I wonder if people caught that me and my sister used to get up in the morning when school was out to watch this cartoon that was me and my sisters favorite cartoon
Can you imagine if they had showed this video before the actual film in theaters?! I would've loved to see the looks on the fans watching the live action film after this authentic 1980s short :) People would've probably walk out of the theater after the first 15 minutes, saying, "I think the 5 minutes of the original Jem on the screen was the closest we'll get to seeing her in the theaters today."
+AnthonyRU-vidFan I just don't get why have all those fan audition for a spot in the film and not show any I mean DAMN no original songs or scenes wrong really
The production designer and those Korean animators didn't skimp on making Jem look like a real woman. One would have expected she'd have been depicted as a precocious teen, but she's about 22 here, and looks it. The rotoscoping of images from real life models, esp. in the opening credits, is amazing.
I'm a man who grew up in the 80s, not ashamed to say I loved JEM and watched this show religiously. Also grew up in Heman, She ra, Transformers, Gi Joe, Mask etc.
Yo, they MURDERED THAT EXTENDED INTRO!! NON STOP MAGIC FROM BEGINNING TO END!!! THE COOLEST CAR IN TOWN! AND FASHION AND SOMETHING ABOUT A CLOSET?!? YAAAAAAAAAAAS!
+Viewtiful Valentine I just finished watching all three seasons, it is a lot of fun! A lot of creativity and if you like music you will love the show. ChrisClash1, TheMitigating, and Starlightjem all do a great job of keeping these catchy and brilliant songs alive on youtube.
Well, me and my 4 siblings grew up watching Jem and the Holograms back in the day; though, admittedly, it's one of the few shows from my childhood that I can barely recall to mind... and not bcz it's a girl show, either. And apart from this truly, truly outrageous 4 minute-10 second music video, (which I really loved), this was my very first time getting that much exposure to the iconic series in a really, really long time! Now I'm curious enough to want to start rewatching it all over again, likewise; but not til next year... just in time for that particular show's 25th year anniversary!
@@olivekyabetsu8831 Jem, G.I JOE and Transfomers (as well many other 80s cartoons) were outsourced to be animated in Japan (Toei company in this case, I believe) so kind of?
Looking at this video, one can easily conclude that Jem is doing shameless plugs to promote her commercial products. Very narcissistic, self-centered, self-promoting, capitalistic and egotistical. Jerrica truly IS a business woman!!!😂. I'm just kidding. I LOVE this mix that includes the commercial jingles. I remember them all growing up in the 1980's.
It got to one point where Jerrica disappeared and it’s all about Jem. Jerrica seemed to disappear but it only lasted three seasons they could have given it five and gave the starlights a spin-off.
This is so nicely put together I couldn't tell lots of the audio was from commercials! i just wonderd why jem liked to sing so much about the stuff she owns
Wow memory lane. I'm an 80's baby ,I remember my parents buying me the doll and cassette tape.....my name is Gemma but of course spelt with a G. Loved it 😂😂 👍👍👍
OMG, this is the BEST! As a kid who was obsessed with Jem and had all the dolls and collectibles, hearing a flawlessly mixed mashup of all the toy commercials is a treat! The dolls, the Rockin' Roadster, the Rock Backstager (I think the only thing you're missing is the Star Stage, crazy!) Plus I love how the intro came straight from one of the cassette tapes that came with the dolls. And I love the twist on the Misfits catchphrase and the nod to "Music is Magic" at the end. Well done!!!
Melissa Waldrup-Old yeah 9 is getting strong she even quotem mtslindwall that she is well she knows little nemo on HBO scared to be atocker 4030 tjis chris mastronardi they send me away.
This makes me so happy to be a girl. Love the fashion, make-up, and glitter and all the dancing. ❤✨️💅💄💋👩🎤👸💃👩❤️💋👨 it was just fun to embrace all that as a kid growing up in the 90s. All that and Lisa Frank and Sailor moon.
Jem is the person, the band, the brand and the look. It is glam rock outrageous chic having an audacious personality knowing when to hit the right notes to emphasize a point, no one else is the same. The 80's definitely has audible words you can listen to. " Truly outrageous " sang clearly.
I love Jem and the Holograms, this was my jam on Saturday mornings, next to Soul Train 🚂. That's one of the things I miss on Saturday mornings, cartoons. My favorite cartoon shows were the Smurfs, Jem and the Holograms/ She-ra and He- Man Power Hour, Voltron. The good old days. Jem and the Holograms and the Misfits totally rock!✨💖🌈🦋🕊️👼🌻🔆💖 I also loved Scooby -Doo, Bugs Bunny and Charlie Brown cartoon hour .
My days with the TV permanently changed for the worse when all great Saturday morning shows like this went off the air. I have never gotten over it. I watched everything on the USA channel: He-man, Jem, Pole Position, M.A.S.K., GI Joe, Transformers, Turbo Teen, Plastic Man (for some odd reason, at one point the show was called Turbo Man or something similar, it's about a guy who can stretch his arms and legs to insane lengths so he used his talent to literally capture the bad guys). and sooo many others. The 80s were the best days of my life and I haven't had days like those ever since.
Huge jem fan loved it when I was 7 in 1991 until I was 8 in 1992 saw it on USA cartoon Express a neighbor's house had the first two seasons on vhs tapes I was 7 in 1991 me and my family member enjoyed it 😊
Britta Phillips is one amazing vocalist singer imagine her with other wonderful singers will make it like Sailor Moon In a musical band with amazing singers. This cartoon would have been epic like those anime in 80s and 90s.
I get why the Misfits hate her now. Shes so unique. Just so special. Goes on about how great she is, how great her hair is, her fashion, her band, hell, she even says she has a cool car. Envy her. ...was she the villain the whole time?
This hating the main character thing is so annoying. The only reason the misifts hated Jem was because her band became more successful than theirs but if they had focused on themsleves they would've been just as successful.
@@Chandelier175👍There was even a bit of a random line spoken by Stormer, when they were first thinking about Jetta join the group. Something like 'She plays a saxophone. I think it could really help us! That could give us a more rich and distinct sound.' And I'm thinking "Stormer is absolutely right. I don't think any of the Holograms play saxophone. It might have given you Misfits some kind of edge if you really let Jetta actually PLAY her saxophone." Because it's kind of a shame that there were really only 2 or 3 Misfit songs that actually had Jetta's saxophone in them. Because very much like you said, if they would have spent more time working on their OWN sound instead of spending all of their resources and time trying to sabotage (and even literally kill!) Jem and The Holograms, who knows what they could have done musically.
i love how you took the doll ads... so good! "Jems got a rockin' roadster! and YES YES YES its the BEST Its got an FM Radio FM Radio for Radio Sound Jems got a rockin' roadsterrrr"
I Love This 5Minute Jem Video!!!😂😂😂 Much Better Than That Disaster Of A Movie!!! Fun Play On The Lyrics,And The Characters Were Added!!! Totally AWESOME And TRULY OUTRAGEOUS!!!😂😂😂
When I saw the KJEM sign, I thought of Kpop, and then I thought how this would be perfect for a korean drama. You know, just because. I mean, the movie didn't do it any justice, so.....
@@exodeservedbeongrammys435 Americans loved the original... the INDUSTRY EXECUTIVES from outer space ruined the movie idea. Don't blame us, we hated it too. I didn't even know a movie for them existed til last week! And then I saw the trailer, and realized I apparently missed nothing... Original or fuck-it, is how I view the dignity of all my 'old school' classics.
This nostalgia hit! And I love how everything is extended including The Misfits' section. Nice little detail was the clip of the recording booth in the beginning for the cue of the master tape.
I've been looking for this for a very long time already and I finally found it and it's better than ever timeless in the making legendary and thanks for sharing❤️🔥
@ChrisClash1 ...THANK YOU SOOOO MUCH FOR THIS! FROM THE BOTTOM OF MY CHILDHOOD'S HEART, US 80'S BABIES CAN'T GET ENUFF. I JUST WISH THIS WAS LONGER. AMAZING JOB! I STILL HAVE THE ENTIRE VHS BOX SET OF THIS SHOW!
Iove it soooooo much!!! Iove Jem and the misfits. Lol I remember loving all their clothes so much as a kid. I had a Jem doll and now have one I found on Ebay. I collect Jem and Misfits stuff now but this is genius.
Thank you for this awesome mix! I can't believe I only discovered it now. We have some master tapes, such cool mixes, but we don't have any decents rips of cassettes.
I feel very fond of this character: I was born in 1987 and I like the culture of the time; I am a libra, which I associate to Jem and her pinkness; we are both working in the art/communication field: she's romantic yet fierce, and her force is the networking in order to reach big goals. Also, my second name - for short - is Jo, which reminds of Jem. Eheh... I adore her :) I want to be her. Nothing compared, for me, to other female characters in comic and cartoons.
Hats off to you, in the name of you have to work with what you got, this is a great edit, shame it feels like Jem is trying to sell us merch out the wahzoo. It's baffling that they didn't make a longer version originally seeing as it was the best song from the show, even good enough to get me to listen to it as a young lad
This with real people is the Jem Movie Trailer that we were supposed to get. Now it's *like a dream, that's NOT coming true*... But who knows, maybe in a few years that Christy Marx gets a crowfunding campaign, *she will lead us to a place we've never seen before*.
So, Chris... This is how you (with a little help from TMF, something we all need to do in the "Pop People" fan community...) turn a 0:42 "standard" ~ 6x into a 5 minute "masterpiece" without being too repetitive, something you'd fear when stretching this long this nearly 30 year-old material (nothing's perfect, but still a great piece of art). The addition of the stuff from the commercials for the dolls do help a lot. Now what we need is for David (DvF) and Eduardo (TJP) to arrange with TMF the Spanish-language version, if it could be done (since there's not much "en Español" doll commercial material it might get to be shorter, like in the 4 minute range)...
