Jehovah Witnesses and Higher Education 

No one can live up to those standards. It's unrealistic.

@@apextraxx2903 Of course it's true! Pew Research shows that only 9 percent of Witnesses get undergraduate degrees (well below the national average of 30.4 percent and the lowest of any faith group). As a result, Jehovah's Witnesses are among the lowest earners of any religious group. This is also one of the main reasons you are regarded as a cult and not a religion. Just because you happen to know one of the rare people who did achieve their career goals, doesn't detract from the fact that this cult actively discourages higher education. In fact, your surgeon friend's father had been an elder, he'd have likely lost his position for allowing his son to pursue higher education. It's all documented in the "Shepherd the Flock" elder's guide if you need proof (Chapter 8, paragraph 30). Remember that facts do not care about your feelings.

I'm not a Jehovah's witness my mom was and it is not a cult it's honestly more of a religion than all of the other religions, why because they actually DO what they say they believe in... which is "witness" about their god. ..why would you be that religious as a person, believe that this world is coming to an end, but still be going trying to get graduate degrees and other stuff that doesn't pertain to the new improved world your God is supposed to usher in? These other religions are more of a cult to me because they don't do half of the stuff they believe in. Half of them smoke cigarettes, fornicate like crazy, and do not live like they believe what they're learning. At least JW's have a standard. And if you're celebrating worldly holidays you are serving two God's so that's another strike against traditional religions.

​@apextraxx2903 Be careful which organisations you promote. We're not talking about some harmless, innocuous organistion here. You can paint this rosy picture of the JW's but in reality it: 1. Is a cult, predicated on a fake version of the Bible, supposedly translated by a group of men, none of whom were Greek or Hebrew scholars. 2. Fragments families through their archaic practice of 'shunning' those who they consider have contravened their rules. 3. Indocrinates children from birth and ostracises them from quite normal activities with friends such as birthdays, Valentine's day, halloween etc. causing long term psychological damage. 4. Encourges parents to shun their own children if they decide, later in life, this cult is not for them. 5. Shields sexual abusers in its ranks. 6. Teaches and actively practices the principle that women should be subservient to men. 7. Discourages higher education, despite now being heavily reliant on armies of well educated lawyers to defend the multiple lawsuits lodged against it. 8. Loans money to congregations who build Kingdon Halls as unpaid volunteers. Once the loan is repaid *with interest*, the Kindom Hall ownership is transferred 100% to Watchtower. A beautiful scam that deluded, low IQ JW members fail to recognise. I could go on but you'll no doubt have some bizarre excuses for each of these wicked, deceiving practices. The harsh reality is that your Mum has been funding an American publishing and property empire, masquerading as a religion. Nothing more. Most former members describe their exit from this organisation as an 'escape'. What does that tell you?!
