- Jennifer Connelly : Best Supporting Actress (A Beautiful Mind) - Helen Mirren : Best Actress ( The Queen ) - Maggie Smith : Best Actress (The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie) & Best Supporting Actress (California Suite) - Marisa Tomei : Best Supporting Actress (My Cousin Vinny) - Kate Winslet : Best Actress (The Reader)
No, eventhough it was a hard role but it lacks lot of acting scene while on screen bcoz of showing four act , that's why, it bcam insufficient through our minds or the Oscar expert....
Like Alicia Vikander this year, another well deserved Oscar for supporting role but an acting fraud: Jennifer Connelly should have been nominated (and awarded) in the leading category, just like Reese Witherpoon for Walk the Line (which won) and Felicity Jones for The Theory of Everything.
The studio obviously was not going to push Connelly for lead. Look at the women nominated in lead that year, she didn’t have the star power and would’ve lost for sure if she had even gotten nominated.
I think both helen mirren and maggie smith were amazing in gosford park. My personal pick would've been emily watson who was also great in gosford park and was snubbed of a nomination.
@@A.A_xv I agree. I have always thought that Robert Altman could have cast his life long friend Julie Christie in the Helen Mirren role/part and she would have been even better than Mirren, has even more intensity, albeit Christie would have to have made herself less gorgeous for the part
