Last night, many protests were held across the US and celebrities like Lady Gaga, Mark Ruffalo, T.I. and so many more joined in to share their frustration with the results.
While some celebs like Stephen Baldwin and Scott Baio tweeted about their enthusiasm for Trump’s surprising presidential victory, others took it to the street to express their sadness and frustration towards the results. Lady Gaga held a protest at one Trump Tower location immediately after it became clear that Trump would win the presidency and her peers continued the protest the next day.
On Wednesday evening, celebrities showed up in NYC to protest alongside their fellow neighbors and to give you an idea of how many people showed up, Mark Ruffalo, who brought his daughter to the rally outside of Trump Towers, took a short video of all the people who showed up to protest.
Mark wasn’t the only celebrity out in NYC exercising his right to protest. Taran Killam and T.I. were also in attendance. The rapper shared multiple videos on his Instagram page and expressed that he’s right there with those who quote “reject the president elect.”
Even Madonna joined the revolution and wrote “Need to turn these words into action…so now what??” as she shared a video of people protesting from her point of view.
While these celebrities turned up to speak out with the crowd, others like Jennifer Lawrence and Ariana Grande chose to speak to their fans and the world through written words. JLaw penned a short editorial for ‘Broadly’ and wrote QUOTE, “Do not let this defeat you - let this enrage you! Let it motivate you! Let this be the fire you didn’t have before. If you are an immigrant, if you are a person of color, if you are LGBTQ+, if you are a woman - don’t be afraid, be loud!”
Ariana reached out to her fans through Instagram. The songstress shared a photo of how people 18 to 25 voted on Election Day and wrote QUOTE, “It restores my hope a little bit that this is what our generation’s vote looked like. It says to me that better times are coming…we just have to stick together right now. Let’s please be active and vocal every day towards making each other feel accepted and loved for our differences. Not just on Election Day. Please, it’s the only way we will be able to get through what could possibly be a very dark few years. If you are feeling how I am feeling right now, please know I am holding your hand from afar and I love you.”
