Welcome to Bonita's Kitchen! Today we will be making JELLO MOUSSE. This recipe only got three ingredient's but it is so tasty...it's just jello! See recipe below!!
To view & download the full recipe, please view it here on our website:
www.bonitaskit...
Our cookbooks link: www.bonitaskit...
Ingredients:
1 box jello, any colour and 85gm
1½ cups HOT water
½ cup cold milk
Method:
First boil your water for hot water to use in this dessert!
After in a medium bowl, add package of jello, then top with one and half cups of HOT water. Mix until jello have dissolved.
Then place in the fridge for about one hour or until partially set!!
Then remove from fridge and add half cup of fresh cold milk.
Then with a hand whisk or blender, mix until foamy or about three minutes or so.
Pour into small dessert serving cups or bowl, then return to the fridge until it fully sets into a light, fruity mousse.
Serve with fresh or frozen fruit, thick or whipped cream.
Please note! This recipe was made back in the day when families had their meals to the table and had only a few simple ingredient’s to make fancy desserts and meals. My mom would call it rough grub!!
Bonita’s Tips:
Boil water first or microwave it for one minute or so before using.
Using fancy serving dessert bowls makes this dessert twice as good.
Whip with milk or cream will work great!!

I luv it! Simple, fun and economical. Shades of my "youth" -lol My Gramma would make "Fluffy Jello" in a ring mold for fancy Sunday dinners and we kids thought we were living 'large'. Thanks for sharing the recipe and the memories.

My version I discovered while making Bavarian Mousse which entailed one large box of Jell-O minus 1/4 cup of water (that makes it a little firmer) and whipping cream. I would 'almost' let the Jell -o 'set' then whip it with beaters into a frothy foam, then gently blend in the whipped up whip cream and set, covering the bowl with Saran wrap overnight so the surface would not dry out. I also discovered you can do the same with regular jell -0 minus 1/4 cup of water, let it almost set, then beat it into a frothy foam and omit the whipping cream, let it set overnight, this is a low Cal version as you can do that with diet jell -O too.

Nice!! Thank you for sharing your version of this recipe. We had a viewer ask if you can use whipping cream...good to know. Whipping cream would give it a foamy texture. I will give yours a try next time I make it!! Bonita

@@bonitaskitchen The foaminess comes from the beaten / whipped to a frenzy jell - O, the whipping cream adds sweetness and thickness making it smoother & creamier to the palate.

I love the fancy bowls that belonged to Raymond’s Mom. I’m making this this week and can’t wait to tell everyone who made and reminded me of this. Thank you both for this. QUESTION: Bonita, my mom used to make a topping to ice an angel food cake. She used Jello partially set and some whipping cream. Unfortunately, I don't remember exactly how she did it - i.e. did she partially whip the whipping cream and then add the partially set Jello? Would you know the recipe for this. It really made a nice icing/topping on an angel food cake.
@bonitaskitchen
@bonitaskitchen 3 месяца назад
Hi Mary, Thank you for your question and for stopping by here today!! I do have a jello recipe here for ribbon salad or dessert...and one of the layers is cream cheese and yellow jello whipped together and then sat in the dessert. I'm sure it would work to icing a cake after you let it set for a little in the fridge. This is the link www.bonitaskitchen.com/recipe/ribbon-salad-or-dessert/ also I tried this recipe one time for jello frosting and it was made with jello, egg white and sugar, I couldn't get it to set, so I put it on the back burner to work on another time when I get time to try it....I will pull it out and see if it works maybe make a few changes to it. Enjoy Bonita

My mom cannot make jello...never could in 50 plus years. Either stays liquid or else went rubbery. Amazing pies and cakes from scratch though. It was my aunt who made jelllo with grapes or orange segments floating n it.

Awe!! That is so sweet!! My Mom is pretty much like that with custard. She would have the mixture full of lumps and the top would be crusted over....oh my!! But we still enjoyed it. Thank you for sharing your lovely story with us and I hope you get to make our recipe sometime.. :) You can think of your mom while making it!! :) Bonita
