Jeffrey Martin's songs don't pull any punches. The former high-school English teacher turned songwriter's affection for words and storytelling make the dark themes in his music feel electric and close-by. When he shifts to write about love as he does with Golden Thread, you get the sense that there is no surface to Jeffrey Martin. He's entirely wide open and deep as an old river.
For Jeffrey's Yellow Couch Session we used the following mics:
Vocals: 2247se: www.pelusomicrophonelab.com/mi...
Guitar: P-28: pencil tube condenser, www.pelusomicrophonelab.com/mi...
All audio for Yellow Couch Sessions is recorded and mixed by Steven Foxbury of Yellow Couch Studio. Video for this session was shot and edited by my awesome partner and friend, Matt Dayak.

A beautifully performed song, and a raucous tale richly illustrated. I’ve never listened to this guy ever before but he has a lovely sound and I’ll listen to him again for sure. Regards the lyrics; I hope he also has a song that tells the tale of the bloody genocidal slaughter of the native American people by the invading settlers who murdered them, destroyed their ways of life and stole their land. . . Might give a bit of balance, lest we forget why the hatchet was thrown eh?

My understanding of this story is that the Apache are acting as agents of justice. They are doling out the karma in response to the main character's father being a bad person. He doesn't have a song about Native Americans specifically, but I wouldn't put it past him to write it. He has a wonderful grasp of history.

Well thank you for your kind and interesting response. I need to listen to more of his lyrics and I’ll be more than delighted if his beautiful voice rings true on a moral note too 😊 Thanks again 👍

...I confess I like Jeffrey"s song "Coal Fire" and others much more than this one. This one feels too patently a morality tale to me. The story itself is far-fetched and stereotypical in parts. The lyrics are really not much more than roughed out. If I didn't know it was written by Jeffrey Martin I would call the whole thing the work of an amateur. Maybe if I listen to it a few times I will think otherwise, but it doesn't even leave me with a desire to hear it again.

I'm a big fan here and I feel like the story he tells here is damn near the next generations poncho and lefty haha Different strokes for different folks, but the lyrics in this one really hit it for me.
