Die Ärzte singing "Army of the losers" at 40th Birthday of The Toten Hosen ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-3AatWFanB7s.html These guys are older than Yello Biafra!
Why they have writing credts on the music too? They own the music same as him, in fact they technically collectively own 75% of the music property and band name 'Dead Kennedys' and a US court of law agreed to that fact. The 3 other members of the band did their share of the work that made the DKs what they were. Finding a singer that rivals Jello to take his place in the DKs is probably next to impossible, I have to agree with everyone on that fact. Sadly there's truly only one Jello Biafra and he's, well let's just say it, if you've ever met or had a conversation with him you'd know he's kind of... well, a dick. He's one of those my football my rules and if you don't like it I'm taking my ball and going home types. So though your statement may have some merit to in as far as Jello was a big time performer, singer, the voice and undoubtedly the star of the DKs he was not all of the DKs. It's too bad cuz I'll admit I've seen the DKs w/o Jello and though the band sounds freakin awesone, the singers have been, honestly, lousy. I've also seen the DKs with Jello and those are some of the best shows I have ever seen, even 30+ years later! Shit, now I'm thinking about it. Im now sad I'll never see one of my favorite bands together and whole ever again.
Never say never. And i agree that the rest of the band played just as much part in the writing of the music. We can only hope that unlike rage against the machine, they will put those differences aside and write songs again. Not the same old shit in basically a cover band of your own band.
@@rathersane ☝️Well according to a US court of law they don't have to. Turns out because they created all of the songs as a group they all have equal rights to the material the band produced. They don't need to ask him for anything, it's as much theirs as it is his. If you know something about US copyright law that the courts don't know, I think you should share it here. Otherwise just be cranky that you never got to see the whole band DKs live and have had to settle for Jello and whatever his cover band du jour is. They were a freaking awesome live band when they were together, anybody that ever saw them would never dis the rest of the band like you just did
Jello was convicted of fraud, breach of contract and malice for withholding years worth of royalties from his former DK bandmates. Jello fired Kristin von Till, who blew the whistle and told East Bay Ray about the royalties. The verdict was upheld on appeal and Jello had to pay $250,000 in actual and punitive damages. He's LITERALLY a convicted fraudster. Zero cred or integrity.
@@harrisonwintergreen1147 in response to the group selling out, or at least trying to. He took a messed up course but the rest of the group sort of left him no choice. I wish they could bury the hatchet but its unlikely we will ever get a DK reunion.
Horse shit Ray is the most important punk guitar player of all time. Klaus is one of my favorite bassplayers. DK were different than anything else. Way more talented then they get credit for.
@@harrisonwintergreen1147 it's the bands fault they didn't write the songs themselves. If I had to do all the work for a band myself, I'd wanna have all the money as well
Why dosnt Jello have as much energy as the shows they did at CBGB back in the 80s OHHHHH right hes the same age as me GOOD to see him still doing ocasional concerts wish the band would go on tour again
I've seen the dead kennedys on stage in germany in early 80ies, it was awsome, what an energy. he was bounsing from left to right over the stage for nearly 2 hours. Now he doubled in weight, but his voice is still incredible
I've seen a handful of video recordings from that Winter '82 tour through Germany. The band was at their absolute live peak in that era. I wish I coulda been there with you! Cherish those memories.
@@cftvdatayea i saw them in 1982 tour in belgium and invited them to a bar got drunk with jello and the dk s..i just turned 16..then i followed the birthday party on tour .what a year
It's almost as if we don't need a full DK reunion. I'd pay to see Jello and GSOM do a show of just DK songs instead of the current DK with their store brand Jello.
@@NailsBoneski we really dont need a reunion, some of DK supported Mitt Romney a few years ago.... GSOM is an original band with great new music coming out every few years, thats way better than sticking to the people that brought you down in the first place
One of the greatest catastrophes of music history was the parting of Jello and the DK's, it happens to many bands but we could really have used the real Dead Kennedy's these last few years.
Jello for president! It’s great hearing him outside my vinyl! Love the updated lyrics the music still has balls the words still ring truth for those of us who think for ourselves!
Jello crushed it here - sounds as good as he did singing these back in the 80's, and the band sounds 100 fold better than any performance I've heard of the old band's sad, soulless tribute shows. Cheers to Jello and TGSOM! Fuckin A.
Did I see him imploring people to vote for Killary Clinton?? I was at a show in U.K. and he was ranting about capitalism. I was standing near his merch stand and noticed his bands t-shirts were £20
No Jello = No Dead Kennedys. Along with Dave Dictor, he opened my teenage eyes & ears. Now, though, like the man said, "Those dumb punk kids will buy anything".
Well, he is ancient but the attitude is still there and I love the updated lyrics. I love that he thumbs his nose at the security and goes right up to the audience.

Whether he’s a fraudster or not. The dead Kennedys aren’t shit without him. The real fraud is the singer they toured with who desperately tried to be jello and failed....
Seeing Jello sing his songs (this version of California über alles was 1st performed with the Melvins for a collab. album) brings a calm joy to my stricken heart.
His shirt tells a tale of a guy quit digging into the systems rot....now he is a pawn. Life long fan of DK but man....it seems the 'old punk' love the corps and authoritarian govt.
I dunno how I feel about this. The updated lyrics were a nice touch but 40 years later and you have to realize that nothing ever changed from the rebellion he had back then..nothing will ever change without violence against ALL world leaders...think "swabbing door handles of cop cars" but on a bigger level.
Man I would kill to have seen this. The closest I’ve came is when I saw the descendants and jello came out to sing police truck with them which was pretty fucking amazing.
DK was amazing band. Every particular factor was amazing. As probably everyone here I hoped they all four would play someday together again. Arguments, accusations it's life. As simple as that. So sad, they no longer have a chance play again. I'm inserting my 30 year tape Plastic surgery disaster to my recorder and the journey's beginning
Holy shit! .. Jello .. you are sooo old! .. like me :D ... Never forgot Dead Kennedys in Munic Alabama Halle (1982 or 1983) ... first Song .. Keapone poising ....! .. and i am the woman, get a two side letter .handscripe(!) from you! ..in a .time without internet! ,, we write with hand, we can wait! ...a great time, a unforgettable Concert! ..... loving!
Saw the DK’s in Bath UK in 82, I just googled the date they played, 22 nd November , aniversary of Kennedy being assassinated, something I didn’t pick up on at the time, they were great btw.
That was brilliant. So pleased to see so many youngsters singing along and they seem to get what the lyrics are really about too. I'd love to see these and Roger Waters play diff gigs of coarse at Glastonbury but I doubt they'd have the bottle to put Real Revolutionaries on or have their Supporters there in crowd
Open up two windows on your PC - have this in one and the current Dead Kennedy's in the other - close your eyes and tell me which one you prefer - I know which one I do
Changing things to relevant politics is something the Jello fans wish they could do with their own music. It's also really cool how he changed the n word to blacks in Holiday in Cambodia, maybe it was out of fear, but knowing Jello I'm pretty sure he optionally changed it.
I'd be more impressed if I didn't know that he supported Obama. A man who committed war crimes. I guess killing Middle Eastern people is okay. He's just a shill.
@@Chris-yj2di Obama Campaign on one thing more than anything else and that was to end the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He didn't either. His second campaign promise was to end gitmo. Remember he said that we are country that does not torture. And yet Guantanamo Bay is still there. What campaign promise did he accomplish?
I was in HS 82-86' in So CA and in the fall of 82 X played a daytime show at Cal State Fullerton. My friends older bro who was class of 82' was all into X, TSOL, and I remember when the 1st Decline Of Western Civilization came out. It was at the midnight movies like 1 weekend and then they took it off due to crazy behavior from the audience. The whole scene changed around that time. In 80 and 81' it was still like the 70s but by 82-83 once new wave and rockabilly became big, the 70s and long hair were dead, at least on the west coast.
