Literally used her for clout. No villain arc, no bestfriend to lover arc, no story at all. And she risked her reputation for whole of a two minute screentime.
She got on a song with the Weeknd and is now a friend and colleague with the biggest music star on earth with 107M monthly Spotify listeners. Sounds like a power move to me! If she was smart her team would have networked with Sam and other Producers/Directors too.
Her character was never evil, she was played and used as a pawn by Tedros and the music industry. Talents ignored which is what happens often unfortunately.
Why? The point is she’s not special. She’s a nobody. Just a pretty back up dancer who can hold a note. There are thousands of pretty dancers who can sing in LA. She’s not special and easily replaceable. Jocelyn proved without the label they could not replace her, she came back without their help and delivered 3 hit records and a sold out tour. She made them millions, so they shelved dyanne.
@@hscarolx well Jocelyn literally calls Dyanne “some random back up dancer” but she does say that she followed her on instagram. Either way, Jocelyn’s celebrity far eclipses Dyanne’s. Even Xander is a bigger star than Dyanne.

I really wanna see the original version of this series, without all the cuts in Jennie’s scenes, the porn and Tedros’ parts. This series could have been a masterpiece..
She couldn't even get the sad face correct, ugh, they just used her to get views and popularity to the show , she needs a lot of coaching and practicing to be a good actress
@@valriv-im5osame it made Jocelyn way more interesting everyone around her was using/abusing and backstabbing her and people no doubt knew about the abuse from her mother but turned a blind eye. All Jocelyn did was take back her power from people who didn’t give a crap about her.
@@lalilili9924 kpop fans and their math, criticism equals to haters 😭🤣🤣 but thanks for telling me that my opinion matters to the point you gotta take my comment into account 🤣🤣
@@lalilili9924 i don't really see what you mean when you said she showed good acting, because from the scenes I've seen, her line delivery wasn't good at all. The only thing she excelled at was the dancing scene, but that's what she's trained for. With five years of training in singing, dancing, and rapping, her delivery should've been better. It made one of the scenes cringe-worthy, She needs to practice and train more in acting instead of being cast in roles she hasn't trained for. Critiquing acting doesn't mean criticizing them personally. I don't understand why you keep defending her when deep down you know it's only because it's Jennie.
Again the show’s storyline completely defeated the purpose for Jennie’s character to exist in the first place because of how crappy the writing is 💀. That was very anticlimactic.
I agree. A character trying to betray should have more lines, but it was 3 minutes in each episode. It's like a character that was written just for the show to be watched more.
@@maimetankaagency6668 give me the proof then From my side go n watch Jennie 's interview about the idol there she said clearly that she requested Sam for this role after his arrival🤡
This scene is parallel to Jennie. The show's executive was like oh this your character. Strong, sexy, and dimensional. A few months later, oh Jennie, you just need to be "natural". Ugh.
they used her for fame and they got exactly that. its not too bad bc at least 70% of the show's fame is all bc of jennie which shows thats shes perfect and doesnt need no big roles in movies/shows for she alr is powerful irl
yes a lot of people get to waste their time on watching a p*rn movie and call se*al harassment women empowerment wow bravo jennie for promoting such a trash and p*rn movie
Alsay people saying shes an ‘innocent victim’ or ‘she deserves better’ have me laughing. She was shady herself working with Tedroes and fake as hell for going to Jocelyn asking for ‘permission’ knowing shes already recorded the track and signed the deal! She tried to play with fire but got burned and sent home
jennie did really good actually. the writing in show in general is the dumpster fire. i think she exhibited the emotions of her character well. the dialogue and actual story written for her is just so bad. i hope we can see more of jennie acting!
@@II_II555 So according to your logic, someone has to be an expert in a certain field to state a negative opinion on someone's acting or singing skills. I'll remember that.
I’m ngl but I seriously think everyone is overhyping jennies acting she’s an amazing performer and for her acting debut she’s great but I do think her acting needs improvement, I don’t see the natural expressions everyone is talking ab
I mean that's what the Kpop fans does. Mediocre stuff like this, they overhyped it. As if she gave an Emmy winning performance like the Succession cast when it's not lol

That's exactly how her character's personality behaves and is, you are completely misunderstanding, she's supposed to be the shy girl who always stares in a creepy way and that keeps dark secrets but manipulates everyone when you talk to her as she acts nice.
Idk but I got the feeling that Jennie accepted the role because the plot/storyline had lots of potential and could've been better. Like, she's an idol, and mainly, this story was suppose to discuss the life's and struggles of people in the music industry. The only thing was, they just changed the stroy/plot/theme (whatever you call it) afterwards. Like, I feel like Jennie is intelligent enough to appreciate a deep of a theme like that. But the thing is, they've been changes in the production, andnyou know how it goes when you've already got a contract 😐
@@hastalavista567 nope she joined before. @@reedtikana1024 Dyanne was a terribly written character tbh, so she double crossed her with Tedros, then idk she signed with Nik, and then Joc blocked her and she got dropped like wtf.
You want her howling? In a scene where she is being approached by her senior about being rejected? The character has to keep composure and try to be "professional" to not mess up her future chances. She looks struck back and confused like she is supposed to. You don't know what acting is... It's not screaming and wailing (where you're not supposed to) that is overacting and acting out of character.
I feel like Jennie is not ready for acting yet, her acting fine but not spectacular and sometimes its kinda stiff and awkward to watch. I know a lot of people praised her overwhelmed facial expressions in the scene where Dyanne got offered to join the company, but i feel like her acting vocabulary is not that wide yet bcs i see she used the exact same emotions and expressions here too which can be dull and boring to the audience. Im no acting teacher but as an audience, i could tell who’s good and who’s not. My point here is, i dont think jennie shud choose to take on this crappy role in this crappy ass show for her acting debut cs they didn’t even showcase her acting but let her do those explicit dancing instead just for clout. And she really has the potential to be great great actor if she chose the right show/movie for her bcs she has the actor face like these remarkable actresses: (Jamie Chung, Lucy Liu, Awkwafina, Constance Wu etc)
Even if you’re a fan of Jennie you can’t say the acting was good. Even with the rave reviews as if it was award winning acting. Yes it was her first time acting but let’s not act like it was Hollywood winning acting.
You said it yourself, they are her fans, so what's wrong for them to react like Hollywood acting winning? And Hollywood are not all that great either, some they just overrated too...wth

It makes so much sense casting a Kpop idol in this show. This finale had themes of artists being pimped out, the industry is just as much a pimp as tedros. we know how Kpop companies pimp out their idols, it many cases, literally. 😬 so I’ll never say it was a mistake to cast Jennie in The Idol.

She could have gone the 'easy' way in a family kdrama like the other idol actresses(Bona, Uee), but she chooses the hard way debuting on HBO. But Levinson and Weekend are fkin with her right now. Her character, Xander, Leia, and Nikki are the reason I watch this show. Tedros is a fkin moron and I can't root for Jocelyn. I don't think this show gonna get a Season 2....
Let's be honest, I'm a Jennie stan and guess what? her acting here is terrible. Or at least not enough to be in a movie like that, the only reason they're keeping her is for profit and attention. I'm not an expert in that field but I can tell at least that

They must have shot all her scenes in one take because there was no emotion, you could see the awkward uncomfortable on camera vibe written all over her face, and the zoomed-in part just seemed extremely off from a camera perspective. All her lines were monotone, spoken slowly as if she was too nervous to even speak. Whoever is behind trying to push her as a TV/movie star needs to tap the brakes a bit. There's more to acting than a pretty face.
Guys rather than being blind and criticising her for what she did . Why dont we see that she is just trying to let everyone know the reality n struggle of her life ,at what cost she got the success in her life . Thats the reason she acted coz this movie defines her own life.

Just like the rest of the ppl around her did. In the end the writers of the show just dismisses the physical and emotional abuse Tedros put jocelyn through and makes him become a victim…did everyone forget he puts shock collars on people or what. This dyanne character also took advantage of Jocelyn and i don’t care that she had a dream, taking that chance meant that she was betraying her "friend" and it ended up blowing up in her face as it should
Jennie's acting in her CFs are beyond enough to prove her natural skills. (She has awards for it) It goes on to show how well she played Dyanne. The acting was exactly as it was supposed to be despite haters' 'bland' opinions lol
I love Blackpink but really, yall think Jennie ate here? She was so monotone. There was absolutely no emotion it was like a robot was saying all the lines.
Jocelyn is evil here, dyanne is talented then her that's why Jocelyn doesn't want to give her a chance. If dyanne got a chance she will become a star and then Jocelyn chapter will be end.
I've actually felt sorry for Jennie here because they made her believe the opposite so much...... Moral of the story: Never trust words, only contracts.
I understand why Jennie tried to avoid the camera's at the cannes! She hid behind all the people because she really didn't think she belong! And yet She's the reason this Show made to 5 Episodes! Jennie brought about 3/4 of the viewers to this! People said Jennie had no experience but when she shot the Tamburine commercial that's what real Direction and writing is all about! Still it was a learning experience for Jennie and we shall see where she goes from here!

For the artist im really impress about her acting. For her storyline it lacks some elements. But knowing this kind of scenario happens and experience by hopeful artists it is kinda sad
Jennie put so much at risk and was exposed to so much criticism coming from being an idol where people expect her to behave certain way because of the conservative corean background and she was given literally two minutes of screen time without any substancial arc. She wasn’t allowed to come full circle regarding anything. What a complete mess. This is way below what a talent as Jennie deserves.
You are literally contradicting yourself. You act surprised & complain that Jennie was given so little screen time. And at the same time you say that Koreans with their conservative culture would never accept Jennie playing the type of role “The Idol” really demands. You can’t have it both ways. Either Koreans need to accept that Jennie is free to play the true slutty, sex filled, devious, sometimes nude, backstabbing role of Dyane, or censor her so much that she’s only onscreen for two minutes for a whole season. You decide
Dyanne is weak here but JENNIE ISN'T ! "IT'S jocelyn wasn't it?" she spitted the truth! Jennie was just used but the heroine was lily even villains get 24/7 screen time but dyanne was different!
dyanne actually is a naive girl who just want a chances to be a world star too also tedros obviously using her and since she likes tedros too.. not to mention she even told jocelyn about the deal of her and nikki so i dont think she is an evil and villain..
