I'm sure Penn is close to the mark about Trump, but he supports Biden and the Far Left, so why would he give an unbiased opinion? Penn was a callous Libertarian for a long time. These people tend to ignore imperfections in society and they are opposed to government initiatives to correct problems. Libertarians typically oppose the expansion of social programs and government intervention in the economy. They believe that private charities and voluntary actions are more effective in addressing social issues like homelessness. Sounds kind of heartless. Listen to what Scott Adams says about his meeting with The Donald. He characterized him as 'normal, educated, engaging, funny, just like anybody else.'
Yes, I suppose he kind of is. The average human is so wildly dull and ignorant, when the topic of an eccentric and intelligent person comes up, they usually are talked about as if they are from another planet. Sometimes this is a good thing, sometimes it's a bad thing. In the case of celebrities, it's all in how the media have conditioned normals to feels about these types (to love or hate them). Trump used to be loved before the media conditioned people to hate him. If this were not true, he wouldn't have been mentioned in damn near every TV show during the late 80s and 90s in a positive manner, nor would have millions of people watched his show every week for years. @Ryan Marvin 'The left cant handle jokes'...? The overwhelming majority of the worlds best comedians thru history are Left leaning (Im not saying ALL comedians, but most of the notable best)... Well, that's what he was talking about, removing the filters, being extremely comfortable with who you are. You know this guy wakes up in the middle of the night and makes himself a baloney sandwich while he is completely in the nude. Can't you just see him walking along in the sand on a nudist beach, with his hairy belly and tiny shriveled testicles from the cold? He's an atheist. He doesn't like conventions and hypocritical mores. Adam and Eve saw their nakedness and were ashamed? Not this guy. Let it all hang out, baby! I'll bet he's also a "swinger" who's into wife swapping. Just my take on the guy. I don't dislike him. He's fascinating, but he's probably a filthy pig in a lot of ways.
Well I speak with little filters, have throughout my career. People say they respect me for it, but professionally speaking it isn’t received well. Most folks don’t want the truth or honesty. They want you to conform to their belief system, be like them. They often consider personalities like mine, troubling, confrontational or weird. Now my wife and son, are totally different. Both go along to get along and don’t offer opinions usually. Both are loved by friends and coworkers and are well received in general. Both get promoted. So I’d say there is a price to pay for everything. Couldn’t tell you which is better personally. But professionally, as my friend says, my personality is a CEO type, because I do not follow anyone.
Or the one who speaks with no filters is too self-absorbed to even consider others--a truly despicable trait. Speaking with no filters is not synonymous with speaking the truth, it is just speaking what's on one's mind. If the mind is squalid and shallow, so are those marvelously "unfiltered" words. So spare us the reflexive praise of speaking with no filters. It is usually the mark of the spoiled and self-absorbed, people suffocating with envy for whom inflicting hurt is supremely satisfying and always justifiable.
I can relate. At the end of the day the truth can be a very hard thing to obtain. For the average joe (which joe is) it’s best to simply defer to experts, but experts often contradict each other.
He's just a flawed person like most of us...I think what i noticed, which also might address your observation, is that he tends to lean in the direction of the guest more so whenever he is conducting a podcast. Like for example, if he had someone that was a republican, he would talk about how much he cherishes the positive conservative values and would also highlight the hypocrisy of democratic representatives in their war mongering and speech money collecting; and if he were speaking to a democrat, he would be talking about how crazy some of the republican representatives are and how he leans more towards a social democratic solution (health care, education, etc.). When he does that, he may come across as hypocritical to some people, even if that was not the case.

There’s something genuinely wrong with someone who doesn’t laugh or find humour in themselves, or get enjoyment from music. Comedy and music are two things most people can connect with.
@@Grimpmann perhaps but most people are moved by a certain piece of music whether it’s happiness at a catchy tune or gee-ed up at heavy metal or the emotional response some get from certain classical pieces (mine is Chopin’s nocturne Opus 9 no.2, it’s so hauntingly beautiful).
