She had to already have a God given talent and not realize it. You don't become a good pianist over night. Some people play by ear. It took me years to become a good pianist.

She coulda done a track too. She didn't have to. But she did it.

It's never too late to learn anything you want to learn. We should never limit our desires and skills by our age or what others says we cannot or should not do.

Aretha was and is mine too....my earthly mother passed away on August 11, 2018, and I've always considered Aretha my musical mother, who passed away August 16, 2018....5 days after my mom...August 2018 was a heartbreaking month for me....but I'm a better person being loved and groom by my mother, as well as been raised through song from Aretha!!! Rest easy my Queens!!🎵

She did live in L.A. when her career took off and when she was married to Glynn Turman, but “home” was in Detroit.

She went from Columbia to Atlantic… she was born in Detroit… went to school and grew up with many of them… but she was never signed to Motown

She does have the Italian accent necessary; I've watched a couple interviews with a young Patrizia, whom Gaga portrays, and the similarities are terrific. I have a funny connection to both Jennifer and Aretha. First my name happens to be almost identical to Aretha (just add an S at the front & replace the e with an i). Then Jennifer & I almost attended the same high school at the same time. I chose not to go because I hated the name of it, kids would make fun of it lol. Then I was actually a co worker of Jennifer's sister a few years ago. The first time I met her in person she stopped me and demanded I sing for her on the spot. I obliged her because I actually do sing and am used to people doing that all the time lol. At the time my hair was cut really short and people used to say I favored Jennifer so maybe that's what her sister saw too lolol. Also my first professional performance was a cover of "Til You Come Back To Me". Lastly I saw one of Queen Ree Ree's final performances at Ravina in 2017. She looked good, she sounded great, she spoke about some of her health concerns and I shouted and danced along with her as she gave praise about overcoming a previous diagnosis. Then I had the honor to look all around me at the assortment of people who communed together to watch this great legend who used her voice for the improvement of Black Life and the desegregation of America. We sang, danced, shared our food and relished in the presence of Ms. Franklin. I am looking forward to seeing what Jennifer brought to the portrayal. It definitely looks like an Oscar winner. Aw, bonus: My father recorded in that very same studio that Jennifer is in. He said that was his favorite place.

I see no reason why Black Hollywood shouldn't start their own awards of excellence in the film industry.. The mere fact that Jennifer and her fans keep mentioning an Oscar win could be the reason she will not win. Just let it happen organically or not at all.

That's the anointing of God at work. Those tears of awe when gospel is played are like no other. Sombering, sweet and humbling ... just precious.

Jennifer said recently, she didn't think about her new hair style being close to Whitney's until she rewatched the How Will I Know video again. She said she realized it was similar and got chills because Whitney was looking to the side and it was a clip of Aretha singing. She forgot that part was in Whitney's video.

Maybe some nominations but as with history, if people start early Oscar buzz on a film thats not even out yet, the reality is that the film will be snubbed by the film Academy.. The positive thing here is that Jennifer is likable and people in Hollywood like her, she just needs to cool on talking about winning an Oscar for this movie and let it come organically.
