It's a working class dream BECAUSE it's very idealistic and nothing is really worked for or earned (but who would wanna watch a show where the characters don't achieve their goals?) I still can't help but smile at the ending but I don't think it's as great as I once did. Also, you're more or less spot on. Ross & Rachel end up together, Monica & Chandler adopt twins, Phoebe gets married to Paul Rudd and Joey has absolutely no ending whatsoever

Probably the storyline of Joey wasn't ended 'cause of his spin-off
