was in the passenger seat of one of these with Miki Biaison at the wheel blatting through woodhill forest, Auckland, New Zealand back in 1993 as an 11 year old...my uncle, John Wheeler, was the chief engineer (and also responsible for the RS200)
one of the greatest cars ever, cheapish at the time, good for shopping, driving daily, or rallying. and looks the bollox straight from the showroom. there isnt many cars that i wouldnt change from the shop, but thats one of them!
I remember the first time I saw an Escort Cosworth in the 90s, I was riding my bike from my friend's house down a country lane and saw it chasing a Porsche 928, the V8 roar of the Porsche and the whistling turbo of the Cossie stuck with me. Two of my favourite cars just having fun was a site to behold!
The greatest Cosworth(pause) - "in the world"! It was the ultimate Cosworth. Clarkson owned two of them(one was green - I believe). I think his first was vandalised with the rear wing getting sawn off.
@4:03 - worth 50p!! those were the days Jeremy, each sheep you had on your farm cost you about £100, I'm betting you would have been delighted with a 50p per sheep profit 😄
Same here. My dad used to have one of the last models made and it broke down on the way to a Christmas party, he left it on the side of the road for the night lol and thumbed a lift to the party. And because of that story I really want one lol. The windows go up really slowly on them too..
@A dissapointing as standard but they are old cars now. Sort out the notchy gear change and add some power and they can still perform well and are a good laugh
With some tweaks, they could actually sell that car today! The styling was spot on, then they threw a Cosworth into it. I so wanted one - went to my Ford dealer, but it was £29,000. I had recently bought a house for £45,000!
@barryfoster453 sorry Barry was trying to be funny ! I brought my first house for 45k back in the 90s, but it all went tits up . Good luck to you sir 🙏
Let's be honest: Clarkson ain't done no 'Tonsil Hockey' with an 'Old Girlfriend'.. It's Journalism (who knew it was also fictional??), but that's it...
@@YK-fj5bj no- sorry. Just always wanted a Cozzie and got one in the mid 90's. Couldn't drive it anywhere without being followed. Eventually sold it for a pittance- now fetching Mega bucks!
