Donaldson was a huge fish in Unionism in the 6 counties. This is massively damaging to that movement and his trial would be enormous. His personal safety is massively questionable given he would most certainly have lost a lot of any sense of loyalty from that voter base.

There was talk of this nature going around about him within his constituency 12-15 years ago and it was shut down!

Not sure why Alex states that the DUP have a "cleanish history" when we have seen the Iris Robinson story, Cash for Ashe and the Paisley Jnr Sril Lanka controversy in recent times before today's saga!

If the DUP withdraw from Stormont then that will be the end of the DUP as a political force in Northern Ireland. The only reason they went back into Stormont was in response to the huge strikes that took place across Northern Ireland where civil servants blamed the DUP for holding up funds that were earmarked for pay increases. The DUP understood the anger and knew it would have a negative impact on their support if they refused to go back into the assembly. If they walk out of Stormont again, for any reason, that will be the end of them.

How does one view a major public figure's legacy after accusations like this? This man is from a party which always took what it viewed as the moral high ground. We've had Drakeford and Sturgeon resigning under their respective clouds and now this mess. How many other public figures and celebrities will we see being challenged like this?
