I am almost 50 years old, been listening to Jello since I was like 12. Been to hundreds of concerts. The best show I have ever seen in my life was in 2004, Jello Biafra and the Melvins at the Great American Music Hall in S.F. with the Dicks opening. That show was out of control. So fucking old school. !!!!!

It was always an astroturfed manufactured trend and you bought it hook line and sinker. You have been sold a lie. Punk is dead because punk was co-opted and subverted from the get go. Crass was right when they said "punk is just another cheap product for the consumers head" and that was in 1977.....

I bumped into Jello at Aftershock Fest in Sacramento in 2019 after Bad Religion played. I was pretty high on molly and whispered in his ear "you're my idol". He swiftly followed someone he was with and replied with "We gotta get the fuck outta here!" I'll always cherish that awkward moment forever.

Hilarious. I told him he "saved my life" when I was like 20! He stared at me weird and just turned around! I was humiliated but I kind of meant it. Growing up in a Christian rats nest and settling for metal in 7th grade sucked. Finding DK meant the world to me.

lyrically prophetic to this day(and their peers like the Circle Jerks, Black Flag, ad infinitum in early '80's punk). I've had an edge knowing these lyrics mostly by heart, and waiting for the other shoe in the future to drop. It's dropped where they said it would each and every time. Thanks my anti-heroes. cheers.

The DK's in Wilmington, CA, Longshoreman's Hall---A Riot broke out during their set. As the cops were clubbing us, saying, "get the fuck outta here, the DK's donned their protective posture with gas masks as the tear gas came in. They kept playing instrumentally until the plug was pulled. To the fucking bitter end of defiance!!!~ loved it, never forgot it! cheers.

So funny to see this. The riot was caused by LAPD busting in doing what LAPD did back then under Comandant Darrell Gates. That was an organized / pre planned deal, they came in force and swinging hard. Such a fun night

Jello is only 10 years older than me!? I thought he was 87 years older, lol. In the 80’s, he seemed so much older. That said, his politicking is still the same and nothing has changed.

The cool thing I think bout' Jello, is that he IS kinda older than the punk scene in general was....so he brought a lot of things from his prior generation too. Like a lot of punks were not really aware of what 'Biafra' was all about cuz' it was kind of before their time...I could be wrong about that.....maybe he was just more highly educated and historically aware than the average punk. .......( circa late 70s80s SF....i mean). ...now don't get all jacked up on me though, all ya punks who ARE well educated, from self or school..........

Jello'o wit makes him the only person I can stand that talks about politics during a show, and everybody sill has fun! He's so intelligent, I don't agree with all of it but I absolutely love him for saying things like "don't argue, communicate". Nazi Trumps, 😆 I also love how he updates his songs for the times so they can't get old.
