This lady it heaven sent !! To have the ability to belt it out like that... I don't care who you are, if any type of sound can give you the chills ( muscle car, steer bike, bass rattling , a country twang ) this lady has to have given you the chills .
her Voice is Anointed Praise God She preformed it amazingly she has a major gift on her hands and she uses it in the most profound ways. :) and yes of course I teared up of course!!! lol
I remember the first time I saw this movie, and this scene came on after the pot deal at the corner store. this scene was unexpected. suddenly I was listening to the most beautiful voice I had ever heard in my life singing those words....and a tear began to roll down my face. at that very instant they cut to him with a tear rolling down his face. it was an amazing moment for me....transcendent, much like her voice is transcendent. I now own the dvd and to this day I tear up every single time.
Yes. She blended "Negro Spiritual" with "Opera". It may be hard for you to understand the emotion that rises in black folk when they hear this. It calls to not so distant past of slavery and to the truths of the bible. It brings feelings of joy and sadness. I hope this helps you. :)
This song never gets old. One of the deepest songs/lyrics I've ever heard in my life. It always brings me to tears everytime I hear it. Jennifer's voice is amazing!
I nearly cried when i first saw this part. It makes me glad to be christian, to see such soul. Unarguably one of the top three best parts of Hustle & Flow
man when you caught in a "trap" in this game and you cant get out because its all you know you feel like you have to be born again to change your name .Guess what you can be born again through Christ he changed my name and forgave all my sins try him!
This is why I like too sing. I want to achieve what she has. The power to make you cry at something so beautiful that it just silences you. You can't help but cry too.
Godly Perfection, this performance comes to me in my dreams & everyday living all these years….and I love that this movie won for best song-Jesus to Pimpin this movie is an excellent example of life
This is why the ushers pass out tissues at my church. This is spirit of God is real and some ppl respond by crying. God uses music to stir the souls of his children.
I am totally against religion in all forms, but there is absolutely no denying the soul and emotion in this woman singing this song so beautifully. If it doesn't move you, you have no pulse. Magnificent.
Not a religious man at all but it’s very hard to not get choked up…every time I hear her voice. Forget listening the extended version of this song (this is just part of the original). I’d be reduced to a blubbering baby lol
for a long time I belied that religion in itself was false and manmade however after much reeding of many of the traditional major books I begin to understand that most of these religions all spread back to Abraham. and after much reading and prayer and meditation it has become my belief that the religion that you follow is of very little importance, but more so the relationship that you have with God. throughyour relationship with the Father you will then be able to understand and grasp the req
What makes this so powerful is the way the pimp and a prostitute felt spirit more than anyone. I l ive in Memphis. I see firsthand how ppl have to be to survive, but their soul wants something else.
You are absolutely right! The soul of man knows there is more to life than just existing. No matter how many swear and deny God’s existence it is an action of futility because God’s presence demands His existence! The Bible says, “The fool says in his heart, there is no God.” People are such pretentious beings, we would rather try to convince ourselves and others there is no God, well, if He doesn’t exist, why bother?
@shamvara this song is a "spiritual". spirituals are songs that slaves would sing when laboring or worshipping giving them a sense of connection and community when given very little opportunity to do so. the lyrics are referring to slaves that had their names replaced with the names of their masters. no matter what was done to them, they still had their connection with Christ, which gave them inner strength to counteract the hopelessness of their situation.
@poetshine I was equally pissed off. I love this song and it definitely should have been added to the soundtrack. What were they thinking? That is why I didn't buy the soundtrack because it missed this song.
