this for 82 games during the regular season are much more prepared than JJ and Doris . And some sort of competition for the privilege of calling the finals would definitely be interesting .

JVG & MJ best duo since Steve snapper Jones & BW imho - he called out refs & players & his articulation of his theories & opinions was exceptional - how cool would it be if JVG & MJ were head & asst coach on same team ? Fav memory of JVG of course was hanging onto ZO's leg during the fight, but i remember the nyk team plane crashed into a bunch of players & coaches cars on runway ( plane was empty) & all these mega dope player's rides were hit or in danger of getting hit , BUT JVG car got hit - an older honda civic 😂 that car is just like JVG - sturdy & efficient - b4 i get heat for "dissing" civics, yes they are solid reliable rides, but if making 💰 like gead coaches do im getting a ultra fabulous ride, also if someone reading can clarify on what actually happened ( forgot the specifics of the story ) plz lmk

Jeff Van Gundy regularly, on air during games, called out bs and blatantly biased star based calls and no calls. Biased and inconsistent officiating has all but ruined the game. They way current players now play and act is due to this terrible officiating.
