Being a drummer is hard. I’ve been one for 5 years. I can’t tell you how much work is put in to learning different beat combos and new styles to drumming. It is an art. And Jen, she is my idol. I want to be as good as her one day. JEN I LOVE YOU
It's particularly hard because the band relies on you so much. I played drums in a couple of bands while in college; I decided to go back to bass, less pressure.
I wish I had video, but at one of the shows I was fortunate to see, the entire platform rolled down the catwalk, started spinning, and it lifted her and the drums into the air. How she didn't get sick or dizzy, it was spinning fast!
she puts her whole body into her drumming she developed her own drum sticks to help her with that cause normal drum sticks are to heavy and tires her out during shows...she hits so hard and she kicks even harder shes broken several pedals on shows lol
Jen, God gave you an incredible gift of being a goddess of the drum kit YOU ROCK!!!!! And Jen I would also like to know how many pairs of drumsticks have you ever broken during a show? I knew a drummer who broke 2 sets of drumsticks just in sound check. What I love about watching this is it looks like you are having a great time up there on the drum kit
I think drum solos are really underrated, you never get to see them and in my opinion it's the most fun. Out of every concert I have ever been to I think I have only ever seen maybe like 3 or 4. Maybe it's just because don't go to enough concerts now but I feel like they are rare
Yeah, she's incredibly skilled but it's just not working. You said it well. I have only seen one drum solo where the timing goes back and forth to different bpms that I've liked and that was one of vinnie colaiuta's.
Totally agree. It's not very well articulated as a drum solo, it's just a compilation of random fills. She's very talented as a performer in the band though.
Uhff Ik this was a long a time ago and this probably doesn't apply now really but y'all just hatin. Keep in mind that your watching her, Your commenting on her video of her being up there Like a QUEEN LOLL... Ive never seen more of a mind blowing, beautiful figure on stage 😉☺❤ She is a total inspiration too all of us and I'm sorry if what she had then or what she has now couldn't Or can't feed or do enough for your ego.... Like hey I don't see you up there 🙄🤷🏼♀ Better drummer or not, That doesn't apply.... You can be a good drummer but still doesn't mean you are a good musician... Enough of my rant LOLL.
I'm sure Ms Ledger is a competent drummer. She's just not a soloist from what I see here. It's okay. I'm not a soloist either. IMHO most drum solos are just (forgive the term) masturbation on a drum set. It might be fun for the person doing it, but in reality nobody wants to see them do it.
Look I'm all for her. She's on the right track (way ahead of me in the fame department) but her drums sound horrible and she really does play the same solo night after night after night. She's young so I hope she continues to grow as a musician and not be satisfied with the level she's at now because she could be waaay better. When she does her solos and smiles at the crowd, it looks like she's saying, "you guys!!!, stop it your making me blush!!" BOOM BOOM CHICK, BOOM BOOM CHICK BOOM BOOM CHICK BOOM BOOM, "everybody clap your hands to this rockin beat!! BOOM BOOM CHICK BOOM BOOM CHICK BOOM BOOM etc. You get the point.
Thank you! I'm an accomplished drummer, and a fan of the greats, such as Keith Carlock, Gavin Harrison, Bill Ward, John Bonham, Karen Carpenter (yes, check her out), Neil Peart, etc. While Jan is not in their class, she is pretty good, and she's having fun at it, which is important. Yet, to read these posts declaring she is "a legend", she's "epic", etc., one has to chuckle. I'm sure, however, she can grow into a "great". She's definitely better than that "Meytal" chick, though!!
No you can't, this takes years of training not a little bit. I know that because I'm a drummer myself and it took me 8 years to be able to actually call myself good.
