They can't come & dictate to her what to do in her house, that's not right. If she goes to their house then they can have those demands. The mother in law must tell the daughter in law to not wear a doek even if the mother doesn't follow tradition . The daughter in law gets permission from the mother in law

To wear a doek is not a Xhosa culture, it is a mother inlaw's responsibility to teach her daughter inlaw how to conduct herself as a makoti that has got nothing to do with culture.

You do not understand what this Monster in-law is troubling my spirit. She's evil, questioning that nonsense of wearing a doek, on other hand doesn't conform with that traditional work or do that was happening there, she wasn't happy at all. Meaning is confused, She's a Christian on other hand, she wants her daughter in-law to wear a doek as symbol of respect, but do not want to support the traditional gig that was happening in the family. I was very patapt, it just shows how arrogant in-laws can be towards their daughter in-law, and as a husband you have to keep quiet , not back chat bcz you respect your family, and compromise your relationship to your siblings. It does put a man in a dilemma bcz he cannot choose between his parents and wife. Going forward , that abuse will destroy their children's marriage. Mother in-law on other hand, is not modeling the right thing, is not wearing a doek to show Loyiso's wife how to go about as a Nkosikazi. Khona, why these years they've been married. It's tiring!

And yes we are cultural, in my village married women wear docks especially when they are going to meet the mother in law.
