Jennifer Capriati vs Lindsay Davenport 2001 Australian Open SF Highlights 

Probably one of the best matches of Jen’s career. She was reacting quicker than ever, moving faster to the ball and able to set up her shots accurately. Whatever she did those few weeks leading up to AO’01 clearly worked.

Strong serving and strong returning are the reasons she won this match. LD looks unprepared and surprised by JC's level of play.

Jenn was in the best shape of her life

When you compare their games you could see why Davenport had a better head-to-head record. At their peak both of their ball striking was top notch.. Capriati was the better mover but Davenport had a way better serve and was more aggressive and went for her shots more.... Trying to grind and defend against Davenport was a losing proposition for Jennifer a lot of the time... In this match she didn't wait for Davenport to make the error as much as she did in other matches...

Davenport did not play this match as the defending champion. A repeat of previous year semifinal where she beat capriati in straight sets. She never got into this match. But I think the worst play came in the semifinal match here in 1999 against Amelie mauresmo, still I wonder how did Davenport lose that game

davenport always looked good in her nike gear from 2000

This match probably is what started Davenport's decline as she never could regain her top-level form from 1998-2000. There's no doubt Jen could beat her, but to be so listeless in losing. She never was the same. She stayed in the top 5 and continued getting to the business end of tournaments, but the Williams sisters and the Belgians, and the Russians seemed to beat her in every big GS match.

So glad capriati gave. Davenport the cold shoulder
