She came about as an artist at the perfect time. This generation desperately need an epic talent to be their voice of their generation like the previous great voices that preceded her for the boomer generation. The CMA audience as did all of the viewers watched an incredible performance from the incomparable Miss Jennifer Hudson. Aretha chose her to play her for a reason. Amazing.

Exactly, I admire and worship her in any possible way….especially I am so gald that she didn’t break after this unbelievable crime that had happened to her mom, brother and nephew. She probably could only survive as a church baby. I love you so much, Jennifer!!! Chris is gorgeous as well, of course, thanks to him too!

You do not get saved by hearing a religious song. I'll call it what it was. it was having all colors at the CMA's. I think she has an awesome voice. I cannot stand most of country music these days, but it did not match the program, or previous tears programs at all. It was appeasement. It is sad that this is the America that we are living in now, where we look and judge based on color and ethnic numbers again, instead of ones personal character. That should be all that matters. Guaranteed if you are in war with someone beside you, you don't care what color they are. You need trust and honor.

@@genetmeghann5284 Yup! It's the soul singing. There is not a single day that I don't listen to Chris, from his early days in a Bluegrass band, singing in pubs with a couple of people in the audience (he never ever misses to mention) up to nowadays. Pure soul singing and creating genuine art! ♥️🙏

Reminds me of the Rhythm, Country and Blues project from the 90's. Paired up duets with R&B and country artists. I am not generally a fan of country music, but I love to see this and think their voices are excellent together. Had never heard of him, but have always loved JHud.

So this all started back with Traveling Wilburys and The Highwaymen back in the day. The man who wrote Nightlife Willie Nelson, his son Lucas has influences in folk, rock, blues,and country. Chris Stapleton has played with Willie and at Farm Aid and adopted a similar mentality. There is mentality in this group that has been thicker than thieves since the 60s of taking the best from each genre and making it your own. Lukas has definitely done this. Lukas learned his blues phrasing from BB King. His first tour at 14 was his with his dad and Bob Dylan. Lukas Nelson and potr have been Neil Young's bands since 2015. He's opened for the Rolling Stones and The Who. He didn't know George Harrison personally but he's friends with Dhani and the Beatles are a big influence. It's somewhere with Tom Petty he's friends with Adria. Most artists that have lasted any length of time in the business pull from more than one genre because it's about the music and what sounds good. Most of this pop crap won't be around in 5 years and no one will remember it. Willie wrote Nightlife long ago and it's still great today. Good music just gets better. Flash in the plan pop crap just gets crappier.

I think to state it more clearly I should have said that instead of just crossing genres, we're seeing more and more of these co-labs on the stage and video. Like 40 years ago I don't think we would have seen 2 entertainers (for instance Snoop Dogg and Willie), share the same song, stage or video together. It's really great to see more of that happening.

An artist is is whatever genre they decide they define themselves as. My Lukas uses Cosmic Country Soul. I add some cowboy hippie surfer rock in there.

Seeing as how Country Music comes Directly from the Blues of the former freed slaves right here in the U.S., when *"white"* started admiring the style, they did it with the pains and sufferings of their own troubles and hardships of their Subculture and that's why Country was labeled the "White Man's," Blues early on last century but......
